I have now completed the changes to allow EMMA to work with the new 64bit IDs.
Alpha testing of this update is currently under way and if you'd like to help, please let me know. (email [email protected]) --------------------------------------

Even with the latest EMMA, my item reports still seem to be completely borked. I uninstalled EMMA first and then manually deleted the remaining database from the appdata folder and then reinstalled it. Made some reports and some things are completely off.
For instance: I bought 2 battleships at around 42 mil and sold them at around 46. The average buy and sell price seem to be correct in the report, but once we look at the 'cost of units' sold, the report says 21 something million. And it looks like it's using THAT figure to calculate the profit made.
So in the end the report says I made about 50 million profit on those ships where the actual profit is not even 5 million.
I just gave the report a quick glance and there appear to be several more items that have way too low 'cost of units sold'.
So the report is becoming pretty much useless to me as I simply cannot thrust it, and now I pretty much don't thrust anything EMMA says anymore, even the figures that do seem correct at first glance

I think I know what the problem is here.
It's an issue with setting up a new EMMA database for a character that already has a large number of assets.
E.g. The first transaction update occurs and finds no buy orders for item X. The first asset update occurs and finds 10 of item X. They are added to the database but no 'cost' value can be assigned since we have no information about how much the player payed for them. Later, there is another transaction update that picks up 1 buy transaction @ 50 mil isk. This item will be added to the stack of assets so there will now be 11. The cost will be recalculated as the average of the new and old values. i.e. (10 x 0 + 1 x 50) / 11 = 4.54 mil isk.
When a sell transaction occurs, EMMA will use that cost value of 4.54 mil to calculate the profit. Clearly wrong.
Now this is impossible to resolve entirely as the API data will only go back so far. There is no way to know how muich the items were orginially bought for. However, EMMA could at least try to work out a better value through eve-metrics or eve-central. I'll add this to my to do list.

Sounds like you are using the API with more than one program. e.g. if Evemon has your full api key it will pull down data for orders, transactions, etc. If you then try and pull that same data into any other application within 1 hour, the API will not let you do it. --------------------------------------

How far back does the API go? Cause this problem rears it's ugly head at least 10 times in a one month report. The report said I bought 2 of the earlier mentioned battleships and sold 2. Average buy 42 mill, cost of units sold 21 mil. I have no units left in stock so.
The affected items (the ones that get cost of units sold completely wrong) appear all to be hihglighted in a yellowish color, and there is one highlighted in green too where the cost of units sold appears to be way too high.
Hope this helps a bit.
Edit: the one month report I'm speaking of is october 2010, from october first till today :P

The transactions API will give you the last 1000 transactions or the last week's worth of transactions if you have more than 1000 per week.
i.e. If you do much trading, it won't go back very far.
Thanks for the extra info. I'm going to put out a beta release today which will hopefully mitigate this problem. However, it will involve starting a new database.
If you don't want to do that then you can edit the transaction profit values directly using the sql server management studio in order to set them to what you think they should be.
If anyone has any suggestions for how to permanently resolve this, please let me know. I just can't see how it's possible without having more data.

Version 1.5.3.3 Beta is up
- Minor update to auto updater to facillitate the other part of this update.
- EMMA can now handle 64 bit values for various ID fields. This has been done in preparation for CCP's changes to the API.
- You can now specify the base URL that EMMA uses to contact the API. This is set in Settings -> API Update settings. You can type in your own URL and there are buttons to default in the normal API and test API URLs.
- Change to processing during the first API assets update for a character or corp. This should result in better initial vaulations of assets and, consquently, more accurate profit values.

Could you please check on our "create red highlited placeholder orders" option in the Item Detail viewer? It doesn't seem to be working currently. It's only showing me 1 placeholder when there ought to be a dozen or so.
Gracias!

Looks like you're missing some SQL server files.
Do you have 2008 R2 installed? (To find out, look for 'Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2' in add/remove programs) --------------------------------------

Ayep. I've got the following installed (on Windows 7 64-bit):
SQL Server 2008 R2 SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client SQL Server 2008 R2 Policies SQL Server 2008 R2 Setup (English) SQL Server 2008 R2 Setup Support Files
It's strange that it was working just fine before the update.

And fixed it. Did a bit of Googling and it turns out I needed to install two packages from the SQL Server 2008 Feature Pack: Microsoft SQL Server System CLR Types and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Management Objects. Now it seems to be working fine.

That's odd... Guess you'll have to apply it directly.
Download the latest updater and extract using winrar. Copy the executable into your EMMA install folder, rename the old file out of the way and remove the 'beta_' from the beginning of this one and you should be good to go. --------------------------------------

Ah, ok.
I think that would happen if you were updating from a version of EMMA older than about 2 months. Applying the latest update requires a new auto updater program. The old auto updater simply downloads everything in one go so you end up with things in the wrong places. The new version resolves this but of course by the time you've downloaded it, the mistake has already been made.
Unfortunately, there is not a lot I can do to resolve it. However, I have taken steps to try and make sure it won't happen in future. --------------------------------------

EMMA also regularly seems to think that items I have traded are 'lost'. For instance: my jita alt buys stuff through buy orders and does not in any way use those items, they do NOT leave the jita 4-4 hangar of this alt. I set up sell orders and sell the stuff.
Not seldom EMMA bugs me about the items being lost after. I usually select the option "not lost" then. Is that the correct solutiton?

I think that feature is primary created for manufacturers. Personally I'm a trader/manufacturer, but I rarely download the assets data to EMMA, and if I do that, then usually I just click, click to close that assets lost/gain window. I have to many changes in the assets daily to track it.
So I suggest just ignore. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shields are like pants, they're supposed to come off. Armor is like the condom once its gone ur ****ed |

Actually, in it's current form, it's almost useless for manufacturers and mainly intended for traders.

I have sad news:
EMMA will stop receiving updates in a couple of weeks. This is due to changes in RL that will mean I no longer have access to a non-express edition of visual studio. One of the restrictions of the express editions is that you cannot create 'release' builds of programs.
The regular edition of visual studio is something like ú400 and I'm afraid I'm not willing to fork out that much to continue with this.
Thanks to all who supported the project in any way. I'll try and get any remaining bugs and tweaks sorted in the next couple of weeks but then EMMA will be in hibernation until someone else picks it up. --------------------------------------

I'm not sure yet... I'll probably keep asking for isk though.
A huge amount of time has gone into EMMA and despite there being no more updates to come, I still think there is plenty in the current program to justify 50-100 mil. --------------------------------------
