I am old veteran in this game, seen the mad days of multiple MWD's in one ship, golden age of HG Snake Sabre and now the era of snail.
Looking at the trailers, player made movies and comparing them to in game pvp videos makes me sad. For example in the Day of Darkness II, when the Ogre II's fly head to head against Condors the speed is massive. Right now after the 'nanonerf' only ships really giving the feeling of speed are interceptors. And now you can shut down the MWD with scrambler, to make sure that even interceptors are slow boating.
Was the nanonerf big mistake in game expierence wise? I personally enjoyed of flying Sabre 14 000 ms, holy hell the feeling was great! The actual movement in the battlefield is really minimal, you just keep aligning and warping. Trying to get warp in with Covert Ops frigate, or sitting still. And bashing POS. And again, and again. Sitting still, firing.
Since we rarely figth anywhere else than in asteroid belts, gates and planets, the movement doesn't play high role there. It makes me sad that if you have a cruiser for example, in most cases it's faster to warp across the solar system and warp back instead of burning close to your target with MWD.
I really think that PVP in EVE needs more adrenaline, more feeling, more choices and tactical possibilities in the actual battlefield.

I think the nano nerf has actually added a lot of depth to PVP. My current speed-related complaint is that in-warp acceleration/deceleration is uniform regardless of hull size. Cruisers/frigs should accelerate/decelerate to/from their top warp speed faster. As is now, the warp speed advantages of interceptors and EAS are almost irrelevant even compared to BS on all but the longest of warps. ---

Probably the fact that lots of Eve PVP consists of sitting around the places players appear in systems, gates and stations, where the are "spawned", and then shooting at them.
Just like those people that play on FPS games and hang out at spawn points and blow away anyone unlucky enough to spawn in front of them.

I disagree with the idea of decelerating. Space has no air resistance, and so I don't exactly know how it would work. If anything the faster the ship is the faster it should decelerate because of the larger thrust to weight ratio?? My two cents

Deceleration is just acceleration in the other direction. However, yes, the smaller ships should, and do, accelerate and decelerate faster, until warping comes into the equation, which involves some crazy physics that doesn't actually exist.

I just reviewed an old Fraps I'd made on the last day of nano where I overloaded my vaga's mwd to catch another vaga burning off a gate. I cracked 10k and got the tackle. It was epic. I do miss nanos. It's too bad that missiles couldn't cope with it but I still think they didn't have to nerf it so hard. They just needed to nerf snakes.

Idiot...
My point was the whole PVP and moving in space part of this game, our ships are in space after all. And this is SCIFI game, not realistic space simulation.

So what you really want is big numbers when you hit your MWDs in your nanoed whatever that you are flying. Is that it? |

This
Don't give me that 'ships aren't moving around' crap.
Ships have been moving around more then ever since the web nerf, before that practically every was webbing down each other and all ships were practically sitting still in combat.
It also gave Caldari more of a chance to be able to fit even a half decent small gang pvp setup since webs were no longer absolutely necessary and we got a warp jammer mod that effectively came with one built in giving us free mids.
Nice try hiding your stealth 'I'm not invincable in my vagabond anymore' whine behind a host of unrelated issues though.

Screw 10.8km range tackle tbh. The fact it's so goddamn vital for a close-range ship combined with the fact that it so gimps your ability to tackle and/or kite... you LOSE a mid if you want anything like pre-qr functionality (meaning, 24+4km pointrange + ability to hold a target up close).
The 60% web itself does not hold anything well enough to be able to use many forms of close-range ammo without a scrambler on top. Which means your tackle range is now a pathetic 10.8km.

you're contradicting yourself.
one the one hand you want to move fast, but on the other you want tactical depth? sadly those two don't go well together.
when you move with 10-14km/s it only takes a split second (or atleast very few) and you're likely out of weaponrange .. meaning - you see your tactic doesn't work out, you always can try to leg it, most of the time successful. the tactics itself become less important, as the exit option is always open. even a not-so good plan might succeed - or atleast not kill you.
now it's far more important to plan ahead. a not-so good plan might get you killed. ___________________
