Purchased Borderlands today, the game page clearly stated the release date was 26th of October 2009, and an hour before the release they quite simply pushed back the release by three freaking days.
A lot of ppl. from all around the world got screwed. Allegedly they "missed the date". My arse, they wanted the money.
Apparently "they sorry" but that's life. Damn, I could have just bought it in a local store, only bought it through Valve to have it early.
They've basically cheated me out of my money with false advertisement. I'm so freaking agitated right now.
Well. So much for Borderlanding. Ofc anyone pirating it is already playing it laughing at all that got screwed.

won't you get it when it comes out?
Because if you paid for it, you should get it. If for some reason you don't get it at all then they have to refund you.
If they just steal your money, then sue them. __________________________

Oh grow up. You are still getting your game, just a few days later. If you pre- ordered it it wont matter how long they push it up. You still get it when they release it. ________________________________________________ Tau - Yeah we suck in close combat. To bad you will never get there. For the greater good!!

Sounds like Valve may have got themselves spanked with article 82 of the ECCL.

na, i bought it last night. There is even a warning stating that the time listed for launch may not be accurate and you should be weary when purchasing.
That said, i got arma2 for 25$ so i'll just play that for 3 days until borderlands comes out.

I'm glad I'm not the only one...for a moment I thought I must've misread the countdown.
It's disappointing but hopefully we get to enjoy it over the weekend.

This change of release date thing makes me a tad twicthy. The store where I bought it friday the 23rd still has that listed as the release date. This is the 360 version, not pv and steam, though.
The way Xbox Live went nuts with the banhammer for people playing Forza 3 before the official release, I'm gonna be really annoyed if I have to argue a ban from Live with them.

I would just like to say that GameSpy Arcade is ****ing archaic. I haven't had to forward ports since command and conquer renegade...
Overall fun game though, at first I was like **** this cell shaded crap. But the hand drawn textures accent it nicely. Oh god how did this get here I am not good with computer |

I was one of the guys who got the banhammer for playing Forza before release date. Of course, I just bought it off the shelf and took it home. I had no idea it was before release date, and don't think it should have been 'my fault' either way, given that it was bought in good faith... but I guess they were a bit twitchy.
Didn't get my account unlocked for over a week. I hear other folk had to wait a lot longer.

Edited by: Xen Gin on 28/10/2009 13:59:49 This wasn't Valves fault, they we're told that the release date for the game was the 26/27th, and when it came up to two hours to unlock the developers told them that was for the PC NTSC version, and the PAL version was the 30th.
Count yourself lucky, I think the Australian version is graphical violence censored.

Both correct I believe, although for me Borderlands has always had a October 30th release date in the steam store (Netherlands). They're working to fix the Aussie version though, the ratings board actually passed it without censorship, so the "neutering" wasn't required it just slipped into the build apparently.

Yes just a slight mix-up. Nothing to get all suey over. Which by the way, no lawyer would take on, because I'm pretty sure that in the TandCs of using Steam and buying from it, they have the right to change information without prior notice. False advertising people!? More like invitation to treat, even then you somewhat signed some of the rights away when using a service such as Steam. You have the right to "send back" the purchase within a certain amount of time, but a delay on a pre-order is going to get you laughed out of court.

As a business selling other people's products, missing release dates is hardly uncommon. If Valve don't get the game on-time to sell thru Steam servers, or the developer/publisher doesn't want it sold yet for whatever reason (global release dates, central servers not ready, etc.) then that's the result. I pre-ordered Alpha Protocol on there two months ago, looking forward to its release earlier this month but instead, it got pushed back till next freaking June! That's a long time to wait, but thankfully Borderlands arrived in almost good enough time to keep me occupied until Dragon Age gets released (1 WEEK!). After that, other games won't matter so much
So three day delay, you wrote 2 days ago, you'll have it tomorrow. It's worth the wait, honestly. PC users in the other thread mentioned some of the UI hasn't been really optimised for PC (instead is a lazy console port thereof) but I'd think it better to play than the console version thanks to keyboard/mouse. My siren is up to lvl 32 and it's still a blast...even on a console -------------

Music store gets told by the distributor that the new album from XXX is released on a certain date. Store makes sure people know a new album is coming, when people ask they give them the date given to them by the distributor.
Distributor screws up and delivers 3 days late. People sue the music store instead.
