This christmas i'm probably going to be getting myself a macbook pro with final cut pro studio 3 suite - was wondering what/if there is a good substitute program for fraps on the mac?
If so what?

well ive been using both mac and pc for years, there can be some odd graphical glitches but eve runs well. as for screen capture ive found none with good quality, not any open source at least. im sure there must be summing tho

I use VLC to capture the screen both on Mac and on PC
you can see some stuff on my youtube, youtube compresses it a bit but it gives you an idea of the quality which imo is on par with what I've seen from other eve videos.

I've found quite a lot of people don't know you can use VLC to record screen casts its probably the best media player application around. I use it for transcoding TV as well as you can convert it to h264 on the fly and it works on any platform, linux mac, windows etc...

Thanks alot, I had no idea VLC could be used either... i'm looking at it now though and have absolutely no idea what im doing, got a quick few sentences to explain how to use it?

File->open capture device (mac key + R)
Select screen for the capture device and crank up the fps (this can be pretty cpu intensive) I use about 20 or 35 frames on my macbok pro handles ok with 1 eve client open, if I was dual boxing eve I'd be a bit weary here.
Tick the streaming/saving box and hit settings.
Better yet I made a demo video
