The looped sound clip for active armor and shield hardeners is really loud compared to the rest of the game, even the gate fire sound is softer after the sound engine update. It would be nice if these sounds got some love so I didn't have to turn my sound off or zoom out so they're distance volume reduced.

FISHANDCHIPS, that was such an insightful answer, your argument was perfect and can't be discussed any further.
Annika, I can't really say, since I don't usually pay attention to the sounds, but if enough people think that those modules have unbalanced audio volume, I think it should be fair to ask the devs to tweak it a little instead of telling everybody to mute their speakers.

I agree with the OP. There is no way to adequate personalize/balance the sound volumes. Modern sound cards have many individual channels - I think my SB X Fi can handle 128 separate sound channels. I think we should have a volume control for EACH sound, or at least more granularity for the related sounds. For example, a drum set can have a mic on each piece or 2 to 3 mics to get "areas". The greatest sound is when each piece has a dedicated mic. So, individual volume controls for engines, weapons, modules, EVE voice, other, and for Heaven's sake, a volume control on in-game chat.

They make noise? Hmm, I wonder if there's something wrong with my sound.
Anyway, if it's true then there's no way it should be up to the players to compensate for a game design flaw.

I think you are misunderstanding the problem. Some people like playing with sound. The problem here being (I fly a Drake and experience this problem with a Sound Blaster X-Fi and Shield Hardeners) that the sound from the Hardeners is louder then everything else. You can't hear anything but them, weapons fire, explosions, etc zip zero nada. All you can hear is the hum of the Shield Hardeners and nothing else. Sometimes I can hear more when I zoom out far enough away from my ship.
The issue here is really a bug or driver issue. That is of course unless the intention was for the sound in the game to be crap when using Shield Hardeners. |

Fix all the other looping sounds aswell. Those drive people nuts. It's like chinese water torture. Haven't had sounds in EVE for a 4 months now... so not entirely sure if all the loops are still there.
Also watching the fanfest videos saw devs adore alien movie extremely contrast light flickering... DON'T DO IT! It's in a movie and lasts a minute. In a game we have to watch the flicker for years. It may also cause some serious medical issues with some people.
