Quote: Another fantastic video but I don't quite understand how you can run 5 capital remote reps, especially with so few cap mods. I know you said you used cap transfers, but at the same time you said most ships had 5 remote reps. Even if some of them had 1 cap transfer that wouldn't be enough.

And then add the fact that it had an armor tank with active hardeners and full cap recharge in mids. --- I smack just for myself. Allow faction cap boosters to be traded via normal market ! |

Originally by: Seira Black I was wondering what video editing software you used to put the video together? I've tried nearly all of the low end ones, had tried Adobe Premiere in the past for work but was trying to avoid the overkill if possible.
I used Premiere + plugins + AE for it. I find Premiere & After Effects very usuable. I have no prior experience to using them outside making Eve videos, so you can pick it up pretty quickly. The next most popular one on here is probably Sony Vegas.

Glad you found the vid interesting. Regarding the cap, as you see in the main fight, the 5 cap reppers do keep going flat out even with few cap mods Got to leave you a little EFTing. Though even if you didn't run the most elaborate version, I still think you'd want to be abandoning local rep in favour of more resist, cap & remote, much as you would on an RR BS gang. ------------------------------ Rooks and Kings Blog |

When I float around high sec space in my hauler I find that I occasionally have to venture into low sec; nothing fills me with more dread than to know that I could be attacked.
How on earth do you guys constantly live in such a violant area? And why does it look so damn fun from your end?
Seriously nice vid and loved the mentions at the end. I think I'll find my old Atari STE and blow the cobwebs off. (Atari's were better than the Amega's anyway :P )

I was wondering why I saw no Nid's in your Pantheon setup? The ships only use is to RR and yet I never saw one. Is the ship so bad (slot layout and cap) that it falls short on the one thing CCP made it to do?
Great video I hope CCP really takes a look at how 0.0 is really fought, The new changes make me think no one working on the game still plays...

I think the Nid is awesome for some roles, so I wouldn't say it doesn't have a niche. However, when it comes to Pantheon, it doesn't have enough grid to fit 5 capital remote reps without a 5% grid implant, so you probably see it less for that reason. Even with four it could rep as well as a Thanatos' or Archon's five but that would only be the same rep without the respective fighter damage or resist bonus. And whilst four doing the work of five would save cap, it has less base cap to begin with (as you point out).
Still, we've definitely had Nid's in Pantheon during the campaign this was based on, they just didn't happen to feature in the footage here.
Cheers for the comments. ------------------------------ Rooks and Kings Blog |

I would like to ask you what you think the Nid should be used for. I'm maxing out my scimitar skills right now and looking at the Nid for the future but everyone I ask around eve seems to say the same thing. Every other carrier can do what the Nid can but better, the only reason to use one is to POS rep or bait. Is there any situation where you would say a Nid would be the best pick for that situation?
Thanks in advance Johndalar

Well that's the problem, although it has a nice bonus it has less armour and less cap. So a triage Archon, for example, would be able to fit 3 capital RR (as you see in the video) whereas the the Nid could only support two flat out, even with a Damnation/Legion giving bonus.
Mind you, in the example mentioned earlier, a Nid with 5% grid implant for five reps would technically be highest repping Pantheon carrier on the field and then some slaves to help armour and you start to cover the bases, assuming you can keep on top of the cap situation. But you'd still be hard pushed to pick it over the cap-monster Archon with resist bonus for this kind of thing and when the tank's holding, the damage bonus of the Thanatos is nice. Ultimately, it's a carrier with probably the second best bonus but cap/hp/grid limitations mean you have to work harder to get as much out of it (often involving implants, isk, etc.). Given the Minmatar forte in speed, sniping, etc. though, maybe that's as intended.
If we're talking about triage as opposed to Pantheon, then there is a build out there which can self-rep 20k(ish) dps via a mid-meta-level faction shield tank (which would catch up the Archon's local, if not remote, tank, albeit with less EHP & neut resistance). Problem is that the cost involved in that would prevent you using it for low-intel jump & rescue missions, aggressive ops to kill more than you lose, and all those kinds of things, so it goes back to the point of having to work harder to get as much out of it.

Guilty as charged: the eternal attraction of violence for the uncouth youth Though to some degree it's trouble only if you look for it - all the fights in the video take place on moons, which is a sign of the times; if there's a Clarion 3 perhaps the fights will be on TCUs or whatever they're making in Dominion.
The fights here are taken from a summer campaign which had about twenty cap fights (described in the blog/battle reports/forum), which probably means you're right in a sense that it was constantly violent for a month or two - though these things sort of escalate when one looks for trouble, and simmer down later.
So looking at the cap fights of that campaign, somehow they ended well for us (karma will dictate that we'll die to snowball launchers constantly) but it doesn't mean they were all suitably fraps-o-genic. Some involved us having larger or similar numbers so that's out, others were outnumbered but using the same triage tactics that you saw in Clarion one (so I just picked the one with the most dreads, which sufficed for narrative purposes to show the ceiling of what that can scale to) and of the Pantheon stuff it's a matter of choosing the fights where the viewer can best follow events.
I suppose some of the fights were on gates and there's an element of luck in moon ones being selected - but definitely proxmity to the violence you mention is linked to knowledge of RF timers; the game's as violent as one wants it to be and, as always in Eve, as far as wandering into it goes, there's an element of being in the right place at the right (wrong?) time.

It's nice to see how many people remember Cannon Fodder and the like :) I maintain that my first contact with genuinely worthy literature on this Earth was Amiga Power, though Stuart Campbell would probably still rate Rainbow Islands above Eve Online.
Someone still needs to put Lotus Turbo Challenge or Agony to an Eve vid. On a sad note though, when I recently googled them, I discovered that Richard Joseph of Sensible Software, who co-wrote the Cannon Fodder song, passed away in 2007

Wonderful video! Got link'd here from the new Dominion trailer and yours, sir (and all those responsible for putting it together) is far superior in terms of content and real Eve application of the game to a video. I do hate asking since it wasn't already stated....but is there a chance of letting us know what music you used for this video? It sounds fantastic across my 5.1 with, as you suggested, subwoofer to 11. -----
