In my experience respect is earned, not given. Perhaps if you actually did something to earn it instead of demanding it people would show you some.

Good luck with that one. You probably just lost what little you had by simply making such a crass demand.

Hmm. Mind telling me exactly where you live. I think next time I come to Providence I'll make it a point to stop by and shoot you.

This reminds me of something my grandmother once said in regards to the higher, nobler men and women of the Empire.
"Give your respect first to their position or office, if they have one. Second to their family and history, if it is noteworthy. Third to them, if they deserve it."
Needless to say, grandmother doesn't often share the company of many highborn Lords or Ladies. |

Even in your empire, those of noble birth are expected to live up to the expectations that birth bestows upon them. You do not, and it's painfully clear even to outlanders such as myself. Perhaps if you desire respect, you should treat others with respect and stop behaving with such a ludicrous sense of entitlement. Mane 614

See what I did there Vaari? Sounds dumb, doesn't it. How about you continue your work to better the glorious Empire, as you have done in the past. Do that, and you will continue to have the respect of me and my men. |

This is the most wonderful thing, Vaari.
What is it that makes it so? Is it the indefinite article in 'the Providence'? The singular 'resident'? The concise indignation of it?
Your satire floated my boat magnificently.

There are many forms of respect, but in the end, keep being respected is earned. If you got a position of power, are born of nobility, have a long line of tradition behind you or your family has done great deeds, you get a headstart in respect, people will respect you, but only as long as you uphold why you got that respect. Fail to uphold the behaviour supporting this, and you'll loose respect fast.
Respect is one of the efw things left we cannot demand, we have to earn it. And once we have earned it, we must sustain our behaviour to show we are worth of enduring respect.
So Vaari, don't go out and demand respect, it's counterproductive, and only shows you're not worthy of the (little? itseems) respect people show you. Go out and work for it, stand for your principles whatever they are, and show respect to your fellow capsuleers, and it'll come to you.

I have every right to demand great respect, for im high nobility of the Empire. Especially people of the Providence region should know this, for they live under rule of the Daedalus the Just. CVA is defender of the Empire outside Empire borders, but even some of its members have difficulties to comprehend our Imperial tradition and way.
Im often target of jokes and insults, but people should know, that Im most noble person in Providence region, thus they should learn to show their respect towards me. What comes to earning respect, even thought that I, Lord Vaari have not earned the respect of the people of Providence is ridiculous. I have done more heroic deeds for that region than most of its residents combined. |

I wouldn't worry too much about it, Lord Vaari. For better or worse, Providence in large part exists outside of the pomp and ceremony inherent to the great Empire. Indeed I would suggest that in some cases you may mistaking good natured joking for "disrespect." As we used to say where I come from, "we wouldn't tease you if we didn't like you."
You have admirers in Providence. Continue to do God's good work and know that His regard, and that of our Empress, matters most. |

Peoples should learn to tease their friends and equals. I tolerate teasing without angering from very few people, and even them know their limits how much jokes someone like me can take. Im nobleman, my work is vital for the region and I simply not have time for jokes. I have even fewer friends than almost equals in Providence, and they know very well if they are considered to be my friends. |

The Scriptures, Book of Missions 42:5 wrote:"Only through many hardships Is a man stripped to his very foundations And in such a state Devoid of distractions Is his soul free to soar And in this He is closest to God"
With so many titles and accomplishments distracting you, a little humility might help you be closer to God.
The Scriptures, Prophet Kuria 4:23c wrote: "...One can repent and pray for forgiveness. But true meekness is one that has penetrated and laid its roots in the very heart of a man. The stars above will not weep for us parting. The air we breathe won't notice our disappearance. The dirt of the earth will embrace our decadence..."

You are right, the texts do not say you should bow before "peasants," but they express how you should bow before God and how the humility you display before God should penetrate to your heart and be reflected in all you do.
"True meekness is one that has penetrated and laid its roots in the very heart of a man."
This seems to suggest that meekness is a quality, a virtue even, one that should be reflected in everything you do. From the heart is borne both evil and righteousness.
"The dirt of the earth will embrace our decadence..."
This seems to suggest that being a "nobleman" or being "above" others makes no difference in the end.
I would argue that the context of the passages here suggests that your circumstance and position should not change how you interact with those around you. In the end, you are but a passing moment in history and all that you have achieved is but scattered chaff before God.
