Hi
So i got my mate to try EVE. He wanted to start playing it and went to shattered crystal to get a gametime code (stupid me for suggestion it for cheap price). So he goes there fills all the forms etc.. so then we waited for his code, waited, waited, waited... Then someone actually called him, he is very bad in english and this person in phone was accuseing him about fraud or being in different country. My friend was interogated and abused, after the call they said they will send him email.
So nothing came, and after support ticket war he finally got an answer that the order was cancelled and refunded. Tho his creditcard shows the ammount and it has been removed from his account. After being abused, my friend was not impressed. Should have asked him to buy directly from EVE.
Damn im ****ed.
Respectfully,

Should tell your friend to go to BattleClinic's shop, they don't call you to conversing shouldn't be an issue. =)

I recognize most of the words in the op as belonging to the English language. As for the rest, no idea.

Is it not possible that he misunderstood or was misunderstood? "Bad in English" and all that...
I know that I've recommended SC to a number of friends and they've had nothing but positive things to say. Personally I think the whole phone call to prevent fraud idea is a very good one.
You should contact CCP (and SC) directly about this. Markee Dragon (Shattered Crystal) is an official ETC reseller, after all, and CCP might want to hear about problems like this.

Yeah, shatteredcrystal is pretty awesome. Also, you realize that other than being a certified seller of GTCs, they have no association with CCP? Why are you posting this here? - NEVER PVP SOBER. |

Unusual SC are normally very very good.
Sure first time I used them I had a call to confirm the details but all you needed to do was confirm your address and that it was you who placed the order.
No alegations of fraud etc just the explaination they're doing it to prevent fraud.

So your friend: 1) Didn't bother reading SC's policies regarding new customers (specifically, they mention that they WILL call you to confirm your details.) 2) Because of 1, he got upset when they called him to confirm his details. 3) Because of 2, SC canceled his order, but it's SC's fault his bank hasn't processed the credit yet.
Might I suggest actually READING the information provided by the people you buy stuff from? It usually has important details, and avoids you looking dumb in public. |

If they don't give you your money back, then initiate a chargeback against them. IIRC, this also has a variety of... unpleasant... side effects, such as an increase in the merchant fee and perhaps even a negative influence on their credit score. |

+1 for SC
using them for like 2 years now, without any flaws.
Ok technically there has been a single issue once, but its paypal to blame. They somehow screwed up the process and SC didnt recieve a confirmation of my payment. A single email to SC rsolved it, took them like 20-30 minutes to sort that out. They transferred my money back, i placed a new order and got my code 2-3 minutes later, just as its supposed to be

If I'm being 100% honest, I didn't read about their policies either I just went ahead and ordered a GTC so the phone call was a little surprising ^^; Aside from that first time though you pay your money and you get your time code extremely quickly. In hindsight the phone call is quite a good idea (although I'd hate to see their phone bill with all the international calls they must make ^^;)

I have used Shattered Crystal a few times over the years and I have nothing but great experiences with them. Yes, the first time I had to wait for a phone call. Anything that reduces fraud is a good thing for us all.
Sorry your friend had the "abuse" but your description does not match any experiences I have had with them. Moreover the number of positive responses for Shattered Crystal far outweigh the negative comments.

SC rocks. They have been nothing but polite, extremely prompt and friendly with me. In fact they have bent over backwards to help me out when there was an e-mail problem with a code.
Yes they do have a written policy to call you for the first transaction, an anti-fraud measure.
If you have ANY experience with credit card refunds, they take 5-7 Business days , depending on the vendor.
Sorry for the the OP's bad experience, but honestly all the rest of the naysayers are just schills for Battle Clinic.

They only look at the Google earth of the adress you give, and ask a simple question about it.
Credit card fraudsters make this necessary, it's an effective check against stolen and guessed CC numbers.
I'm not too sure how someone who doesnt do a check like this keep their books..

I've had many problems dealing with SC, I ordered gtc once and number I got was invalid SC refused to refund.
I gave benefit of the doubt ordered another one about a month later and got double charged, their customer service were extremely rude and stopped answering email. Finally contacted my credit card and they reversed the charge. Also even though it means nothing filed a complaint on BBB online about them.
course that does nothing but SC is barely legal, when they do work I guess people happy but most times there are many people that have trouble with them.
I know DDO used to sell GTC's thru them and stopped.
Stay far away from scammer crystal

Shattered Crystal totally sucks, despite the fact that I am a primary shareholder in/my girlfriend worked for and was fired/I don't like the look of their office/I plan to invest in the competition.

No its not, not by a long shot. Whats to stop the fraudster using google maps to answer the questions?

Its the only place I have ever shopped at online that does this. Amazon dont phone new customers, nor itunes or CCP for that matter. In fact, I was in town the other day and paid for a meal at subway (well 2 meals actually) why didnt they interrogate me with the super secrit googlemaps knowledge?

Indeed, poor service and rude customer service. Also, calling my friend a fraud and abusing him in phone is sick. He just wanted to buy a GTC and get away with it without a ****ing interogation. Respectfully,

The reasoning behind this is due diligence and the difference between tangible and non-tangible goods as specified by credit card companies and banks.
A time code, while very tangible to us, is classed as a non-tangible item by the financial institutions. This means that you cannot prove delivery or acceptance one way or the other. It is not a meal, with a presence required to make the transaction. A meal is tangible.
Chargebacks against non-tangible products is quite common and the retailer often loses out.
To offset potential losses in dealing with non-tangible products, a retailer has the option to demonstrate due diligence in determining that the transaction is a valid one. In SC's case, they have chosen telephone verification. Be that as it may, it does not alter the fact that they are still selling a non-tangible product. However they have set up a side line business in non-tangible verification called Trust Who which means that either: a) they have reduced the risk of chargebacks b) they have a better credit score as a result of this method.

I can indeed, just give me your address. Remember that the fraudster has this already or the transaction would have failed anyway

I too was accused of fraud. And my english isn't THAT bad.
They also refused to refund me until I started being fairly rude towards them.
