I missed Watchmen at the cinema, and got it on DVD a few days ago.
Got home and found out that my DVD player was, somehow full of milk, and refused to go. My young nieces had visited, so I can guess how that happened.
Another trip out to buy a new player, and on the way home, a Toyota HiAce rear-ends our car, caving in the trunk, and incidentally smashing the new DVD player. So... cost of a car, cost of a SECOND replacement DVD player, which I had delivered to work this morning.
I got home from work, plugged it all in ready to go, and put the DVD in. I had an enjoyable few moments watching the opening sequence to the movie before some idiot about 20 miles away drove a forklift through an important cable, and cut off power to 30% of the city (including my bit of it) for 5 hours. (I'm guessing he's having a worse day than me, either way.)
So... power back on, put in the DVD, press play... and half-way through the movie, it starts skipping, and then locked up completely. I took the DVD out and looked at it, and there's a bloody great manufacturing defect under the plastic.
I don't think I'm destined to watch this movie. I'm scared to go out of the house to get a replacement, in-case I get hit by a meteorite or something.
Is this film actually worth the risk of Death By Scordite?

Just pirate it.
You've already bought it, and even though little of that money actually went to the people who did any sort of work on the movie, you did more than most.

Horrible idea, if he started watching it on his computer it would melt, explode, or randomly turn into a black hole.
Don't **** with the electronics gods, just don't.

Your cursed. To remedy sacrifice a virgin iPod in a cleansing microwave.
Also get ahold of your nieces parents with the recipt for the new DVD player. You may not get any reinbursement but it will at least send a message that you wont tollerate crazed children destroying your electronics. On an unrelated note, Kneel before Zod! |

Damn, I think it fair to say that the gods themselves don't want you to watch that movie. I don't think I've ever had quite so disastrous a day. You haven't made any enemies recently, particularly any who practice voodoo and stab chickens?
I'm not sure if you could be satisfied with the film considering what you've been thru to watch it. I never read the graphic novel but you can see where many iconic scenes from the movie get their inspiration. It is well made but the pace is a little off and Dr. M is the only really super-powered person in the film. It's gritty and the characters are cool tho so hope you get a chance to watch it. If not, it might be safer to read the graphic novel... -------------

Nah. It just rules out one of the possible watchers. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008
