Edited by: Lashnar on 13/10/2009 22:56:10 And along with that I lost my ship, and my weapon and my ammo. I accepted a courier contract. Its colatteral took all my ISK. I didn't know it would lead into low sec. But I thought I could make it through. It was only two jumps.. Well, I didn't. I got gate camped. I lost 5 mil. And my indy ship. Fortunately I didn't get destroyed in my pod. But still, to a new player like me. What I just lost was alot. And I was saving up for those strip miners for my coveter.
So, now, I want to know, what would be the quickest way to earn ISK? Safely! I can't afford any more losses. Something like mining in HI-sec.
Also, I'm tempted to join a new mining and shipping corp. I hate to leave the one my friend and I started but he hasn't been on for an month... *Edit* Oh, if someone does want my to join their shipping corp... They have to pay for a new indy ship, as well as a weapon and 2k ammo.
What should I do?

Get into a player corp. Train salvaging. Ask corpies if you can help loot/salvage missions for a cut of the proceeds. Profit.

i say get a merlin or kestrel and run lvl 1s
rinse and repeat till lvl 2s
and so on till lvl 3s
...and lvl 4s
ull be rolling in ISK in no time :P
imo thats the easiest/simplest way to do it other than mining but with mining u start slow and even maxed out with a hulk ur income is a bit limited |

Hmm, I've heard that suggested alot. Thing is. I have trouble running the harder level ones in a destroyer. I don't think I outfitted it right. I might try that though...
*Edit* I lost five million out of 5.6 million ISK.

If you already have a covetor, just put some regular cheap mining lazers on it and mine some veld for a couple weeks, then get a missioning ship and go at it.
When I first started, on my first character I ended up at almost 0 a few times in the first month or so, it happens...don't worry about it too much, hell do some level 1s in your n00b ship...

Heck, just rat high sec belts for a while. Eventually you'll get a decent meta 4 drop worth a couple 100k isk, which is a large amount to you at this time. You should plow through them in a destroyer. --------------- "Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one." - Thomas Paine |

Startup costs are extremely mild. You can salvage quite competently for around 1 mil ISK, and will earn you far more than anything else at this stage.

Downside is that to make really good ISK you'll want to locate an Amarr/minmatar mission hub, which may be a few jumps away from your current location.

The easiest way to make some isk is to run the n00bie epic mission arc. The salvage, loot and rewards will net you about 15~20 mil total so that should set you back to rights with a quickness. Plus if you really like to mine most of those missions have tons of roids to idle at and watch some shows or whoor the forums.

Just sent you 6 mil, buy some strip miners for your Covetor, please don't resort to Ninjasalvaging, yes it's legal and well within the game's rules, but they **** people off and it's a parasitic tactic IMO.

By n00bie mission Arch do you mean he one in Arnon? I'm tempted to do that. I think I'll try that actually.
Also, thank you everyone for you advice and generosity. But Donations, are not necessary. You may give them if you so desire. But I didn't request them. But none the less. They are appreciated!

OP: it's only parasitic if you hold the arrogant, over-entitled view that wrecks belong to the missionrunner. I encourage you to use those 6 million to buy some gravity capacitor rigs and maybe some faction probes for your scanship if you end up ninjaing.

Ninjasalvaging can get you good isk, fail that, shoot rats in minny/amarr space and salvage
5 mil is peanuts these days, you'll be up and running in no time.
Mining is pretty poor if you are new tbh, you'd be better off grabbing your guns and learning how to salvage. an armor plate (salvaged material, mostly found in amarr space) can net you an easy 230K and alloyed tritanium bars (found in minmatar space) are going for 200K. After this you still have mods to reprocess/sell.
Fail that, there are always missions.

1) OP wasn't begging. Never asked for any ISK or stuff. He just wanted some advice. 2) OP was not rude, did not lose his composure and came to the forums calmly. 3) OP admitted that he was a new player and has a lot to learn.
Many of us want players like this to STAY in EVE, so we decide to help him on his way, especially since all he needs is a few strip miners to get back on his feet.
@OP - courier contracts in low sec can be very lucrative, but only if you know what you are doing. I personally use a blockade runner, as they can slip through most gate camps so long as you use your covert ops cloak properly (and fit nanofibers instead of expanded cargoholds.
As for recovering - salvaging missions has historically been *THE* best way to make money for a new player. I don't know if this is still true after the introduction of small and medium sized rigs (which caused the demand for salvage materials to plummet since they use FAR fewer resources to build than the old one size fits all rigs). ---------- There is always a choice. The choice might not be easy, nor simple, nor the options be what you desire - but, nevertheless, the choice is there to be made. |

For lowsec nanos are entirely unnecessary if you're in a BR.

Quit whining, you still have 600k left. That's more than enough to buy and fit a mining frigate. On another note, how do you like your pods in the morning? |

They make you align faster. Less time spent aligning means you get the courier done faster (I also use the warp speed rigs or the same reason instead of cargo rigs). Also, they can help you get away from station camps, since you can not cloak on the undock ramp, and they can easily buy enough time for a target lock by bumping you.
EDIT: Though, it is extremely unlikely that you would encounter a situation where nanofibers would be NEEDED in low sec. I still use them though for the extra speed and in case I need to go to 0.0 ---------- There is always a choice. The choice might not be easy, nor simple, nor the options be what you desire - but, nevertheless, the choice is there to be made. |
