I've been reading around and haven't been able to find answers, and I have a kid that likes to eat my time. So I'll just ask.
1)If you were to use Artillery against angel Battleships and Cruisers in 0.0, what would a relative safe range be out of their damage range?
2)Is it possible to solo Radar sites in Angel space in a Hurricane? I will have my alt to scout, probe and hack sites, but the Cane will do all the combat work.
-Anyone have good fits if the answer is yes?
3)Are Radar sites very rare in 0.0? I was out on the test server trying to find one for about two and a half hours but found no Radar sites...found others though. Is this the case on the Normal server?
Thanks guys!

Depends on the site, I mostly run radars and mag sites in low sec and those are typically pretty easy (just frigs and BC's). There is an important thing to remember, hacking into cans will often cause a spawn. Your hacking alt needs to be in something that can take a bit of a beating, not a cov ops. I'm rather fond of the myrmidon for it. In regards to a safe range, it depends on the npc. Angels are mostly point blank range fighters so staying more than 20km from most will result in little incoming damage. However some are artillery fitted and hang out at 45km.
Serpentis are elusively blaster fitted so staying beyond 20km should result in zero incoming damage. Bloods are the same way as angels, mostly close range but with a few beam lasers mixed in. Sansha are mostly longer ranged fighters and guristas are the longest, shooting torps at 140km+ and orbiting at 60km. That said, profession sites are typically easier than normal combat sites so you may only see BC's in them. I can't say as I haven't done much null sec plexing.
Profession sites in general are not that rare. I'm sitting in a low sec system (0.2) with 3 radars and 1 ladar in it as I type this. -----------------------------------------------------

Well the ranges info was good, thanks.
I've been living off exploration in low sec for months now, so I know all about it. I was thinking to make a move out to Null Sec and figured I'd ask.
Thanks for your info, anyone else? ---

I was ratting in 0.0 angel space for a while last week in a Thorax and the rats that I came up against were quite often missile firing types. The ranges probably max around 60-80 km, but it still puts you in range with medium arties.
I don't know what 0.0 radars throw at you, but at the belts the long range damage was quite manageable even in a cruiser. If the battleships got annoying (those bane torpedoes can hurt) I just threw a flight of ECM drones at it to keep it down.
Like was said before, radars can prove difficult if you're using a covops to hack them as the cans will often spawn rats right on top of you. But if you have lots of low sec experience you are probably familiar with this problem.
If you would happen to be heading for GW you are definitely in for interesting times. It's pretty chaotic there and even the quiet corners seem to get some heavy action every now and then. Just remember that you can't dock at any of the stations without getting camped for days on end (bring a lot of ammo). And you'll probably run into a gate camp or two pretty soon so be diligent about scouting.
Other than that, have fun! ______________________

How do you guys manage hacking sites in covops with two accounts? Do you have to use another ship to hack, seems like a lot of switching if so, otherwise do you just use another ship from the get go to scan as well? |

I'm not sure what you mean by "a lot of switching". We're talking about dual-boxing two accounts, right? It should reduce the switching...
I haven't done 0.0 hacking (which may cause some additional logistics issues), but usually I fit one ship (covops) for scanning and another for clearing (combat & profs). The risks for opening cans with a covops on a radar site are just too high to be worth it. I'll use it for what it is best at and that is scanning.
A mid slot for a prof module shouldn't gimp your combat ship too much. Besides, having a cloaked alt at the site lets you warp out if necessary without having the site despawn on you.
But that's just me. ______________________
