Get-Well Gamers(http://www.get-well-gamers.org) will be at the Austin Game Developer Conference this week doing a charity raffle. The winner will receive a Caldari Raven Ship model donated by CCP!
Tickets are $5.00 each and can be purchased at booth #306 in the Expo area. For those of you unable to attend but who still want to donate to charity and get a shot at winning this wonderful ship, visit http://www.tinyurl.com/getwellgamers, complete the brief donation form, and enter "Raven Raffle" in the Designation field.
Good luck to all participants and thank you for supporting Get-Well Gamers!

Wow, sweet! I gotta pitch five bucks for this, especially since I use a Raven myself for missions and stuff!

Edited by: Cyprus Black on 15/09/2009 06:38:32 After looking at ticket prices to get in to the Austin Game Developers Conference, I'm having second thoughts. $995 for one ticket is a little too rich for my taste. ___________________________________

Just to clarify, is the raffle for a "Raven Navy Issue" in game item, or one of the nifty sits-on-your-shelf items?

He said "Caldari Raven from the EVE Battleship collection", so I can only assume the latter, the physical real-wold toy model.

I would also assume it was the model to sit on your shelf, since you cannot sell in game items for cash

Except that you're not selling an item. You are donating to charity. The devs happen to give you an in-game item (if that's what this is) if you happen to get your name drawn.
EDIT: typo

Hey everyone, this is Ryan from The Get-Well Gamers Foundation. I'm sort of reluctant to blow my anonymity, but I figured I'd hop in here and help answer some questions.

If you donate through the online donation link, it's only $5 for a ticket- going all the way to Texas isn't required.

What part of Germany? Because I've got a donation that came in from Dortmund just fine.
Any other countries that are having problems donating?

The fact that the news article itself links to the model Raven in the EVE store ought to put this question to rest.
I have another, though: if you don't go to the GDC in Austin and buy multiple physical tickets, does putting in a multiple of $5 online get you that many tickets, or do you have to donate $5 multiple times?

I live in Austin Texas and the Austin Game Developers Conference is only a 15 minute drive away. Sucks that the admission ticket price is so high cause I wanted to visit the CCP booth. ___________________________________

There's not much to see at AGDC. A few folks from CCP will stand around a booth that has their logo and maybe a couple monitors of the game running. It's nothing big, usually. The past couple years have been like that.
Now, if they raffled off some ships at the booth, that would be sweet. I've been to AGDC the past couple years and I'll be there tomorrow. AGDC is not a conference like PAX or E3. It's very professional and game development oriented (no booth babes).

Every multiple of $5 will be conted as another ticket. $10 = Two Tickes, $20 = Four tickets, etc.

I don't know what you need to do to get it to work from a foreign country- So far I've collected online tickets from Iceland, Germany, the UK and others, so I don't know what would make it work for some countries but not others, sorry.

Well it wanted me to sign up, and then even after putting in a false postcode (it wouldn't accept my real one) it still wanted a state when I tried to donate. Then it wanted a phone number. There was something else but I can't remember, but it was not allowing me to do it.

You do need a PayPal account before using PayPal to donate, you know. If you have that the donation site only asks you to create an account simply by entering your e-mail, and choosing a password. Just untick any spam fields they might send you, and you'll forget you ever had an account with them. From there it takes you to PayPal, confirm, back to donation site, confirm, and finish

Good news- CCP just confirmed there is going to be a second Battleship at the raffle- an Amarr Apocalypse! So, if you were iffy on getting a Raven, now you've got a chance at an Apocalypse instead.
Thanks again to everyone who donted, and best of luck to the contestants!
