I lost my Marauder to a Dominix today.
Quite frankly Im a little embarrased about it.
I was surprised how that fight went down...
I was neuted and sucked dry so fast (As I only had 1/4 cap left when he appeared) And so there I was. Sitting in a billion isk paperweight, marveling and despairing at the same time.
I admit I had a grudging respect as he chewed me up at his leisure.
MY QUESTION: Can anyone tell me a counter to this situation? How do you defend against that? lol Can anyone recommend a good brand of Kleenex?

Don't fight neut boats in an active tanking ship :P
Cap is the universal ship killer.

Bah. I was in a Paladin.
Lesson learned.. know thy enemy. I had no idea of the Domis traits. Run away next time...

You should have a rough idea on ship fittings.
Domi - neuts - needs cap boosters. Pilgrim / curse - same here. Falcon - jams - needs eccm. Vaga - is fast and has most likely neut - keep at range and / or web it.
And so on.
Pro tip: A marauder is not a good choice pvp wise.

I killed a Golem in a Vagabond... so don't feel bad, a dominix is not to be underestimated.
But based on the fact that you didn't obliterate him with capless weapons you weren't in a golem or Vargur...What was it?
I've also watched a Golem go down to mission rats. That's pain.

I wouldn't be. Domis are nasty active tank killers.

You shouldn't be. This is how you fly a dominix. It's my favorite battleship.

Did you try to kill his drones?

How do you defend against that?
Cap boosters, or lots of NOS plus crazy high DPS, also, smartbombs. - Support DISBANDING the Alliance CCP Renamed at the Alliance's Request |

fit cap boosters they are the energy neuters best counter. i also find it more fun to do missions with a cap booster its slightly more hands on.

Don't fire at red players in your mission.

I appreciate the good info. I like the idea of Cap boosters. I just dont like how much cargo space they take up hence I never bothered. But it would give a more hands on feel I suppose as well.
Ive always been a fan of the ol smartbomb. Funny that a lot of peeps discourage their use. I wish I had one fitted at the time. I definately will have to fit one for Mark II as there should be enough power.
I couldnt fire a laser at the drones due to the dry cap and my own drones were gonzo..

TBH this is all stuff good combat experience will have taught you witch is probably a good thing to have before flying billions. But the answer to your question mate is capacitor injection. The one and only defense against those nasty neuts.
Well if it makes you feel any better im getting a t3 next week and look forward to losing it in my 1st bubble whilst having the interdiction nullifier.
I'll make sure to send you the loss mail so you can feel better

Hehehe, i've actually almost (note the 'almost') lost me golem to missionrats... it reminded me of the time i got my raven popped on a L3 mission when i was a noob.
Personally i think the golem sucks the big one... i've never had this happen with me NH... Actually i did try several setups, but... i dunno.. prolly a good ship and it's just me... 'shrugs'... ________________________________________________

If it's any comfort, I found some ships today. 2 rooks, 2 cerbs, a harb, a claymore, manti, buzzard and zealot.
It's like a special bonus reward for ignoring my carrier for 4 months; ships in the maintenance bay dont show up in asset search...

Reading this thread sorta makes it feel better. Its gonna be months before I can get back in that particular hotseat again. I just wonder if its worth the effort.
Thanks again for the replies.
