How long would a automobile manufacturer remain in business if it knew of a fatal flaw in it's most popular automobile design, but refused to address it or fix it while thousands of people were being impacted by the problem weekly???
Would that manufacturer be around in business for long? I think not.
Maybe CCP has a strategy of going out of business for some reason that hasn't been made known to us.
Maybe the corporate culture inside CCP is so hostile that the developers are having a difficult time focusing on their business goals and are under enormous pressure just to keep their heads above the water right now.
Maybe CCP has not been able to attain the highest qualified individuals to handle the demands of the end-users, like us.
Maybe CCP is having an inner struggle where people are demanding more salary and pay and management is going with the mentality that the cheapest paid people are the best for the game.
Maybe CCP has known for a long time now that the life of this game is coming to an end in the next year and they are reluctant to invest the capital into a dying game.
Maybe CCP is having a very difficult time finding the right creative people to develope this game. People with vision, ingenuity, creativity who have a new perspective on things.
Have any of you taken this into consideration??
So the next time that that you are asking why there isn't any Lab Slots available in the game for new players.. please take what I've stated above into consideration and realize the CCP is going some rather very disturbig times right now.
Maybe CCP want people to work together in corporations and pool their resources?

There is no current lab problem... there is a player co-op problem.
As far as I am aware of the player owned stations will fix the lab problem by allowing corporations to build their own labs in the future.
I roleplay... there is this computer game called "Earth - The First Genesis" where i play a character in the early 21st century. |

the ? is will that really work. so far i have seen little to no info on POS. one bit of info i have seen makes me think it will not work. POS will be destoryable and captureable. it would not make sense to keep your blue prints and supposedly high profit research effort's in a place that can be blown up in the nearly endless wars in the 0.0 sectors when you can keep them in a safe location like a NPC station. also one has to assume that CCP will have some cost attached to player made/owned labs in order to not unbalance the issue even further.
my bet is that in the near future after shive (3-6 months) that most smart corps will keep thier lab slots they have now until the are positive they are not gonna lose thier BPs to a take over of their station. and even then i see little reason for them to give up what they have until the Lab cost sky rockets. and as i understand it the lab price will drop slowly after being let go. meaning that the corps having more money to toss around will snag them before they drop to far. and since the will have those "Free" slots in thier station making money why not keep thier old ones to make that much more.

okay. maybe people aren't in a corp where they can have access to a labslot. or maybe their corp only has a few? or none? or maybe they only labslot is way off in the middle of some bleary-eyed auto-pilot trip and that happenstanced a labslot in some oddball station. or they are a fairly new player and not used to cut-throat activities of this community of "players" and have no idea the importance of finding a labslot until it is too late. there might be other circumstances involved then just "lazy" or "get in a corp" or whatever it is.
research is a part of the game. and it should be relatively accessible to any player who spends the time to get the skills needed. ask yourself how fun it is to search endlessly for a labslot. or bite nails over the potential scam of some nobody. or have to travel endless jumps to use your two hard-found labslots. i mean, let's get at least somewhere in the relative midground of "Reality" and "Gaming Fun" here!!
and if copies are the problem, then get rid of them!! or, if you plan on introducing labs for the Starbases, then disallow copies in faction controlled labs. copies can be made in Starbase labs only. opening a market perhaps for owners of the labs to younger, less wealthy players. easy as pie to make a really cool storyline out of if you want to get creative.
there is a fine, but dissasterous line between a fart and a shart. i suggest you make sure which side you want to be on... |
