I guess this is the right forum to shamelessly plug my EvE blog, Just A Girl And Her Thorax . I wrote it for several months in 2007 when I played and now that I'm back I've decided to take it up again. I've been posting again since Tuesday and I've already got six new posts up.
Basically it's about my adventures in EvE, not just in character but also as a player, as well as my musings on a variety of weird and hopefully interesting topics and how they relate to EvE, MMOs, gaming, and whatever else my warped mind produces.
I hope you'll drop by and give it a read! :) My EVE Blog: Just A Girl And Her Thorax |

Heh, I was thinking that as well
Also, I tried to read some of it, but my brain threw an exception due to the contrast of pink writing on black background
Perhaps a more aesthetically pleasing contrast would be in order?

I could try lightening the pink text, but I've found that white against black can be even harder to read for some. The reason for the pink and black theme is personal, they're the signature colors I use on my personal blog, radio show website (when it's up...should be back soon), and other online activities. If I could paint my ships pink and black I have no doubt that I would.
Funny thing is, in all the time it's been up (close to three years now) you're the first person to say the site is hard to read because of the color combo. Does anyone else feel the same way? I'm personally inclined to keep the pink text, but if enough people really do find it annoying I'd be willing to change it to white. I love dark backgrounds, though, and I really don't want to change the black at all. My EVE Blog: Just A Girl And Her Thorax |

Oh and originally when I named the site, I was thinking of it as play on "Just A Girl and Her Dog". I simply assumed EvE players, for whom my blog is obviously mainly intended, would get the joke immediately because they know what a "Thorax" is in the context of EvE. Of course, there are always those with dirty minds who will fill in their own blanks, and that's ok, too. It not like it was entirely unexpected.
I titled it as I did because I want people to notice it. If people notice it, hopefully they'll click on the link and give it a read. And hopefully, if they give it a read, they'll enjoy it and come back and read more and add their comments.
Yes, it's shameless self-promotion. Hopefully, it'll work really, really, well. My EVE Blog: Just A Girl And Her Thorax |

Thanks for the kind words and I hope you'll stick around and participate.
You're exactly right, once you're in this game, you're in and you need your fix. I'm halfway through Empyrean Age right now so that's helping, but I'm also seeking out a lot more EvE media than usual (because usually most of the available time I'd have for this is taken up in-game...my own EvE-capable PC is due back from the shop in a couple of days (I hope)).
After being gone from the game for two years, I've come to appreciate this game and what it offers even more than I did when I first played, mainly because now I have a lot more to compare it to. I was heavily involved in the Fallen Earth beta and the first month it went live but when I returned to EvE there was just no contest and I quickly found myself as completely into EvE as I've ever been, perhaps even a bit more because I was able to play as just a pilot again instead of as a corp director. I guess my stay in Fallen Earth was probably average, about four months all together with the beta and live time. Within a few weeks I'll begin the second actual in-game year of this toon.
I'm always finding Eve-relevant stuff to write about, including stuff readers clue me in on and I go check out. Many times readers will make suggestions as to how I should proceed in-game and I'll take the advice if I find it sound, and then I'll write about how it turns out.
In addition, I'm always up for link exchanges with EvE-relevant sites. My EVE Blog: Just A Girl And Her Thorax |

Glad to see an old face back again. Have you signed up for another year or are you taking it a month at a time this time? |

I've signed up for the quarterly plan (can't afford a full year right now), but I'm back and I'll be sticking around.
As far as who I am in RL, I've left all kinds of clues all over the place, though I don't really advertise it. ;) My EVE Blog: Just A Girl And Her Thorax |

That's cool, but I hope you'll keep reading anyway! I'm going to be taking a different career path from my last time in-game and so I suspect things will keep getting interesting.
Last night I lost a ship in combat for the first time since coming back to EvE. So, of course, I wrote about that (and a lot more) this morning. :) My EVE Blog: Just A Girl And Her Thorax |

Not always, just at the moment. It's a blog about my adventures in EvE, wherever they take me. Sometimes they take me to PvE, sometimes to PvP, sometimes to other facets of the game. I place no real limits on myself as far as what I write about on the blog, only that it has some sort of relevance to EvE.
If you read back a ways, you can read of my limited PvP adventures two years ago. This time, my plan is to eventually head to 0.0, so I expect there'll be a lot more PvP in my future, and of course, I'll be writing about it. My EVE Blog: Just A Girl And Her Thorax |

Nice read really and I like the different topics you approach. =)
From a pirate point of view though, I'd prefer that CCP opens the gates to more piracy as it has become more difficult as it is. One has to really invest more time and wits to get the results he wants (I am talking high sec not low/nullsec).
In our current world, police doesn't appear out of nowhere when you commit a crime. It may take time till they catch on. This effect is somehow simulated when the sec status of systems drops but it is still too rapid.
On the other side, I understand why pirates will get a tougher time in empire and we'll just have to find other ways to get the job done. That's one of the challenges I am facing and welcoming though. :)
Till then, your site is bookmarked and I am eager to follow your life's journeys.

I understand your position. Many players feel the way you do. My main point is that I think the risk in low-sec should be balanced a little bit more than it is.
I'm glad you'll be sticking around. Interesting things (and changes) are coming soon! My EVE Blog: Just A Girl And Her Thorax |

Ugh the colors are reaching out and stabbing my eyes, oooh the paain! The paaaain!
Otherwise a nice read, I can't agree with you on the subject of lowsec piracy either however. There's a shortage of targets in lowsec and making money from piracy is quite difficult.
Take a pirate flying a HAC solo for instance, he's spending alot of time hunting and is putting 150-200m isk on the line just to attack a lone BC or Cruiser. Assuming it wasn't a trap to begin with, no enemy support arrives and things don't go bad (disconnect etc) it will likely only net him a 5-10m profit worth in modules.
It's not as bad if you fly something more cost effective like a BC and take ransoms into account but it's still difficult for most to make a living from piracy alone. I'm willing to bet you that most of the lowsec mission runners with half a clue make more isk than your average pirate.
- The problem isn't Piracy not having enough risk (in fact, not to be rude but I can't help but to smirk a little) but rather lowsec not being profitable enough for other players to venture there.

I don't disagree that low-sec isn't profitable enough to offset the risk but part of that is because of how easy piracy is there.
And now, as of about two hours ago, I'm officially based in 0.0, so now things get really interesting. My EVE Blog: Just A Girl And Her Thorax |

In fact, piracy is the only threat in lowsec aside from slightly more menancing rats in belts (which isn't an issue really). I'm not arguing this but you need to realize that piracy is not easy, it takes alot of time, investment and effort for what often is little to no financial reward.
The risk versus reward needs to be rebalanced for lowsec (and IMO in Empire aswell) but you're tugging the wrong end of the rope.

Thanks muchly, I expect that I will. I'll also be blogging about it. Don't expect details and specifics, but that doesn't mean there won't be plenty I can and will talk about.
0.0 is pretty much an entirely new experience for me (I was there once before for a few hours during a PvP course) so I expect that I'll be blogging about getting used to the realities of living and making a living in null-sec.
I took nothing with me other than a shuttle and some ISK I'd saved up. Everything I have in terms of ships, etc. is back in high-sec. So, it'll be interesting to see how I do in terms of learning how to successfully survive out in 0.0. Personally, I expect it to take a while to become proficient, but I will. In this game, experience is always the best teacher. My EVE Blog: Just A Girl And Her Thorax |
