http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=pew%20pew
****ING BULL****.
Eve players, vote + properly on the definition of:
3. pew pew 249 up, 237 down
In EVE Online, a phrase primarily used to refer to player versus player combat.
"Dude, let's head down the pipe and get some pew pew."
>:O Be sure to vote negative on number 1 definition (wow/star wars ****, which has nothing to do with star wars seriously so it was just put in there so it wouldn't be wow-*****d.)
We cannot let the wowtards keep their position that "pew pew" came from wow! That is the LAMEST THING I HAVE EVER HEARD.

"pew-pew" was around long before EVE or WoW existed, long before the Internet even. Kids playing with cowboy pistols went "pew-pew" at eachother, then it became indicative of kids shooting any kinds of make-belief guns at eachother, and lately those make-belief guns are usually "laz0rs", so... well, you get the idea.

Well, we went "pang-pang" at first, or even just "pac-pac", then it slowly mutated towards "ptchew-ptchew" then "pew-pew" once all the laser-guns started appearing in sci-fi shows displacing the "underpowered" regular/normal guns.

The point is this is the urban dictionary that is supposed to be hip and up-to-date.
"pew pew" is not for the wow kids. It's for Eve players.

What would pew pew be in wow anyways? A dwarven body odor based special attack?

Well we went ... crap ... I can't spell it ... something like Kercheowwww ... which my father ridiculed as Kew Kew ... but that was before lasers ... or phasers ... then we graduated to shooting each other with BB guns and using flour grenades ... and then to war games with card board counters ... (no computers back then). Of course we also graduated to using real guns - we just didn't shoot them at each other ... we weren't hunters though. To lazy to dress something you killed and ... our moms weren't hunter's moms so putting a bunch of raw meat you'd shot in the fridge wasn't going to happen either. We were murder on tin cans though ... put some gasoline in one once at night and lit it on fire - then shot it. Nice effects. Of course - we did that in the desert ... Then all the dune buggy's came along and ... you really couldn't shoot out there any more ... back to the mountains. Then ... we all went in the military and ... shooting went from being fun to being ... work ... Thousands of rounds down range ... laying in some watery dent put in the ground by the thousands of people preceding you on that range ... Same thing for sleeping out in the cold and freezing your ass off ... Doing things because you HAVE to do them tending to take some of the adventure out of it that it had been in High School ...
*shrug*
I, myself, never heard or saw the specific phrase "Pew-Pew" until I came to EVE - and that was after having played Planetside for a number of years. *shrug*
I've gotten vague on it ... but we mostly talked about getting kills. We didn't even use the term Frags ... that I remember.

So I guess the order of entries is actually pretty irrelevant?

Maybe it takes some time before it rearranges the order? I don't have a clue. The EVE entry should be above the WoW entry though so keep voting.

Moonfire. The spell effect is basically a laser shooting from the sky. I know you weren't looking for the actual answer.
No I was serious. I play wow on occasion and have never seen anything in the game that mimics pew pew. Which class uses this moonfire thingy?

A Moonkin? Oh, I'm sure you know that a Moonkin = Druid though, since you play WoW and all.

I remember a few different noises. 'BANGS' and 'POWS', or something involving a lot of air being forced through an almost closed larynx?,throat?, but it definitely wasn't ever 'pew-pew'. That's way to 'soft' sounding for a kids game of soldiers. You would have been laughed out of town (after being pinned down, given some 'typewriters', then some 'strings' of spit slowly dripped onto your face etc etc & etc) if you had used 'pew-pew'.

I said I play wow on occasion not live it like a second life so I know every little bit of knowledge there is about it. I've mainly stuck to humans, blood elves and dwarves as the anime inspired moonkin abominations that blizzard stuck in to satisfy the furry segment of the populace have no draw for me to use.
