Hi. We're at the round table at the moment with Transgaming. There's myself, CCP Casquade, GM Retrofire, TG Maladara and TG Skeletor. I'll try to post a couple of the points we cover once we're done.

Here is a question I also want to pose to the dev's. The new In Game Browser is going to be running of Chromium, is this going to be all in the back end? Or is this going to be problematic for Mac users consider the current state of said browser on the Mac?

Chromium has worked under Wine for some time. Presumably there's not going to be too much trouble getting CCP's implementation of it to run under Cider. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

The browser and the rendering engine are quite different. The Chrome folks ran in to problems creating the UI - OS X's GUI toolkit was not intended to be used to build one single program that had each tab act as its own process.
Unless Transgaming is doing some serious voodoo, the status of Chrome/Chromium's OS X ports are completely irrelevant to us. We are using the Windows version of the EVE client wrapped with Cider. I presume they haven't managed to link a Windows binary to an OS X library file, so we're only concerned with the _Windows_ version of Awesomium/Chromium. --- Owl |

Nope - we are indeed doing serious voodoo so that EVE will use the OS X version of Chromium. Without this, Mac browser plugins could not be made to work.
This is actually something we do a fair bit in different cases - we expose OS X or Cocoa code through a Win32 DLL interface so that both APIs can be used in the places they are most appropriate.

sweet.
have you ever considered adding an option to change browser? e.g. when running in windowed mode one would prefer to open links in the normal browser. i could imagine a right click option like "open url in external browser". when running windowed screen space is even more limited so having your external browser maybe at the 2nd monitor is my personal preference.
since i doubt cider will support the dual/multi monitor setups anytime soon. (especially since i'm running different screen resolutions on mine).

CCP has said all of the lectures will be going up, but they've only been posting a couple of videos per day. I'd imagine the Mac video will be one of the last. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |
