Edited by: Raketefrau on 16/11/2009 21:52:03 I got dumped 7 times today, which isn't fun when in a fleet.
I'm on Snow Leopard, on an MBP 2.2 with the 8600M GT.
I've noticed that if I go idle for more than about 10 minutes, I lose connection regularly. The client doesn't notice it, though, and the window stays up and it looks like I'm fine until I try to check mail, undock, or interact in any way.
Also, i regularly have to force quit the client before I can restart. Hitting CMD-Q or using the menu to quit is useless.

This is happening to me too. It's happened 4-5 times tonight and a couple times yesterday too. It will look like everything is fine, but it won't put ore/icicles in my hold when the miner cycle is done, other mods (like scanner) won't activate, won't warp, won't do anything. I also have to force quit it and then relog. Once when I did that it made the whole computer freeze for a minute too and messed up the graphics of all my application icons on the desktop. I'm on MacBook Pro with 10.5.8, GeForce 8600M GT. At first I thought it happened because of cmd+tabbing but then it happened to me when I hadn't cmd+tabbed all night.

Last week one evening I had 3 disconnects. I'd not experienced any for weeks and then I had a bunch of them on one night which seemed odd.

I'm definitely experiencing this on the Mac client (using current MBP w/ 8gb RAM with 10.6.2) on TQ in windowed mode with as little detail as possible. Sometimes I'll get disconnected every few minutes and sometimes I'll go for an hour or two.
There are about 3 different failure modes, I've noticed. First is both cores max at 100% from the eve client for several minutes. Sometimes this recovers. Usually I get disconnected and have to quit/restart. Second appears to be correlated with spikes in internal temperature, again likely due to the eve client since it's usually the only significant thing running. Even with minimal graphics it can still get very hot (180+ F according to my temp monitor). Third is just a straight crash-to-desktop (and reporting hangs so I never can report when this happens).
Typically a reboot will help keep First and Second cases from happening for a whole session but the disconnects will eventually return after a few restarts of the eve client in that boot. The Third case is just completely random and I haven't been able to identify any common triggers.

I got disconnected seven time already today, and I was on for barely an hour.
This is extremely f*cking annoying when running missions, because I've finally found a ship and playstyle I enjoy: the Dominix and its billion drones. I end up losing my weapons (drones) every time I DC, since there's no system in place for drones to be protected while a mission runner is relogging. I've had to drop back to my old Drake (skills aren't good for flying a Raven). My playstyle is being affected by the failure that is the emulated Mac client, and I wouldn't even be crying so hard if there was a way to keep my drones from getting killed when I DC.
Anywho, as for frequency: last night, I was sitting in station, chatting with this one guy about possibly joining his corp. The chat lasted about a half hour, and I DCed four times during.
I've tried deleting my Preferences folder. This did not solve the DCing issues, though it did make the (progressively slower and slower) login snap back to being almost instant, and it gave me something to do for a half hour (set up my f*cking UI and Overview again).
If I ever become wealthy IRL, I will gladly dump large amounts of money into CCP to help fund the development, release, and support of a native Mac client. I would even donate to a cause if other Mac players decided to. Hell, I would even accept a 100% subscription fee increase if only you guys would stop with this TransGaming/Cider nonsense. Yes, this client is leagues better than it was at release - I found out about, and first tried, EVE Online. Yes, it has become bearable now, but it's still trash. I promise you, I will grovel if that's what it takes to get a real client released.
Before anyone volunteers their programming expertise and explains to me why this is unreasonable/impossible/whatever, please, save your breath. I don't care, and I will only end up trolling/flaming you for your efforts.
So yes, Mr. Fallout. I/we are still experiencing the chronic DC problem, along with a whole host of other problems that are documented here on a daily basis. ____________________________________________________________

Glad to see it isn't just me. I'm running leopard on 2.8 gig dual-core intel iMac, and I get the same issue when going idle for more than 10 or so minutes. Not always, but a lot of the time it just stops responding, although the client doesn't realize it and stays open, appearing to be fine. And yes, a lot of time you have force quit the client as well.

It's definitely still happening to me as well, I've been disconnected 3 times in the past hour, which, as was previously mentioned, sucks when you've got drones out. You warp back in like 30km from your drones, and watch helplessly as they get eaten. Lost 2 sets of Ogres tonight.
I'm in a belt ratting, not sitting idle, but possibly not entering any input for a couple of minutes at a stretch. Set the drones loose, sit back, and.... ****, disconnected again.

Started happening to me too the past couple weeks or so. Yesterday I hauled through empire (mostly live in 0.0) and it closed the client multiple times.

Similar here. Several disconnects per day since maybe a week. NOT when idle, most times in missions or otherwise active. Never happened in station, although I had extended periods being docked and checking market orders.

Edited by: Luna Moonraker on 01/12/2009 17:11:42 I have only been playing a week but experienced random d/c over that time, both in action and in station, again usually some inactive period.
I put it down to a couple of days when the server db had problems and they had to reboot the servers several times.
One thing I found previously in other games is that, I often have it in windowed mode to check Safari for stuff and it has been known that Top Sites auto refreshing can cause some bad lag spikes and cause issues so maybe worth trying it without Safari running and or not in windowed mode and see how that helps, if at all.
