Greeting, brothers, sisters, respected friends and allies.
In honor of two young Matari who will be undergoing the Voluval this Saturday at 1800 EVE time, Skadi's Call will be hosting a celebration and feast from 1900 until... whenever the booze, food, and fun runs out!
All Minmatar in good standing are invited to attend the ceremony and following celebration, as are non-Matari members of Minmatar-loyal organizations and respected allied organizations and individuals. I would ask that during the Voluval ritual itself, people be on their best behaviour. We will have plenty of food, consisting of traditional Minmatar cuisine (lots of meat!) and, of course, a vegetarian selection for those who do not wish to consume meat. Drinks will consist of several types of spirits, generously donated by Yuni, a selection of fine wines, and an assortment of beers, including Skadi's Call's house brew, prepared by our brewmaster, Charity Black. This is a formal ocassion, in a Matari sense, and will likely be a somewhat rowdier get together than some may be used to; weapons will not be permitted on the premises for safety's sake. Dress accordingly.
We will have raffles, perhaps a few contests of skill or endurance, and gifts for all who attend, as well as of course, food, drink, music, and comraderie for all. Help us welcome two young Matari to their roles as adults within our society, and bring hearty appetites!
Please, feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
Note; Enemies of Skadi's Call or the Minmatar people are not welcome. We will not ask you to leave the premises; odds are far greater you will wind up staying permanently.

Surionen,
I would request clearance to attend this demonstration of an aspect of your people's culture. I will, of course, arrive unarmed and follow the expectations of behavior and dress to my greatest understanding.
If it were permissible, I would also request to set up and man a tea kiosk in the spirit of communion and sharing and will leave cultural ceremony surrounding tea making out of it.

You and your organization are of course welcome to attend, Malcolm.
And yes, you may make your tea, and please, include the ceremony.
Experiencing another's culture will not diminish one's own, after all.

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend due to obligations that will have me tied me up for the majority of this Saturday and Sunday.
Please extend my congratulations to the two Matari who are to become adults.
I regret that I won't be there. Perhaps you would be able to accommodate a visit on a separate date, Ava, for just myself to meet your members? Dirty heretical mud-child, reporting in. |

Halete, sometime, yes, I would be able to meet with you.
Captain Farel, it is with a heavy heart that I say that I believe it would be in the best interest of all involved if you did not attend. Relations between us seem to be quite strained just now, and as I have no idea *what* your stance is on the conflict, nor my people, I cannot call you "ally" concretely at this time. My sincerest apologies.

Ava, simply enquiring.
Would it be permissable to bring my daughter and her redoubtable entourage along? The immense value of observing the voluval rituals outside of her own clan for herself would be incalculable for one such as she. Her Grandmother has recently started to talk to her about these matters in a manner she can begin to digest at her age and she does have the inquisitive nature. She would be chaperoned by both myself and her Grandmother, with your permission.
If , however, you deem the event, or portions thereof, not appropriate for younger children, then that's absolutely understandable and correctly responsible on your part.

Young children are perfectly welcome, sister, and perhaps their presence will keep things from getting too rowdy, eh?
It is your decision, if you wish her to come and witness the ritual, please, bring her along! |

Many believe in the spirits just as much as the Amarr believe in their God. That is all part of tradition.
I will have to do the same however and follow what those have said before me. Yesterday I have started having some engine and electronic issues with the Rifter I was going to travel in and may not make it to the ceremony in time. It does not look promising with the repairs and troubleshooting I will have to do for me to even return to my home station where my other ships lie within.
I shall be lighting candles in the quarters I am staying in on that day and hope the two who are recieving their voluvals have much joy and blessings in their life.

I'm terribly sorry, Ava Starfire, upon reflection, we shall not be able to make it after all. I've bought a new hair-drier and intend to use it on the day in question.
It's a shame because my daughter spent some considerable time drawing you a picture of a snowman. It is very good.

Agreed 'Kala.
Miss Starfire, if there is no specific reason why not, I'd like to visit if possible. I had meant to visit at the last Voluval, but I had gotten too absorbed in one of my projects to remember. :-(
I may have come here from Myst Online, but that does not make me any less bloodthirsty than the average Eve player.
Just more subtle.

Your god is as fictitious as the spirits my ancestors worshiped so fervently. We have absolutely no need for any supernatural explanations in our understanding of the world around us. If the belief structure leads your people to do good things, including finding solace in a cold universe, then it serves some valid purpose, but do not confuse this with reality.
I personally find little value in ritual, though I respect those within and without my people who find it useful. This includes the ceremony being announced in this discussion. But what value I do find has much more to do with societal cohesion, not with appeasing some capricious spirit creatures for whom we have less evidence of existence than we do a Jovian prostitute. |
