Edited by: Belladona Grimm on 20/09/2009 20:39:35 I'm irritated and confused at this one. I just started it, and got trounced on the first mission. This happens, chalk it up to an expensive mistake usually. But in this case everything I shot rep-ed back to perfect before I could even fire a second round at them (this included a frig that I put in hull in one shot). WTF is that? Am I dense and just missed something or is this just newer mission glitch fun?

hey hey
my best guess . . .
Angel rats are fast little ****ers and are close ranged. they mwd in fast then orbit you with high transversal. they are also shield tankers (heheheh tankers)
you can easily 1 shot them into hull then find yourself in high transversal and suffering from tracking issues and they have repped during your reload/refire.
the second mission is mercs ? and iirc they are very similar. switch to warriors and maybe use a web. also consider switching to auto/blaster

Saddly, I was running a similar set up. Was in a 3x Trimark rigged Hurricane with a full rack of artilary (this was my second entry, as I had this problem the first time and just thought I wasn't doing enough dps to the bigguns to beat their rep, so I switced from Autos before I realized there were scrammers )one web and 5 Warrior IIs. I focused everything on one frigate and couldn't pop the scrambler as I constantly reped and popped cap boosters until I went boom. Also, when I say they reped back to full, I mean I one shotted a frig into hull, then the hull-armor-sheild all repped back to perfect.
Oh well, maybe I need to pop the named guy first. I seem to recal a similar situation in one of the regular missions where you had to pop the named guy first. I guess I'll go t1 gank and see if that works.

Trimarked cane just adds hp and alot more mass :/ i tried this on SISI yesterday (testing boosters) and i had to overload my XL booster on my vargur to keep up and it was still a little tight even whilst on the "blue pill" with the mercs their DPS will skyrocket once they get in range and your arties will suck.
keep your distance and use the speed of the cane to keep safe. once that scram dude dies then you can rewarp to get the advantage and keep trying to alpha the webbers.
DO NOT kill that gallente rax. the first bit of damage and the first wave spawns, when hes in armro the next wave spawns. if you cant tank the first wave then your fubar for the second.
24 minutes .. please say you didnt gank him :/

What kind of damage are you doing? Angels discard EM damage like water off a duck's back. Make sure you're using explosive or kinetic ammo. If you've got any missile skills, do the epic arc in a drake (or even better a Nighthawk). You should be able to engage the rats comfortably from 70+ km away. Some of the upcoming missions are very difficult to do from in close in an active tanking ship. There will be neutralizing and stasis towers closely surrounded by up to a dozen 900K+ bounty rats ... and one really big ugly rat with a 10M bounty. If you can't get your weapons in range of these towers ... you're toast.
In most of the epic arc missions, all the rats aggro on arrival. An easy way to do many of these mission is to bring an alt or friend in a interceptor. The inty gets aggro, then orbits at 100 km away. The rats won't leave him ... but can't touch him. Then you bring in the heavy artillary and take them out at your leasure. Note: the big ugle rat (Ketroid Bend?) fights like a sleeper and will constantly change targets, but you don't need to worry about him till the 15th or 16th mission.

No Mikal I did not go gank him. I figured it would just end up another wreck. I was going to go for a Drake like Ceti suggested. I have one lying around somewhere so it should be worth a try. At the very least I figure with that I can tank longer than the Hurricane (my sheild skills > my armour skills) Thanks for the tips gang.

For what it is worth, I did the entire mission arc in a Drake. The Drake is a good choice for the following reasons: - Mostly passive tank. This helps reduce the problems caused by the neutralizing towers, which can insta-zap your cap from 150 km away. - Long attack range. You can complete the Amarr and Ammatar missions from beyond their attack range. Mercs and Angels can attack you with missiles from a long distance, but the level of damage is much less than in close, and they only do 1 type of damage from a distance. (tactic against Angels: destroy the frigs and cruiser, dock, refit to increase your explosive resists, then take out the BS blob.) - These missions are relatively short. Usually 1 spawn, never more than 2 ... so the lack of fire power is less of a concern that with some other lvl 4 missions.
Here is the fitting I used:
High: - 7 x Heavy Missile Launch IIs (w/ Scourge missiles vs Angels & Mercs, Thunderbolts vs Amarr and Ammatar)
Middle: - Heat Dissipation Field II - Photon Scattering Field II - Ballistic Deflection Field II (replace by Explosion II for Angel BS blob) - Invulerability Field II - Y-S8 Afterburner
Low: - Shield Power Relay II - Power Diagnostic System II - 2 x Ballistic Control System II
Rigs: 3 x Core Field Purger I
Drones: 5 x Hobgoblin II

not surprised a minmatar arc is better being completed in a caldari ship.
ive run my XL booster overloaded and while on the blue pill and it still had trouble on full DPS its running 1179 DPS (uniformed damage) so thats the DPS tank you want to aim for. im dreading getting those neut towers on me :/
