Well well well... Interesting indeed.
Are we having a glimpse on the old ships that first colonized New Eden ? Why are they close to the wormholes ? Who are the sleepers ? When the hell the new novel is coming out ? Where are the Jove ? How about some nice teaser for dominion ? ¼¼

I'm gonna go ahead and call it: War Barge.
Lovely chronicle, and a couple of sneaky references in there (Blade Runner!). Good job. -----

ive been doing some thinkin on this one in realtaion t the ship mentioned that is, it could be the mobile platfrom from wich the dust soldiers launch from, my idea is to say based on the facts that if part of the tech was found in worm space were yan jung relics are found, they were a race on the move moving large numbers of populace by extreemly large high tech vessles. they would definatly be larger than dreds if a whole society lived abaord them and thus the thruster tech taken from the yan jung would be a perfect fit for a super personel transport ship. but i am a simpleton and i may be wrong, im completly open to ideas so if yours is better and better suported then you may be right, im open to sugjestions

Easily one of the most accessible and relevant chronicles I've read....and I've read nearly all of them . Also, nice Blade Runner reference, and I appreciate that the chronicle ends on a happy note (at least for EVE).
Two thumbs up. Keep writing!

Hmmm...
somewhere in those vids from FanFaire, there was some talk about new regions to explore (sometimes after Dominion), with no jump gates connecting to.
This chronicle mentions "...like big fractal acceleration shell capacitors."
Maybe, this will be a ship designed to travel beyond the rim, far out of the charted land with its gate technology.
A ship up to the task must be a big one - withstanding natural phenomenoms and other, less pleasant things.
A good chronicle, keep them coming ;)

An awesome chronicle, one that infuriatingly promises so much more shiny stuff... reverse-engineered T3 knowledge filtering down into mothership redesigns?
Or yet though, what ARE the timeframes. The two of them seem young, reasonably, and in the initial discovery of the matching relics and their meeting seems to take place now...
But the construction of that massive ship is off sometime in the future, more than a couple months or even years really. Are we REALLY looking at a massive mothership, or are we getting a brutal tease of what we may be seeing in years to come...

Let's see what we know about future ship releases:
- Dominion will see a few new faction battleships. No new hulls, and definitely nothing dread-sized.
- Planetary Interaction and Incarna are not rumoured to bring any new hulls.
- While CCP have said they are considering more T3 ships, they have hinted at T3 Frigates being the next set, possibly with T3 Battleships following them.
- More relevantly, DUST 514 is introducing a lot of new technology to the EVE universe - among them the so-called "War Barge" that serves as mobile base for a DUST group. These vessels will carry a great number of Mobile Command Centers (atmospheric craft said to be about 300 meters in length, somewhere between a frigate and a cruiser if I'm not completely off). As the War Barges need to carry a lot of these MCC, together with other facilities, they can be expected to be dreadnought-sized at least (EDIT: in fact, there is a War Barge in the DUST 514 trailer, the Helios of Ishukone. It's a very, very, very big ship.). In addition, as CCP seems hesitant to actually place these War Barges in the EVE world in a way that allows the EVE players to destroy them, the War Barges will require a special kind of propulsion and FTL in order to move freely without incurring the problems of traditional stargate or jumpdrive travel.
Thus, based on our current information, it is most likely that the ship in the chronicle is a prototype for a War Barge.

Yeah, the war barge thing makes sense, but a bit of a letdown, since it doesn't have anything to do with us. Meh.

Well, I do believe that Molock is head (or a manager) of the EVE Content Team in Atlanta, so perhaps this is his way of saying that it will be relevant to us.
I guess we just have to wait and see. -----

Possibly, except that by my reading, there are several YEARS between the initial events of the story IE discovering similar engine components/hospital encounter and then the later display of the prototype ship. Given that EVE storytime moves at the same pace as our RL, then somehow I think that the final end product may be something else other than just our War Barges or updated motherships.
Unless I misread. Which is entirely possible.

Ok, the concept of "Skymother" seems to indicate that this new behemoth could possibly be some sort of new super weapon, like say a tier 2 Titan. A ship that blots out the sun and reigns hell down from the sky. This Chieran fellow is Minmatar (possibly due to the Amarr battle reference) so this could be some sort of break away faction of the Minmatar, who plan to comit their final vengence on the Amarr. This is my theory, I'm probably wrong but there you go. We ride the frontiers of space, we fight the epic fight, we are gods in our own right. So why cant we land on a planet a stretch our legs? |

Must have missed the mention of new regions. Is it somewhere in one of the FF vids?
Since the timeframe doesn't fit with the war barge for Dust, this would sound quite reasonable. A massive ship, pretty much like a jump-capable station - a mothership (with the redesign of supercarriers, the name is now aviable, again).
Looking forward to more info at FF 2013 .

very nice. one of my favorites.
Gotta say war barge sounds like most likely but I'll throw another idea out there. What if this is a non combat ship, sort of like a moving station. A lot of minmatar culture is nomadic so having entire countries that could just get up and jump to a new system seems like something we might want. Of course that adds very little to actual gameplay.
Anyways, it's good to here something about the minmatar that isn't just "we kill lots of amarr" even if it ends up being used to kill amarr. ------------------------------
