Ambarenya wrote:Hey all,
I recently resumed playing EVE and wanted to make a few tweaks to my character. So, I went into the character creator, edited my character and returned to the game - everything was pretty routine. However, about 20 minutes into playing, (my portrait had been fine for the 1st 20), I realized that my pic was a bit off center, so I went to retake my portrait. When the character creator loaded up, my character no longer had his slightly tanned skin, but looked like he had spent about 10 days in a tanning booth. I know this must be the skin tone error that had been hinted to by a few other people, but the most recent patch did not fix my character. I'd really like to have this issue resolved, especially since it's so simple.
Please help!

P.S. I sent a petition a few days ago, but I still haven't gotten a response. When was this? I fixed the bug that was causing this recently, and I have been manually fixing characters who were affected by it. The character I see here is not that tanned, is that the one with the problem? If not, could you you give me his/her name (or send me an EVEmail or bugreport with the name) so I can fix him/her for you? CCP karkur | UI Programmer | Team Avatar | @CCP_karkur |

Customer Support replied to your petition 2012.06.08 @ 00:39 and flagged it for a re-sculpt, which I assume you did since the character was then re-rendered 2012.06.08 @ 04:15. So all is good? Erlendur S. Thorsteinsson | Software Director | EVE Online, CCP Games | Follow on: Twitter / Google+ |

I don't know what he said but if it was about the Unified Inventory I'm sure I've screamed it at the screen a few times myself the past couple of weeks. Nothing about the Unified Inventory, but rather very inapproriate language with racial and homophobic slur and rudeness. If it had just been complaining about the inventory I would have asked him to take it somewhere else, because it's not productive at all to be complaining about it in every thread you see a dev in. Par'Gellen wrote:Well that's nice but given the amount of ignored feedback it's the only way we can even get anything in front of your eyes. Even if it's only long enough for you to dismiss it. Well, it's like sometimes people don't realize that we are just individuals, and we are of course not all working on the unified inventory. And to be honest, I get a little bit annoyed when threads where I'm trying to help people with something that has nothing to do with the inventory are taken over by inventory rant (not getting annoyed at you though because you weren't really ranting and this thread wasn't going places anyway).
There are threads where people can post their feedback, and we try to direct people to those threads because the people working on the inventory are reading them, and it's going to be hard for them to follow any random thread in case it has some inventory feedback.
Anyways, I should get annoyed at myself now because I'm ranting and talking about the inventory in non-inventory thread CCP karkur | UI Programmer | Team Avatar | @CCP_karkur |

Just do me a favor and tell any dev that you pass in the hall that IS working on the UI project that we aren't happy with it. Thanks! No problem, I kind of hijacked it myself
I don't think I need to tell the inventory guys that, they know that people are upset and are working very hard to improve it!
So back to the original topic... Ambarenya, is your issue fixed? CCP karkur | UI Programmer | Team Avatar | @CCP_karkur |

My appologies for the misunderstanding. I was feeling a little silly and half-kidding in my original reply. I wasn't trying to hijack the thread and appologize for knocking it off track. We have seen this misunderstanding crop up repeatedly. Even if CCP karkur and CCP Punkturis are by far the most active UI Developers on the forums and Twitter then it so happens that they were not and are not working on the Unified Inventory project. There are many other UI Developers on the EVE Project in addition to CCP karkur and CCP Punkturis: CCP Optimal, CCP Frellicus, CCP Colgate, and even CCP Snorlax if we include UI Rendering. Then there are UI Designers as well: CCP Arrow and CCP Sharq.
CCP Goliath and I (he's the QA Director, I'm the Software Director) are currently working on a dev blog to explain the development methodology we currently use on the EVE Project. The short version is that development is done in cross-functional teams that use scrum or kanban methodologies. Each game feature team typically has 2-4 programmers (DB, Server, Client and UI Developers), 1 tester and 2-3 designers. The art- and graphics-centric teams have different compositions. Each team works on particular features in each release cycle, with a release cycle typically being 2-4 months of development done in a series of 2 week sprints. Release cycles overlap, e.g., Crucible 1.5, Crucible 1.6, Escalation and Inferno were all ongoing at the same time in different sandboxes.
Therefore there is no "UI Team" from a development perspective. That being said, such a group does exist as a cross-team group of professionals for knowledge-sharing purposes / community of practice, but it is not responsible for development activity but rather the teams are. Par'Gellen wrote:CCP Explorer, Thanks for the clarification. When I said "UI project" I meant Unified Inventory not User Interface. I've had the terrible Unified Inventory treeview thing beating me all about the head and shoulders for the past two weeks and now I'm seeing "UI = Unified Inventory" in my sleep. haha, this is a real eye opener for me... people keep saying "the new UI" this and that, and I have always thought "why do they always talk about the inventory as "the UI", it's not like it's the only user interface in the game?"... of course I knew from that context that they were talking about the inventory, but I am just realizing now that for most of those people, UI probably stands for Unified Inventory
