This week we've got a two-parter for you. If it sounds familiar to anyone, it might be because you heard me read it out loud a while back. It's about faces, and what's behind those faces. The next and final part comes in two weeks' time.
Note that we're experiencing some cache issues which means the story isn't out yet, but once it launches I'll edit this post and add a proper link.
This is a new entry in our chronicle series, published on Mondays every other week.

I see CCP haven't hired a dedicated proofreader yet.

First body modification in the Silver Twin, and now face swapping. Interesting. I do hope these things will be in Incarna

this isn't exactly new the idea was introduced in Prosopagnosia
also if I had to guess I'd say this is leading up to Incarna and a feature where we will be able to change our appearance ___________________________________________________

The thing is that we've been able to change faces for a long time.
All you have to do is create a new character (or as in the chronicle find an unlucky prisoner) and swap faces for a small fee.
Can't wait to create a body to accomodate my pretty face when Incarna is released
Great chronicle btw

Disagree on Prosopagnosia, afaik the general conclusion there was that it refers to the disorder carrying the same name which the crew is subjected to.
Didn't think off the current ability to portrait swap though. Still, want face swapping and body modding for Incarna, pretty please with sugar on top

Nice story can't wait for the conclusion.
I'm not sure she (or anyone really) CAN be ready for the psychological effects of not recognizing ones features in the mirror.
Although after just over 30 years on this planet the face staring back at me is a stranger too. I thought I looked more like Edward Norton from Fight Club, but it's resembling Roy Chubby Brown as the months progress.
:(
Still a gradual shift can be ignored a total facial makeover with weird bone structure is something altogether that much harder to comprehend.

Loved the writing. The last line was delicious. Can't wait to see what happens next week.
What I really like about these chronicles isn't always the stories- face swapping stories in sci fi aren't unusual, but the eerie tone and creepy characters make it entertaining even so. I really enjoy storytelling that goes on here.

That the face-swapping and underground jails are common throughout Eden unveils yet another depth of darkness in our favorite game.
Wouldn't a face-swap be performed on a clone, to avoid any risk to one's original body?
Just curious....

People see Incarna, but I immediately though of the paid character portrait swap :P
Anyways, this is one of the chronicles I've bothered to read through completely, in a while. (That was a compliment, by the way)
Call me weird but I haven't been really enthusiastic of this more prosaic style in the Chronicles, I liked when they were simple glimpses to the world of EvE. That is not to say I don't enjoy reading some of these, but then again I feel the more prosaic approach should be used mainly for the short stories, such as Theodicy & Ray of Matar. And I in fact wouldn't mind seeing more of the short stories, novellas about important or less important events in EvE history...
...In fact, I would very much like to hear a story from the annals of history, months or years after the eve gate collapsed. There must be pretty interesting survival stories from Caldari Prime which I recall being a very inhospitable place not even halfway through on terraforming.
Well, nothing I expect to see really - CCP seems to want to keep the ancient history just that, but what I would like to see nevertheless. ------------------- This is Sig. Launch every Sig. For Great Justice. |

Can't wait for the second part.
The possibilities for a writer in such a huge universe must be great. Although I think CCP Abraxas is secretly ghostwriting for Hello Kitty Online just to compensate this dark setting with some happy-fluffy stuff.

Need a proofreader? I'll proofread everything in the building(except code) for 10USD/hr and a native, female, Icelandic assistant/guide/lover...(one with a beautiful face AND body).
I see the tattoo(SMOKE!) and smoking(SMOKE!) features are added to the Incarna render...nice.(SMOKE!)
MJ is moonwalking in his grave.
Edit: "general susurrus was more like a fading wave of sound, reverberating off the stone walls and the banisters. To the supplicant majority the voices were crystal clear, the words etched on their minds after years of daily recitation. But the masked men spoke their own tongue, and were understood by no man.
This one, prostrating himself, didn't so much chant as moan. Unintelligible sounds came from beneath the mask, soft, glossolalian wails"---that's what ruined it for me...the language was far too purty.
Not one of the best Chrons, just one of the more informative. 3.0/5.0, so far. 7 |

I will probably one of the few people in the game that will probably turn to RP once incarna comes, because I'm probably going to against all genetic engineering and face changing, as morally objective. Hopefully, some one doesn't hire Dust Mercs to kill me...
