Cause the Gallente fluff has been so awful for over a year now that it makes no sense. And quite a few Gallente RPers quit over it, so I've heard.
The Caldari get unbelievable propaganda such as those troops invading a world and not firing any weapons, while the rare times we hear anything of the Federation is it's all bad news, such as a gruesome public execution (not even the Amarr had anything this cruel), riots on Intaki, the thought police arresting innocent people, Foiritan being stupid, and basically the Federation ****ing up in every way imaginable. A whole year after the Caldari invasion we get Foiritan FINALLY taking action and mobilizing the Federation for war to reclaim those systems (The one and ONLY right decission he made during his term), and what do we get? Foiritan being kicked out of office. He should've been kicked out for not undertaking action for a whole year, instead of finally doing something.
Then there is this whole bias in game in favor of the Caldari. Let's sum it up. * Fed Navy NPCs get owned by a single T1 ship, Caldari Navy NPCs are wtfpwnmachines that require specialist PVE fitted ships to tank. * 23 extra L4 agents for the Caldari, 2 extra L4 agents for Gallente (plus a L3 one?!) * Good rewards for the Caldari epic mission arc, useless rewards for the Gallente * Awesome cosmos rewards for Caldari, half of Gallente cosmos missions are bugged and kill player standings * Extensive mission hubs full of L4 agents for many Caldari corps, Gallente corps are lucky if they have a single high quality L4 agent (other factions suffer from this too, agreed) * Achura nuff said. At least it got fixed. I'm sure more things come to mind later.
Okay not all is doom and gloom, at least the FDU gets the Navy Dominix in the future, so that's finally a step in the right direction. ---

She's annoyed because the Federal militia are useless, and haven't shaped up to be as tough as the Caldari militia.
Tbh, the FDU has no one to blame but itself over the loss of systems, it has it's tactics and focus completely the wrong way around. Anyway, that's a matter for elsewhere, not this thread.
I seriously enjoyed this, and I have to agree that I'm in the same frame of mind as Istvaan. It's also nice to see more varied subjects for the chronicles, spanning all four empires, at one point it was very amarr-matari orientated for a while. My compliments to Greyscale, the setting and descriptive work is awesome. I love it.
To answer those who referred to my original post in the thread about the three people, as far as I'm aware Fatal is still pretty badly messed up, although no doubt he's either dead by now or his condition has drastically improved.
It's going to be interesting to see where this leads, and how the State take to it if they do find out what's happened behind the scenes.

Mhm, maybe someone from CreoDron, seeing how the chronicle mentions Old Man. Ceul Darieux was Intaki if I'm not mistaken.
I am fairly certain that Mens Reppola was referring to Otro Gariushi when he said
Quote: It is good to be able to make business and ethics coincide. The Old Man would be happy with this.
I think its CreoDron as he was the Old Man in the story Old Man Star (also a system named after him) and no Otro Gariushi. Otro Gariushi was a capsuleer.
So that would make it Muryia Mordu, Men Reppola and a high ranking CreoDron official.

I think it comes down to the chronicles of late seem to "glorify" the Caldari as it were. All they do really is show Gallente weakeness and getting bullied.
Frankly there is nothing wrong with that. If the Gallente DID anything more than sit docked in Villore and Nennamalia they might get a spiffy chronicle, or even *gasp* maybe a system back

I actually find this one of the more pro-Gallente chronicles. The Gallente man is actively trying to save a planet of people from 'being thrown down the stairs'.
His method of doing so involves strengthening the weakest of the Caldari mega-corps (working on the idea that many feuding mega-corps are better for the Gallente than a few mega-corps in a cartel). It also brings a pirate faction (albeit a very well-behaved one) into the middle of the Caldari land-grab area.
While it's unknown whether the plan will have a net benefit or penalty to the Gallente, it's at least *a* plan, which imho is good- the Gallente need to be more proactive for a good story.

This is probably the best chronicle I have seen yet. Why? Easy.
From the start you talk about capsuleers and what they do, it strokes our epeen's and makes me feel like I was really apart of this chronicle, even though I wasn't.
The way you tie the in game news to these chronicles really just opens up my eyes and makes me want more and more.
The best part of all these chronicles right now, is that they are affecting everyone in the world of New Eden.
Please please please keep up the kick-arse work!

He killed admiral Bane as part of a deal with Fatal, you are getting your characters mixed up. Crielere, where fatal got messed up by not having an updated clone, happened after Gariushi became Ishukone CEO in Ruthless, the story you are referencing.

I think its CreoDron as Roni Darieux was the Old Man in the story Old Man Star (also a system named after him) and no Otro Gariushi. Otro Gariushi was a capsuleer.
I find it more likely that "The Old Man" is a reference to the traditional title of the commanding officer in a military setting. It is a way Reppola would be likely to refer to Gariushi considering their relationship and Reppola's military history.
That quote also seems to be Reppola referencing Gariushi and not some random CreoDron executive referencing Darieux because none of the prime fiction which references Darieux suggests he had a special affinity for the opinion that "It is good to be able to make business and ethics coincide", while that is a prevailing theme in every appearance of Otro Gariushi in the prime fiction (with the exception of Crielere).

I cautiously approve, though I am unclear on the Federation party and where they got the money to spend on this -- also, they seem to miss the fact that the money Ishukone is paying for the rights to the system are evidently going in Heth's pocket, which doesn't really help Ishukone or the Federation's position much either....
But there is a bit too much ambiguity to be overly critical at this point. So I will watch....and wait. :) I do wish we could at least tell which principal was saying what though. :) -- CAPT Svetlana Scarlet CAIN Chief of Diplomatic Staff

Originally by: Miyamoto Uroki I love the chronicles and short stories and have read every single of them. Can't remember all the stuff I've read in there though.
But one things bothers me:
"And monsters if they get out of control. It's good to finally meet you."
gnaahh, you are overusing this already. I know that you are striving to highlight the very special nature of us capsuleers in new eden, but I don't wanna read this over and over again, what mass murders we are and how brutal.. (yeah, I know that it's true..).
Okay, now back to finish reading this chronicle. ^^
The whole capsuleers as monsters thing makes a lot of sense to me. Bear in mind that a lot of players pay no attention at all to background fluff and blow stuff up in missions just to see the pretty flash. Also bear in mind that a lot of PC pirates don't act like actual pirates and are more like serial killers.
If you where an NPC in the EVE universe how would you regard these people? Monsters seems a reasonable view.

Well, the book suggests that the disease of the Broker was progressing so badly that the Broker could hardly stay in one clone for more than a few hours in the end. It is quite likely that by now he is dead. Unless ofcourse he took a shuttle to one of the planets the Matari doused with the antidote and just sniffed the air a little. Which is something he should have done ages ago. But I digress.
Anyway, I'm not a Caldari expert, but Ishukone was having financial troubles and decided to supply the Empire with some top-tech Caldari stuff. No doubt did they get financial support for this in return. The Ishukone guy is worried that Heth will at one point stop their export to the Empire and that Ishukone will not be able to pay back the loans. -- Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? |

This to be honest.
It has always been that the Gallente are hard to stir from their slumber. It is only when they are that they are formidable. Obviously, this is exactly what the Caldari are trying to stop happening.
In the meantime, the Federation didn't go from fabulously wealthy to absolute pauper overnight, and there is still a lot of financial wealth inside the Federation, even though the flower is off the bloom right now.
So in anticipation of the arising, that is assumed to happen at one point, some individuals in the Federation are putting that wealth to work. On the one hand for ethical treatment, on the other to make sure that when the Federation returns to Intaki, it doesn't find the populace completely turned into Caldari/Heth followers.
It's a stopgap measure no doubt, but it shows that individual initiative in the Federation is still alive and willing to deal with the problems in a pragmatic and innovative way. In a long term sense, it also shows that the Federation is still interested in covert cooperation with those elements of the State that oppose Heth in a way that can be build upon later. -- Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? |

Plus, he's EVE's "favorite" "behind-the-scenes-string-pulling" character, and this is in general what the story is all about, ain't it? It just screams his name with every paragraph.
