The last time I spent any considerable amount of time in a POS was over a year ago and we used to have rats warp to the POS occasionallyà

mmm very strange i know that back in the old days of ship logs there were NPCs at the moons but they were the precurser and included static complexes now cosmic signatures and anamolies, interesting if youre sitting afk outside some pos shields i guess they dont appear to shoot pos they were destoryable and lootable. Wlle ill put it down to something odd hey a factional or the odd officer spawn wouldnt go astray

thats happened to a friend of mine a few times.
think it's a server glitch.
you sometimes see npcs turn up at stations too.
i've heard it can be caused by some exploration sites, or missions with asteroids in them, and maybe some other things too. Cos if you mine in a missoin, belt npcs sometimes turn up, and then if you hand in the mission, the asteroids disappear, but those belt npcs are still there, so they try and go somewhere, and end up at either a belt, or at somethng people warp to, like a Pos or Station.

It happens when rats at the local Asteroid Belts warp off. Every now and then they run off somewhere there not supposed to go. I know this because I was fighting a True Sansha Spawn over in Providence, when the bastard warped off. Lucky for me, a corp mate yells in corp chat, "holy crap a true sansha just showed up at our POS. Shocked, I warped in, finished him off, and claimed my Implant, True Sansha Thermic Hardener (I think?), and some other random goodies. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CAPSLOCK, BECAUSE SOMETIMES REGULAR FONT JUST, ISN'T, GOOD ENOUGH. |

Strange. I went to a safe spot, in low sec, and rats jumped in. I thought CCP was putting something in the water, till I remembered it's just pixel water. |

Did you POS shoot those rats? If so, nice additional income. Good step for risk / reward issues.

Have seen rats at station and poses pretty often. Only once hade them jump to my ss though, left me pretty confused.

It is rather amusing seeing 2 BS rats spawn on a jumpbridge.
Or the reaction in local in a large missioning hub when a couple of cruisers spawn on the main mission station. --------------------------------------------

I believe there's a spawn mechanic that allows NPCs to spawn on any loaded grid that has been occupied for a certain amount of time. -----

I'm so sorry for laughing, but due to your style of writing and your punctuation, all i can see in my mind is ".... and there was this one time, at Bandcamp..."

Oh, lol.
Yes... I see, a fairly long sentence, with commas, seperating all the little bits, does resemble the way she talks, doesn't it?

More likely its because you warp off from belt/gate where npc spawm was about to apear but instead it's spawm point gets moved to the grid where you warped to, i have seen this happend in 0.0 when camping a gate npc apear out of thin air just before a player warps to the grid, seen it happend so many times it cant be a coninsident
edit. In the olden days before the scanner nerf, if you scanned a belt from a planet it was empty, but when you iniated warp and canceled it and scanned the belt again the was a npc spawm that wasn't the before. thus starting the warp caused server to trigger an event

Spawns can be triggered on warp-in. This goes for all locations with traditional NPC spawn locations (ie: belts and gates). Similarly, I believe I have heard some suggestions that a spawn can also be triggered by a warp-out event (you start a warp from a belt, a spawn appears at the belt). -----

so if im understanding this right if youre on after dt and got a system of empty belts intitate warp to each belt then cancel. And u should be able to trigger a spawn if its due at each of those belts, interesting
