Question: Why are the CSM terms so short? Wouldn't it be easier for everyone involved if each CSM lasted a bit longer? As it is now they have to step down long before the fruit of their labour is in the game. They just about get warmed up and then they have to leave again

Flame me to a crisp if this has been asked before, but why is there any need to publish the applicants' Real Life details?
If CCP need to identify each applicant, then couldn't they do so without revealing information that can be (and has been) abused as a vector of attack?

As far as I'm aware, the fact that candidates names are revealed has yet to be "abused", like you suggest.
Care to expand further on it?

Just the feeding frenzy that occured the last time the CSM hit the headlines. A few folk may have took things a bit too personally, I felt.
'course, I could have misread forum bluster as genuine malice.

yay! although I still need a passport don't I?
tbh talking about internet spaceships like they are serious business hasn't been an important reason to get one. but the travel restrictions to Canada are making me want one. You're posting again!? Has it really been 5 mins?

I'd considered running for the first CSM but was still in university and it was a big time committment. Now that I've graduated, maybe I should give it a shot and see if I can make a positive difference to the game.
I also agree that the terms are too short, some of the best candidates are now excluded from applying due to the two term limit and new ones worth backing are going to become increasingly hard to find.

I wonder how many votes Chribba would get if he ran? Might be fun to see the results, as it's probably reasonable to expect him getting 2x or more as many votes as the next guy/girl. ---- --- ---

Do you wish faction industrial ships? Do you want chance to be able to explore depths of empires without griefers? Do you wish that yours alliance becomes protector of low security with help of CONCORD? Do you wish more manufacture/research/copy slots based on your corporation standings? Do you wish more high security systems? t3 industrial ships, and high sec moon mining..yes they can become yours reality. If you answered YES to at least one question above then you should vote for me when my candidacy becomes official. I will write more elaborate plan with lots of happy faces.
But I promise you that, If there is need I will offer my body to devs and become theirs sexual slave if that is needed to this changes become part of EvE reality.
...and my body isn't only asset that I have. Its true I have 190IQ and one big...heart.

If I do not currently have a passport, but I am in the process of getting one, is there some loophole to the necessity to have one before October 15th? It takes 4-6 weeks in the US to get a Passport.

Idd. If it was me, i'd decline running on that alone. You do in fact have something to hide, it's called your privacy and the right to remain anonymous. Most people just don't understand or, rather, realize the importance of it until they have lost it and it's loss has been used against them.
CCP might have a need to know, to make a serious enough check on your accounts, but it's not like the whole of eve (and the internet forever after) needs to know.

This is internet spaceships. If you don't take things "too personally" you are doing it wrong!
Any word on when the application will actually be possible, getting a "no submission at this time" page thingie.

My beef is not so much this on its own, but it does seem inconsistent that RL names of those wanting to do good for the game get published, while great care is taken to protect a player's identity when they are banned from the game.
Good luck to those who make it, anyway.

Your presence on massively could get you quite a few extra votes.
On a more serious note: is cat running again?
edit for timer:

that would solve the problem of other asteroids being less valuable than others, giving all roids an equal chance to get cut by lasers

It's simple. CCP will not release your real life identity for simply playing the game. You will not lose this right.
Running for CSM is optional and CCP calls the shots on how they want this managed. Quite frankly, anonimity and asshattery seem to go hand in hand these days on the internet so I'm perfectly fine with CCP releasing real names to force some form of accountability and responsibility on whomever decides to run for CSM. When there is no accountability it is very easy to be an internet jerk. And unfortunately there are quite a few of them online already.
