o/ All,
After collecting a fair bit of fraps between my friend and myself, I decided to try my hand at making a video. I play in Xp and fraps in xp etc, however I am on a dual boot mac so all my editing programs [after-effects, fc.pro] are all in OSX/Mac. I just assumed that I would be able to transfer the fraps files from one to the other and start to edit them. However this is not the case, the fraps footage won't even play in any player on OSX [even tried the Windows flip4mac WMV player/VLC/Quicktime/Divx] etc etc, The best I can get is the sound but no visuals.
After doing a bit of investigating I found out that it was because there was a missing codec that fraps uses, called an FPS1, I ended up finding this program that is supposed to enable you to view it/ encode it so you can view it on Mac. However after installing and fiddling around/following some encoding tutorials on the EVEo forums, I still haven't had much luck with it.
I'm just wondering if anyone else has tried editing their footage in Mac with any success? I have tried opening/importing it straight into after effects etc, but I've had no luck.
I couldn't see any tutorials regarding editing on MAC, so if anyone could lend a hand I would greatly appreciate it. [and you'll be able to see some ashimmu pvp footage] :D
Cheers.

Top of my head:
You'll need to convert the files to a generic AVI format that'll be read by the Mac.
Download a freeware program called virtualdub and run it in xp to do the conversion.Linkage
Virtualdub can do batch runs, so you could chain a whole series of Fraps files and get Virtualdub to convert them overnight, for example. Depending on the quantity of files and their size it could take quite a while though.
Once complete, AE and FCPro should have no problem reading them.

You need Fraps installed on the computer that you want to play the footage on. It has its own codec.
Easy solution is to compress the footage on the PC with fraps using something like vegas, into something more generic.
