As final vote figures roll in for the Luminaire district parliament elections, incumbent representative Tasyu Pouql has won a second term for his seat, with Seriphyn Inhonores defeated by several thousand votes.
It what many are calling a surprise result, Tasyu Pouql found himself with 42% of the votes, with Inhonores following with 35% along with Dr. Monpillier at 12%. Although exit polls (as well as general opinion for the past few weeks) had M. Inhonores set clearly on victory, there have been no accusations of vote-rigging, and it is unlikely for the matter to be addressed.
In his victory speech, M. Pouql said how he would "address the issues of corruption" that were raised several times throughout the campaigning season, mostly by M. Inhonores. He also pledged to take the issue of "widespread district neglect" to Parliament, what many opponents of Pouql are calling outright 'plagiarism' of Inhonores' campaign manifesto.
Meanwhile, Inhonores in his concession speech, honourably accepted defeat, while 'pleading' with M. Pouql to be true to his word, and carry his post-election promises forward "for the future of our great Principality". The capsuleer said he would now divert his whole attention to the formation of his Federal-aligned paramilitary unit, something that has yet to be formally announced, and that "Monipuolinen will not be forgotten" by himself.

Edited by: Aria Jenneth on 07/09/2009 18:07:59 Good, then-- that's at least one instance of the capsuleer class in government that we won't have to worry about for a bit.
Also, I wonder: does this mean that Mr. Inhonores is going to stop acting like a politician? Or is politician-dom a chronic condition?

Hey, you want a non-political response, Mlle. Jenneth, hmm? How about 'kiss my exhaust port'? Will that do? 'Blow my neutron blaster'?
Heh, only joking. Kind of.

I think he answered that one fully, miss Jenneth. No credebility for another run, if you ask me. ________________________________________

You imply he had credibility to begin with, Leo. |

Why do you see the "Capsuleer Class" in government being something to worry about?

It's because no one who does not properly understand the function of a thing, and certainly a thing as complicated as humankind, can manage it properly. As infomorphs, our empathy for humanity is (broadly, if not universally) on the wane. This makes our methods crude and ham-fisted.
As a related matter, our pseudo-immortal state makes us given to certain ridiculous stunts, which we undertake with flagrant disregard for the human consequences.

I agree. I am saddened by the continued loss of Caldari life. Every day, sometimes several times a day, Gallente ships go and destroy the support vessles surrounding the titan. How many hundreds of lives per day is that? Per week? Per month?
When, oh when will the Caldari realize that the continued occupation of "Caldari Prime" leads to more loss of life than most any other facet of this war? How long until they realize how unprofitable it all is? How many more will die when the pieces of the titan's wreck rain down on the planet below, smashing cities and seas and plunging the planet into a catostrophic winter that it might never recover from?
When will they ever learn?
