Unified inventory kicks ass for those of us that bothered to spend the time to learn it.
Now, if you want to invest your nano nerf, wcs nerf, double mwd nerf, double hitpoint buff tears on something, then make it "optional" like station spinning / melting GPU walking in stations. All out reversal is not endearing to anyone that could possibly help you.

Meh. I still don't like that I get my cargo hold when I click inventory while docked. I like the new UI, I don't like the changes to old functionality.
edit: I wonder if it's still painfully slow to load/unload containers. Haven't tried it in a few days. It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. Fight your own battles and stop asking CCP to do it for you. |

that's strange - when i click inventory when docked, it shows my inventory. it'll only give me the cargohold if i use the shortcut. |

Yeah it works great. When I change ships it doesn't change my cargo bay so I end up loading ammo in to my salvage ship instead. When I loot wrecks the behavior is different depending on range to target and depending on if I shift+click or shift+double click at those ranges.

It might be as good as the old system at some point, and they're working towards that goal, but we're not there yet.
It's still based on fundamentally flawed principle (that all inventories can and should be GÇ£unifiedGÇ¥). It still doesn't have full multi-window support. It has still replaced very efficient graphical designs with very bloated ones. It's still far more click:y than the old one. I get the cargohold too when using the inventory button. I suspect it's an issue with personal inventory settings combined with the patching done. Add to that some suspect functionality choices and it's hard to tell at this point how things even should be working as intended. I'd be happy with it after a few tweakes to the system. Nothing major, but few constant sources of papercuts like not opening new inventory windows and not automaticly closing wreck inventory windows after pushing loot all. Little things, that some polish and alternative ways of accessing things would fix. It's a UI, it's supposed to be flexible enough to adjust to our way of doing things as much as possible. |

I haven't said anything until now, because I, too, wanted to work with it first. It has many great features and I wouldn't want to go back to the old system per se. BUT, any version of an inventory system that doesn't include simultaneous, fast, easy access to MULTIPLE windows of my choosing(like before), is clearly missing the point of handling inventory while playing the game. I truly appreciate that CCP is working toward restoring some of that functionality. I will continue to play this marvelous game irregardless.
Plus some of that stuff that Tippia said,
-áPeople are people. No matter what country, culture, religion, political party, business or communtiy you encounter in your travels, you will never find a shortage of people who will make it their personal mission in life to tell you how to live yours.

I'll say it again, it's not about time spent learning.. You don't even use the inventory system enough to know what the troubles were with it. They have fixed many things thanks to the people who took the time to bring up the problems... so now you are all holy and righteous about it as if no one who had a complaint could have ever used the new system as much as you.
The only real problem I have now except for the lag and occasional wrong window popping up...is the Orca corporate hanger tabs which are still gone causing me to have to have the inventory directory services exposed during a large mining op... this take three times the space of the old system.. and when I have to have the cargo bay, the ore hanger, the corp hanger (and sometimes without the tabs more than one corp hanger), a directional scanner, local, and up to three cans open at once this makes a huge difference. I have a wall of window instead of space.
but go ahead and castigate those who are having real trouble.. obviously you've tried everything in the game and know better than everyone else (sic)... |

While further improvements are necessary I must point out that...
Your cargo bay did not switch automatically when you switched ships in the old system either.
If you simply click the wreck, then click the "open" button at the top of your UI, the looting behavior is completely consistant and efficient. When I check troll in the dictionary, it has a photo shopped picture of you standing somewhere in the vicinity of a point.
Also, I can kill you with my brain. |

True, in the old system the cargo bay closed. I then double clicked on the ship in the hangar to open that one. Now, in the new system, it leaves the cargo bay of the ship you docked in as primary and if you change ships it doesn't close or change so you have to find it on the tree and open it. Now, sure you can double click on the ship model in the hangar and it will open up it's cargo bay in a new window, but now when you undock you have two cargo bays open.
The looting behavior of the 'open' button is consistent. It consistently opens the loot can/wreck in place of your cargo hold so you don't know how much free space you have left. If you are being selective you need to open up the tree and drag to the 'aim point' in the list, or you need to shift click open another cargo bay (back to two of them again) with questionable reliability. Also, unless you want to move your cargo bay up by your targets and actions bar, you'll be tracking back and forth like mad on the screen to select targets and then get to loot all. I wouldn't call that "efficient".
In looting they made it possible to Shift+Double click the wreck in the overview to bring back the old method of allowing you to open multiple cans and click 'loot all' through the cascade. But that functionality is completely dependent on your distance from the wreck, and done wrong opens the wreck in place of your cargo window or just flies you to the wreck.
