We need some pilots to volunteer and help us test the new Sovereignty system. The test will take place this Friday, October 30, 2009, it will start at 17:00 GMT/UTC on Singularity but we highly encourage you to show up early so we can get you set up in the test Corporations and Alliances. Here is a breakdown of the event:
- Try to arrive early!
- We will give a short demo on how Sovereignty works in the new system, and divide players into two teams (Red vs. Blue).
- The teams will then play test the new sovereignty mechanics and structures. Don't worry, CCP Staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide directions.
- Corporations and Alliances will be set up ahead of time so make sure that at the time of the test you are fully able to leave your corporation and join the test corporation (roles removed etc.) or if you have the proper roles, like CEO, we can have your entire corporation join one of the test alliances for the duration of this test.
- The testing event should take about 2-3 hours to complete.
- We are looking to get as much feedback from you as possible during this period.
So if you have any questions please post them here. We look forward to you helping out and test these new mechanics!
Oh and if you didn't notice, we highly encourage you to show up early!

No matter what day they pin it on, there will always be people who have to work, and during week-ends a lot of people will have plans not containing eve. Friday evening does have alot of appeal due to people logging on to relax after a tedious week :D.
Still some more info as to what exactly will happen, and should be prepared would be nice :D, that way some players can set-up in advance and arrive closer to the planned time. But ofc CCP's call, just an idea i'm having :D.
Can't wait till friday.

In what form will the demo be? Should I keep an eye on the youtube channel? DevBlogs? EVE Voice or somthing else? And by the way, they should really separate sigs from the main post. |

Who cares what ccp wants? They want to change how sov works. This is major game change. Alliances should be given large windows to learn how to work it.

I kind of agree, because this isn't like changing fitting on a rifter. (although a bit more CPU would be nice) The new sovereignty system has been propped up as something to bring people into lowsec and with upkeep, possibly cripple the alliances in existence now.
Of course, without CCP we wouldn't be doing the test now would we? :P -------------------------------------------------- Player versus asteroid: We win 99.9% of the time! |

Here's some more info for you folks:
How to connect to Singularity for this test:
- Make a copy of the current Tranquility (TQ) client
- Visit the Sisi patch page.
- Patch the copied client to the Singularity build
- Login to the singularity test server
- Join the in-game channel "MassTesting"
- Disable brackets | Read here if you're not sure how
- Listen for instructions and ask questions in-channel
What exactly is being tested?
- We will be testing several aspects of the new sovereignty system, think of this kind of like a "king of the hill" game in EVE
- You should pay attention to your FPS (use ctrl+f to view in-game)
- Anyone able to use multiple accounts is strongly encouraged to bring your alts!
- CCP staff and ISD will be on hand prior to the test to help move players to the starting location
- Don't forget to fill out the feedback thread after the test: - will be posted at the end of the test
What should I bring?
- Most ships should be fine, we need a good mix of ship types, including capitals
- Ships and modules will be seeded on market in the test area.
- Use drones!
- Give weapon linking a try
- Spider tanks 4tw

This, I figured "oh, lv5's will be fun!" apparently so did the rest of Eve. Waited for hours, client running in background, so other than no immediate satisfaction, I didn't care that much. Finally connect and lagged to a stop within about 10 minutes. Went to reconnect and had to wait in like for hours again. Closed the sisi client at that point.
I know the test server isn't that robust, but last time was a disaster. I'd love to volunteer to help test things CCP, but I don't get paid and am therefor unwilling to spend hours trying to get on just to help. If your going to a call for massive numbers of testers on the main page, make sisi a little more robust around those times, or you won't have people signing up to help, I know I won't be.
Goodluck to you guys.

You all realize this sov change is gonna cause ALOT of people to stop playing if existing sov is NOT converted to the new system Right?
So what does this mean? Potentialy some of the former Mega alliances that hold all the cookies in the jar will cease to exist, Atleast as we currently know them, Those fortunate enough to be established in 0.0 and NOT a huge alliance, will have a better chance at expanding thier territory, and new alliances waiting in the wings to get the chance to get into 0.0 will have thier chance. Also with the new system, the age old practice of renting regions that some systems dont even have the sov held at all but are claimed as "Owned" by said mega alliances and not claimed using game mechanics will drasticly change the volume of availible systems and possibly entire regions to those wanting into 0.0 but unable to pay thier way in.
this is kinda the whole point of these changes.
Thats not to say some of the mega alliances wont remain, however, I forsee a mass emo quit of many players should thier soverignty be stripped from them in the name of "evolution"

ccp looking good will try to get on some more info on where we should go of planets to be in or do we just meet up in fd- and get shifted around from there ? well either way looks good the 300m per month fee for each system with sov held seems fair and reasonable
Mega alliances are going to complain u will simply see them setup alt corps and alliances or rent out their non core systems to smaller blue entities.
There might be a house of cards cascade but 00 does need to be flushed to a adgree. The other thing might be if its a fixed 300m and not a escalating cost is the large alliances will simply allocate systems for their renters to operate and patrol in. And rent the systems for 300m per month to cover the cost. So unless its escalating more u own the more u pay for each additional one theres ways around it Signature - CCP what this game needs is more variance in PVE aspects and a little bit less PVP focus, more content more varied level 1-4 missions more than just 10 per faction high sec low sec and 00 |

such alliances are able to dominate 0.0 because of their military power. it will be harder after dominion for sure, but in the end if such allainces want a system, they will still be able to take it.

all i see is two outcomes the mega blobs will reign in their space hive off systems for rent and wait
Or if done right there will be mass choas and ccp will ensure there is an the landscape will be remade, large capital fleets will clash and there will be blood and loot everywhere Signature - CCP what this game needs is more variance in PVE aspects and a little bit less PVP focus, more content more varied level 1-4 missions more than just 10 per faction high sec low sec and 00 |

Just had a VERY cool but simple idea. Gonna post it here and in ideas forum.
Can we Give Sov claimed Systems an additional Custom Name/Description, simply that comes up underneath the info on screen when you are in system, under the True name perhaps. It's sooo inline with CCP's desire for descriptive not prescriptive sov.
The name/desc could be used in any number of ways, up to the holders.
* Bob (rip) could have Named their capital Home solersystem. * If an alliance gives Corps their own home systems and mark them appropriately. * Borders can have warning written in to turn back lost pilots. "Entering Ushra Kaan's space, leave now or die" * CVA could put the KOS checker in the Desc. * NRDS alliances could declare that, and even corden off some space that isnt NRDS marking it in the desc.
^^ see how good something simple can be!

So CCP brought the server down with all of us waiting. It's been 25 minutes now, is it coming back up? |

Oh and if you didn't notice, we highly encourage you to show up early!
I'm trying but guess what: 1 - There was no patch for the 6.20.103466 (one of the latest build for sisy) 2 - After making a new copy, client was saying, new build is 1.4mb, sounded good, but when i went to download page, altough after entering my current version and the page displayed that the patch was indeed 1.4mb, after pressing download, the patch was 640mb afterall 3 - The download speed is ridiculous, 300kb using 4 segments.
So i'm going to take a bath, clean the house, get drunk, maybe after all that the patch is downloaded, and if nothing goes wrong, i'll join the blue team.

So they've mirrored and not given the freeby faction ships under redeem items anymore.
Count me out
faction ships should be least they can do so people don't mind losing stuff until the next mirror.

Someone tell me why in gods name you can anchor a tower near a Damned FLAG?
This completely defeats the removal of POS warfare from the game ( which according to CCP itslef was NEVER designed to go where it did...so you let people anchor a POS by a flag...why ? Come visit me at http://amuleineve.net I do not bite and value comments! |

Is it intentional that the sov switches only after downtime even when the TCU is already online or is it a bug?
