just checked out the stats on conflag. and from I get you have a 50% penalty on tracking from using them.
However EFT shows only a minimal loss in damage when using AN multi's, equal range on weapons, and no tracking penalty.
eg: random setup with Conflag M = 597 dps same setup with same guns using AN multi = 586 dps
Am I missing here, or would I really sacrifice half my tracking for 11 more dps? or in other words, are these things worth it?

T2 shortrange ammo is useless.

yeah pretty much worthless. sometimes when tracking doesnt matter, like against big targets and 0 transversal, the extra dps is an advantage. not really enough to make it worth carrying though.

If you're rich enough to not care then why not? It's not like it takes you a while to change ammo anyway and it's not too taxing on cargo space either. If you have the cap recharge/boosters to support it, it can be a good alternative to AN Multi at rare times when you need that extra DPS against immobilized targets.

I carry both ANMF and Conflag (and Scorch and T1) on my pulse boats. Tho ANMF > Conflag.

Conflag is completely and utterly useless. They offer an absolutely minimal increase in DPS, and in return your tracking drops to the level of artillery, while still having the same range as a squirtgun without ammo, not to mention that it depletes 8 times as fast as ANMF.
Stick to ANMF, always, the disadvantages of conflag are simply never worth it.

I used to use it when it was cheaper, but faction multi is pretty much the same price these days so no real point in using conflag except that it has a cooler name which rolls off the tongue

One very minor advantage is the 50% Thermal 50% EM damage, the least EM damage you can have as Amarr. In contrast Multifrequncy is 37.5% Thermal and 62.5% EM damage.
So that's a bit(emphasis on bit) more damage against armor tanking T1 opponents, and a bit less on shield tanking T1 opponents.
So, if you're trying to break an immobilized armor tanking ship down with natural T1 resists(Just look at it to see if hardeners are working), Conflag might be a better choice than ANMF, depending on how long your capacitor can keep up.
