We all have experienced an isk seller in some way shape or form. I have an interesting proposal to get rid of them, and have fun doing it at the same time. 1st) Verify the character has spammed an isk selling website. 2nd) Kick them out of the station they are in, and globally flag them as outlaws. 3rd)Give them a permanent aggro timer making the re-dock impossible 4th)Place a bounty on them to drive incentive on killing these people
Just a wild idea, maybe CCP or other players could add more or define more stipulations to this.

on the test server youre able to right click a person and click on "report isk seller", should speed up the kicking out of game issue.

They might care if somehow they ended up in wormhole space after being podded for isk spamming

well now that's an idea. make an un-reachable wormhole and just teleport all the isk-spammers into there, so they'll still technically be in-game but they won't be banned... this might stop the creation of new spammers, or it could just be wishful thinking... Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius, and it is better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring. |

Cool, having to go through the petition screens to do it was a pain.

Name it 'Spam Central' and they can spam each other all day. Then ISK buyers have to spend a week in there before they are able to play again. Like a kind of purgatory.

This sounds like a good idea on paper, but what would happen is they'd just keep making accounts, GM's would spend their time moving them around and nothing would change.
Keep in mind they get the isk for plexes by stealing accounts in the first place so not banning them but moving them somewhere away from the rest of us won't solve the problem, it will just force CCP to buy more server nodes to maintain the spamhole.
The current method works just fine. I'm not too keen on the whole right click menu idea. Since they'll inevidably start punishing people who abuse it, the poor saps who accidentally click the wrong thing in their right click menu won't be too happy.

Simply gagging them would have the same effect. They would hold rubbish accounts for longer and would only be able to find out if they have been muted using another account. Most people will read this thinking it's part of my post, when its actually my sig :P

Simply, after masking them as isk-seller, make them unable for everyone to read their message... So they would just spam spam spam.. And noone wouldn't be able to read'em.

This, CCP has already fixed the issue.
And when you try to report yourself, you get this little message: Why do you want to report yourself as an ISK spammer? If you are one, just stop spamming already! Why do you want to report yourself as an ISK spammer? If you are one, just stop spamming already! |

lol... btw I hope there is a confirmationbox when you click report ? I tend to have faster fingers than eyes and dont want to wrongly report someone...

That's exactly my point, they are bots, and they should be treated like any other NPC that a player can shoot at is the point I'm trying to make. Give a little incentive and combine it with a few positive ideas from the above posts, and watch them slowly disappear from the game.

They could be used for the new player PVP tutorial.
What will happen anyway is they will try personal convos when they realise their spam isn't being read. But that's very inefficient for them so its no big deal and the EVE mail system is great for charging them. In WOW they got so desperate after the spam reporting function was put in they resorted to killing themselves in such a way the dead bodies spelled the name of the gold selling site.
So like the massive increase in attacks we got on the forums after all those bans they wont give up for a while.

Edited by: Az''kari on 09/11/2009 13:28:22 I think the most effective way will probably be something like this:
1.) People right-click ISK seller and select "Report ISK seller" 2.) Every 15 reports in a 10 minute period = +1 Infraction (numbers to be adjusted based on effectiveness) 3.) 1 Infraction earns you a 1 hour "mute" from NPC channels (Local, NPC Corp channels, Rookie chat, etc) 4.) 3 Infractions (global total) = Account auto-flagged for GM review + perma mute from NPC channels until the GM review is complete
The advantage I see is that ISK spammers should get muted very quickly in most cases and GMs wouldn't have to manually investigate every complaint individually, saving them time.

Thats a good idea, but I think people would abuse an automated system. For instance I can see my WTs reporting me to shut me up for an hour even if it means a GM would give them a slap on the wrist for wrongful use of the report function.

That is easily solved. Add some sort of reputation counter which goes down or up 1 tick whenever the feature is abused. That is, anyone who reports a legit player gets +1 or -1 or whatever and after the third abuse it's a one-way ban ticket. I'd love to see anyone dare abuse it then and if they don't get the idea after 3 attempts then they deserve a ban in any case.

Simple solution:
If reported as an isk spammer you get barred from local, but to your screen it looks like your still chatting in local, but no one else sees your adverts, this way the bot thinks it is still sending its messages, so they dont just create a new toon, and we dont have to see all the spam.
