Edited by: Manterror on 07/11/2009 09:35:03 ...Just spent the better part of the day buying, hauling, anchoring my first POS...
Just made this thread to appreciate all you alliance pos managers, corp CEO's, directors, Starbase technicians etc, you deserve medals ...
....what a ****ing nightmare. Glad dominion will remove POS warfare. For anyone who has never setup their own POS before, make sure that when you do you set aside a full day for it.
NB: Possibly wrong forum, may be moved.
My 2 cents.

Since its getting moved anyway I will go ahead and post. I feel your pain mate. However, please remember that according to CCP you didn't do anything or spend any time doing it. Your POS just magically appeared there and will make you enough money passively to support you for the rest of your eve carrier. You will never have to spend a day gathering fuel for it, transporting it, fueling it, emptying the silo or hauling the products to market the same way that any/all REAL industrialist building and selling any product in eve does.
Ok, now that I have that out of my system... Yea, they are a pain. 8 hours to set up a single reaction POS on average. Keeping in mind it usually takes 4 POSs for a reaction chain. Plus every few days spending 2 or 3 hours onlining silos really sucks too. However, you are wrong about POS warfare. This will not change in the slightest bit.
It is kind of funny that the mis-information given or assumed with CCP's releases. Simple fact is that nearly all the non-industry POSs by many of the major space holding alliances will stay up as they serve a purpose other then just holding sov. Moon materials will still be fought over as it is the back bone of tech 2 production. The best thing to do is just fit a few faction large towers with some reactors and do something in a place that doesn't draw attention using moons that have 0 value.
Speaking as a POS manager mate and knowing many others in eve, we do fill sorry that the current game mechanics forced you to spend the better part of a day doing your thing and with you only success with whatever you are using your POS for. Just remember that if its an industry, if you ever take it down it will take you twice as long!

Being in def4 alliance, setting up a pos is a rather bold move as you cant defend it at all. Actually you are prob gonna lose it soon like all you "pvp" ships.

Actually after looking through the new blog about holding system costs...pet alliances will be the "owner" alliances best friends. They will need all their systems occupied by friendly pets because I dont think any large alliance can front the bill without actively sucking every resource out of each system daily

Edited by: Master Kent on 07/11/2009 13:01:44 whats even worce with dominon is if you don't have a station you cant upgrade ur system. And if youre not part of a bigger powerblock there is no use puttinng up a station in youre sov system. a block will just come in and take it.

Moved out of CAOD which lets me answer... I *think* if you offline/unanchor the tower first, you can then unanchor everything else simultaneously, without having to wait for the first to finish before moving on to the next. At least that's how it worked on all the Goon stuff we just cleared out, the rules may be different if you're the one who owns the tower in the first place.

If you blow up the tower you can unanchor everything. If the tower is still anchored then you have to unanchor everything before you can unanchor the tower.

It worked the same way when we took moons. Sucks that you cant do this when you own it. I wish you could set the tower in evacuate mode where everything just starts anchoring at once.
That would be awesome.

Also note that the tower has to be online in order to unanchor everything (if it hasn't been blown up).

Awww... you make me warm and fuzzy inside...
I look after my corps, a few alliance, and my own personal poses (with some help from corpies from time to time)... A total of roughly 40 or so POSes...
And yes it's a lot of work... I wouldn't do it if I didn't love it :)
