i have been getting a random ctd every since i started playing about 3 weeks ago. I am have tried everything i have found on this forum from setting to hard ware changes. i was using an on board sound card, updated it and still so i changed it out for a sound blaster live one and no change still crashes. I have a x800 xt which i dearly love as you will notice by the price tag. I have updated the drivers to the last thing that is out. Eve is the only game that i have any problems on. please help me out... the game does not crash at any certain point but randomly. If i click to turn on my afterburner that is one of the biggest ones that causes the ctd. I will also be typing and hit the enter key and then go. It is so random that it it hard to troubleshot the problem. here is the specs of the computer that is messing up, and i have a second older computer runnning and it never misses a beat with the newer one dieing all of the time.
xp 3.2 64 bit 120 seagate in raid 0 1gig kingston 400mh ram x800 xt 256 ati sound blaster live sc msi k8t neo
everything is up todate all the way down to the bios

I have had the same symptoms for some time... mainly disconnects after a "long" period of "inactivity" - like writing an evemail, or comparing item infos, etc. Then, when I resumed activity that required a connection to the server, the client dropped me to the desktop with a note along the lines of "connection lost". What worked for me was to join a busy chatroom, like blueprints or the help channel, so there would always be some activity going on in the background. I never had a ctd again since, and I sincerely hope that there will always be someone needing help in the help channels

Seriously
I would do some of the stuff here Stability Practices
I noticed though she is using XP 64. A lot of people me included were having problems with XP SP2.
I would try to run Eve in Win 98/ME compatability mode and see if that helps. EVE-I.com~THE Info source |

I'm on the 14 day trial period and I have this problem, too.
PIII 800 - ok, 55Mhz under min spec...how much difference can that make?!? Via Apollo Pro133A chipset on generic reference board - using Via drivers recommended for Win98 by Via 768 MB RAM Win98SE - fully updated DX 9.0c - is "c" the problem? ...I hope not because I'm not rolling back PNY GeForce FX 5200 Ultra 128MB - latest nVidia (61.76) driver SoundBlaster Live! - SB driver; lol, they suck ADSL 1.5M/128k - actually more like 1.3M/140k; 120ms average ping from Texas
When I crash, I get a Visual C++ fault code - I don't have the specific number atm, but it's something like "module direct access" fault. I have to cold boot to get back on the game afterwards.
I, too, am only having problems with this game.
I really like this game and would really like to continue playing it; but, w/this crash that happens about once every 90 min. or so, I don't see how I can. Heck, it's bad enough now...can't imagine what it would be like in a 'rat encounter or PvP.
