Edited by: Cell Satimo on 25/10/2004 10:54:57 Does anyone know if the Skill Auto-Training is still in game?
Some players may remember that about 1.5 years ago: - Running your afterburners would add to your afterburner skill - Activating and undocking your Battleship would add to your Battleship skill - Fitting Cargo Expanders would add to your mechanic skill - etc.
Because I partially train skills very often, I can't tell just by looking at my skill levels

To my knowledge this feature has been taken out. The only way in whih to train skills is to train them individually. Would be a good idea to bring this into the game though. Would allow training to improve a lot quicker

Thanks. Bringing it back would also be a reason not to train less critical skills to level 5 .. because you would get there in the end anyway. | Join eve-webring.com to promote your site. |

They took this out because people would just go afk while shooting at roids with ab/mwd running. CCP decided it was too exploitable. At least that's what I've heard.

I think they should bring it back anyhow. As long as they coded it right, that skill would give you "rewards" for doing things in the game such as missions, transporting and trading goods, and fighting rats and pirates. Anyone else think this system would work well in eve?? (not to mention i think it would make the pace of the game a little faster - aka less boring for those like me who don't like waiting a week for my skills to train...) |

Yeah instead you can grind mobs 8 hours a day for XP
I would like something like this system back to. But making it non-exploitable would be next to impossible, without actually introducing XP (ie only get increases for actual use of the skill in combat). Some stupid bastards always have to ruin it for the rest of us. --------------------------------------------------

My big draw to EVE is the fact I don't have to invest hours a day in order to advance my character. I can take week-long breaks and do something else and I'm still keeping pace with my corpmates. Its probably why I'm sticking with this game for so long. I usually get burned out with a MMORPG after a few months, since you have to play hours on end in order to get anywhere.

So why not make it xp based? It would be so much more satisfying knowing that the 20 minutes you spent killing off a band of pirates paid off - not just with a reward of isk (i can get that money elseware anyways), but with a reward of skill points, thereby getting you closer to leveling up whichever skills you used to fight off the pirates.
I'm not asking for a giant amount of skill points added on, but just a few for everytime you use the skills "in battle". It's just something to make the game more fulfilling (not to mention it would make complexes much more popular). |

if they were going to implement this then it would have to be a very very small increase, something along the lines of 1 point every 5 minutes of use, this of course would be open to alot of abuse, however if there was a work around for this then it would be quite good,
i myself am not an extreemly active charcter so i would be disadvantaged by this, but with only a small change it wouldnt be too much of a change.

the main reason i play EVE is because of the time-based offline skill system. I have never played another MMOG beyond the trial period (well not since they were text-based) and i will never play another one unless it has a similar system to EVE.
Doubtless 99% of all the other players with wives/kids/lives/jobs would cancel their accounts and the community would be replaced with unemployed spotty teenagers with too much time on their hands. Much like all the other MMOGs on the market. EVE would lose it's niche and would probably die.
Thankfully, i think CCP realise this, and so the game will remain free of such a fate.
