We need some pilots to volunteer and help us test the new Sovereignty system. The test will take place this Friday, October 30, 2009, it will start at 17:00 GMT/UTC on Singularity but we highly encourage you to show up early so we can get you set up in the test Corporations and Alliances. Here is a breakdown of the event:
- Try to arrive early!
- We will give a short demo on how Sovereignty works in the new system, and divide players into two teams (Red vs. Blue).
- The teams will then play test the new sovereignty mechanics and structures. Don't worry, CCP Staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide directions.
- Corporations and Alliances will be set up ahead of time so make sure that at the time of the test you are fully able to leave your corporation and join the test corporation (roles removed etc.) or if you have the proper roles, like CEO, we can have your entire corporation join one of the test alliances for the duration of this test.
- The testing event should take about 2-3 hours to complete.
- We are looking to get as much feedback from you as possible during this period.
So if you have any questions please post them here. We look forward to you helping out and test these new mechanics!
Oh and if you didn't notice, we highly encourage you to show up early!

is there going to be a mac client before this test? mac users missed capital test day, and it would be a shame if we missed this test as well.

Edited by: Lord Xanthoh on 27/10/2009 18:30:59 Why is this scheduled on a Friday and not a saturday, sunday? Most people still work or go out for a beer during that time. Or are all Eve players workless?
Will have to pass on this one.

No matter what day they pin it on, there will always be people who have to work, and during week-ends a lot of people will have plans not containing eve. Friday evening does have alot of appeal due to people logging on to relax after a tedious week :D.
Still some more info as to what exactly will happen, and should be prepared would be nice :D, that way some players can set-up in advance and arrive closer to the planned time. But ofc CCP's call, just an idea i'm having :D.
Can't wait till friday.

In what form will the demo be? Should I keep an eye on the youtube channel? DevBlogs? EVE Voice or somthing else? And by the way, they should really separate sigs from the main post. |

tbh I've pretty much lost faith in the new sov system now.
Out with the old, in with the imbalanced and broken in different ways that doesn't live up to the promises. My Mitnal lies over the ocean My Mitnal lies over the sea My Mitnal lies over the ocean Oh bring back my Mitnal to me |

Maybe you people are just really dumb, I don't know. But tests occur at the time that is most convinient for CCP and its employees. Not at the time that is most convinient for you personally.

Who cares what ccp wants? They want to change how sov works. This is major game change. Alliances should be given large windows to learn how to work it.

I kind of agree, because this isn't like changing fitting on a rifter. (although a bit more CPU would be nice) The new sovereignty system has been propped up as something to bring people into lowsec and with upkeep, possibly cripple the alliances in existence now.
Of course, without CCP we wouldn't be doing the test now would we? :P -------------------------------------------------- Player versus asteroid: We win 99.9% of the time! |

Wow some of you have far to little faith in CCP. The new sov system has clearly been very well planned and thought out, and they wouldn't be making such a change unless it was for the best. Stop whining about how change is bad and just roll with it, eve can't evolve without change.

You can't spell 'evolve' without 'eve'. Well, sort of, but that's only if you jumble it up a bit.... =P -------------------------------------------------- Player versus asteroid: We win 99.9% of the time! |

Here's some more info for you folks:
How to connect to Singularity for this test:
- Make a copy of the current Tranquility (TQ) client
- Visit the Sisi patch page.
- Patch the copied client to the Singularity build
- Login to the singularity test server
- Join the in-game channel "MassTesting"
- Disable brackets | Read here if you're not sure how
- Listen for instructions and ask questions in-channel
What exactly is being tested?
- We will be testing several aspects of the new sovereignty system, think of this kind of like a "king of the hill" game in EVE
- You should pay attention to your FPS (use ctrl+f to view in-game)
- Anyone able to use multiple accounts is strongly encouraged to bring your alts!
- CCP staff and ISD will be on hand prior to the test to help move players to the starting location
- Don't forget to fill out the feedback thread after the test: - will be posted at the end of the test
What should I bring?
- Most ships should be fine, we need a good mix of ship types, including capitals
- Ships and modules will be seeded on market in the test area.
- Use drones!
- Give weapon linking a try
- Spider tanks 4tw

Some of us have been around long enought to see such things like blasters get wacked into uselness and waited over 6 years for some change. Let's not forget Hammerheads balances to BS without even taking into account thier turret slots. Or how awful some ships are like the Hyperion.
So yes. I have no faith.

This, I figured "oh, lv5's will be fun!" apparently so did the rest of Eve. Waited for hours, client running in background, so other than no immediate satisfaction, I didn't care that much. Finally connect and lagged to a stop within about 10 minutes. Went to reconnect and had to wait in like for hours again. Closed the sisi client at that point.
I know the test server isn't that robust, but last time was a disaster. I'd love to volunteer to help test things CCP, but I don't get paid and am therefor unwilling to spend hours trying to get on just to help. If your going to a call for massive numbers of testers on the main page, make sisi a little more robust around those times, or you won't have people signing up to help, I know I won't be.
Goodluck to you guys.

I would like to try! However, what time is Friday, October 30, 2009 at 17:00 GMT/UTC at -5GMT? I kinda get confused with this GMT/UTC time stuff. I calculated this as 1PM EST? Did I get this right? |

17.00 GMT would have been ok-ish in summertime, would have to have rushed home from work and a fast dinner. But now it's winter time so I'll barely be home. Too bad..

Correct. 5PM GMT, -5 + 1 (US is still on DST) = 1PM.

No, EST is Eastern Standard Time, as in East Coast USA, New York etc.
If it was 19:00, it would be EET, or Eastern European Time. |
