Edited by: AiIIe on 04/10/2009 16:08:56 Edited by: AiIIe on 04/10/2009 16:07:09 I remember seeing a thread ages ago about a kestel owners manual that a guy made, it was very awesomesauce and inspired me to make my own. I'd tack this onto his thread if I could find it, but I designed mine with a significantly more serious approach so I guess it warrants its own thread.
host doesnt like hotlinking, so http://aille.freehostia.com/files/Imicusguide.pdf
This is a first draft, finished writing at 3:01 AM, havnt spellchecked, so enjoy. this guide is for the gallente Imicus frigate, my ultimate aim is to make a guide for the vexor that appears 100% authentic, but I havnt actually sat in a vexor yet because I cant justify blowing 80% of my wealth on one hull :P
constructive criticism please! and if anyone more experienced with the search function could provide a link to that kestrel guide? please note mine is intended to be significantly more serious then his, dont read this if you're looking for a laugh, its more of my take on immersion.
what do you guys think about a vexor guide? I'd like to make something that I could print out and have like a respectable 'book' of vexor operation. this is really just detail of the ship, I'd like to make up what say the 'engine control station' looks like and how to operate that position. and all the other control stations and other points of interest throughout the ship. But then that'd all have to be taken with probably a shakerful of salt :P

Edited by: Jerera on 04/10/2009 18:02:26 I love it... It's terribly great !
I'd suggest you use LaTeX to make a "cleaner" and more "professional" PDF document. Your font and the unjustified text is just so... "amateur".
[Edit] I'm definitely doing this for my favorite ships ! (Wait, does Minmatar ships have user manuals ? :D) But yeah, you are obviously interested in my post because you're now reading my signature. |

Can I please order one for an Astarte?
There's this damn splash screen that keeps loading whenever I'm running pre flights. I think one of the systems analysts installed it after I ran off and married a girl he was sweet for. Now every time I load up the computer I get a random image of him doing various things to my mother... It's very disconcerting!
Many thanks!

hahaha!
I wouldnt mind making some for some other ships, could you guys give me some insight in what sort of stuff you would like to see in the manual for your favourite ship? like preflights, thats brilliant, I should include the preflight sequence for the Imicus. :P
I'll check up on that pdf writer for sure, i just searched 'free pdf' at 3am, was lucky enough to find a name I was familiar with (primoPDF) before downloading a virus or something :P

alright, so this is a bit premature as I dont actually own a vexor yet, but with the funky preview function I think I might be able to sc**** by, I just wont be familiar with how it actually handles. As you can no doubt see I'm being much more ambitious with this manual. I'm aiming for 40+ pages in this manual, and would actually really appreciate the services of an artist (for diagrams) if anyone would like the volunteer, however I should really do it myself to allow all my thoughts to get out and to practice somewhat :P I dont want to give away what I have already included in the contents list, which is why i'm providing a .png rather then a .pdf of the document, but please please throw any ideas you have at me, I'll assess if they fit in with the style im going for and then include your name in the contributors list. I'm also going to be developing some interior art for the ship, for example as this ship is so huge I'm gonna state that a railway system exists within the ship for transport within the ship, I'm going to produce art showing the layout of the rail network within the ship, where all the stops are, as well as diagrams labelling the important structures of the ship and other such things. The photo im providing you guys with is just the contents list of the vexor manual. As things come to me whilst im writing (i noticed this majorly with the Imicus manual) I expect that list to expand, at minimum it will be two pages long, max three and a half. So, as per the first post (and still if you think of anything for the imicus) give me your ideas, collaboration, services etc! I really want to be able to ship this as a booklet that people can print out, make a cardboard cover for and sit on their desk all real like!

So, here I did a first version of my Rifter's User Guide :

Ahem, it's written in French (my native language), if you want to translate it, send me an Eve-Mail and I'll give you the LaTeX source. But yeah, you are obviously interested in my post because you're now reading my signature. |

I prefer to use LyX, since it's easier on me. I'm a LaTeX noob :D But LyX uses LaTeX under the cover so. ;) ----- Why doesn't anyone ever read the forums before posting? EVE is a game of adaptation and planning. Adapt or die. |
