Hi
I was thinking about buying 2 x Navy Omens for ratting. What level missions can well fitted navy omen do?
What level missions one or two navy omeans can do?
1 x Navy omen = 2 x Navy omen =
Also any other suggestions about ANY faction cruiser?
Respectfully, Lord Bentley

Hi.
Well just for reference I have had a Navy omen run a level 3 alone before.
OFC this depends heavily on skills (both ingame and rl).
The setup I had on it was more or less tuned to the mission.
Mission was Slave traders lvl 3.
Setup as follows:
High: 5 focused pulse lasers t2, multi frequency and scorch. (can't remember last slot, not at home atm)
Meds: Large cap battery. Web. 10mn ab.
Lows: Armour repper, med. em hardener, thermal hardener, eanm t2, damage control, 2 heat sinks.
No rigs as yet.
5 hobgoblin t2.
I was easily killing stuff before my tank failed, but it was going, so be careful if you screw up.
I am pretty sure with a t1 version (for ease of fitting) you would do pretty well.
Just stick to the easier ones and get used to the ship before you try anything too heavy.

I have one, but i also fly zealots alot. I find the navy omen not quite as good as a zealot, but compared to a normal omen its truly stunning.

TBH the ship in itself is great fun. On an order of magnitude better than a regular omen, it also has the right shineys...
Look at it like this. Regular omen has these: 10% bonus to Medium Energy Turret capacitor use per level and 5% bonus to Medium Energy Turret rate of fire per level.
Now the Navy omen has this: 10% bonus to Medium Energy Turret capacitor use per level and 7.5% bonus to Medium Energy Turret rate of fire per level.
That's 37.5% damage bonus (or whatever maths you want to use), which is 12.5% more than the regular omen.
Also it has 7 lowslots, and a dronebay. That 7th low really helps, either you can add tank and lose some dps on it, or you can go for another heat sink and have more damage. Great either way.
But I will admit, if I were to put a basic omni tank on it, (all passive energised) I could easily rock through most if not all lvl 1 and 2 missions. And at a decent speed because of the tracking, range and damage kicked out by this ship.
All in all a great little ship when looked after.
However I wouldn't want to fly it in pvp, it is just too shiney for that. ----------------------------

Edited by: Aralieus on 04/09/2009 14:20:40 Ahhh, the beast known as Omen Navy Issue (ONI). I melt thru LvL 3's in this set-up and some lvl 4's, I mean the really weak ones.
[Omen Navy Issue, LvL 3 PVE] Armor EM Hardener II Armor Thermic Hardener II Medium Armor Repairer II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II Damage Control II Heat Sink II Heat Sink II
Cap Recharger II Cap Recharger II Tracking Computer II
True Sansha Heavy Pulse Laser, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M True Sansha Heavy Pulse Laser, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M True Sansha Heavy Pulse Laser, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M True Sansha Heavy Pulse Laser, Amarr Navy Multifrequency M Small Tractor Beam I Salvager I
Auxiliary Nano Pump I Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I
Its a pretty fun ship with the right skills, I strongly suggest Cruiser V and all your armor tanking skills to V as well, ie; Mechanic, Hull Upgrades, Repair Systems, All armor compensations to at least 4. Enjoy
Edit: O yea, I have LG Slaves and that +3% repair duration hardwiring implant, not sure if you need it but it helps. -Ara |

you would really REALLY want T2 medium pulses on there instead of faction the training is nothing yet and scortch is pretty good
you dont really need a damage control and another heatsink would be good

Overall I'd say a well skill Navy Omen is quicker through L3 missions than a Harbinger, based on T1 guns and T2 everything else ( except a faction repper ).
The actual combat time might be a bit slower though not by much as it gets into Amarr Multi range quicker.
With the drone bay it murders everything from L1 to L3 and you can basically fly it to wherever you want to grind standing and just get on with it. The cargo bay is large enough to bring along the hardeners and drones you'll need to do all missions.
As you might guess I do rather love it.
Once I get a bit more experience I'd risk it in some PvP situations since the 25m3 drone bay adds a lot of flexibility over a Zealot.
