Is there a standard etiquette or "fair" way of deciding how to divvy up the booty when you do a mission in a group?

I don't think there's a standard way to do it. But having the person who salvages and picks up everything sell them and split the profits between everyone involved is pretty fair. For plex or WH or such or for pvp gangs, giving probers/FC a little extra is usually fair. Also giving everything to the corp is quite common, especially if the corp pays for ships etc.

Most corp ops will have you dump everything in the corp hangars. It could then be split between participants at the end of the day, at the end of the week, whenever they decide to haul all the crap back to empire, or whatever. Some corps won't give you anything, but that's because they are already giving you ships and mods, and whatever you got from the bounties. Others will simply have several "public" hangars where anyone can take what they want, and so that is your pay there for the op.

I guess I meant pick-up-groups, not corps.

pick up groups exist ? I thought that was just a way to get yourself shot ...
Truth be told there really isn't a fair way to split loots that could be checked by both sides ( other than giving the other player full API access )
Fairly quickly you'll be able to do most missions on your own, and won't have to worry about this.

Yeah, in 'pick up groups' don't be surprised if someone loots some good stuff and then offers to give it to you, mysteriously gets disconnected and when they come back drops a can while not fleeted with the 'good loot' that he wants to give you, then when you scoop up the loot he proceeds to explode your ship.
tl;dr: in EVE, trusting random people is a very bad idea if, unless you are looking for a fight of course. --------------------------------------------

Things have gotten that bad? That's unfortunate. Pick-up groups used to be more common and made the game more enjoyable for newbies.
Why would trusting people in a corp be any different? Most give you "free stuff" (that you may not even want) in exchange for all the loot from your kills?
I belonged to a corp once that had this sort of arrangement and I kept on putting loot in the corp hangar, and the CEO kept saying "yeah those ships and mods are coming in for you, it's just gonna take some more time.." Again, and again. Then, after a week or so, I was told to buy a Blueprint copy, and I could pay for the mineral cost, while another corp member who had high manufacturing skills would make it for me. What happened all the loot I help the corp earn? That didn't get discounted from the mineral cost?
If you have 4 people on a mission and all the loot goes to the corp, then there should be a system of deciding how much "corporation credit" you earned from the mission. Maybe just the market value of all the loot (for reprocessable items, value of the minerals), divided by the number of mission runners.
Do any corps have such a system, and someone with some basic bookeeping skills to make it work?

What? I have been playing for 4+ years and 'pick up groups' was something that was not common even back when I was a newbie?
As for mission loot, 99% of it is worthless crap that is only useful for melting into minerals, as such, simply melt the mission loot and split the minerals if you are concerned about that, but from my experience most of the time it is simply 'whoever loots it gets it, do what you want with it', as the real payout from missions is the bounty/reward/lp which is split automatically. --------------------------------------------
