I was teaching my girlfriend how to play Eve yesterday, and I was kind of in shock when there was no Aura voice at all :(
She admitted to being confused, as I sat back and watched. I guided her through it a bit and was kind of confused myself. I mean, if I was a new player it would help to have somebody talking you through it.
I'm also sort of sad that they removed the quip "When in doubt, right click!"*
I wish that CCP would improve the new player experience by IMPROVING it and not removing it. Starting in space is not as beneficial as starting in a station in my opinion.
:(
* The "when in doubt right click" has been replaced with "The contextual menu is an important and useful tool, so keep this in mind at all times. A good first step in most situations, if you are uncertain how to proceed, is to right-click."

Regarding the tutorial, I found this rather amusing in the mining tutorial:
Originally by: The Tutorial An advanced way of mining known as Jet-can mining can make you turn profit more quickly.
The process is that you start by jettisoning the ore into a container, open the container through its contextual menu and then drag and drop the ore you mine into the open container.
lololol

Yeah, they removed Aura quite a while back. I haven't done any of the new tutorials at all and I miss her!
And man, are you serious? They are actually teaching jet-can mining in a tutorial? Without warning about the dangers of it?

Actually in the next couple pages they explain the ramifications as being potentially dangerous, but they still teach it anyway. I laughed.

The old tutorial with Aura was great.
When I first started playing it really helped me learn the game.
What it seems like they did was to just give up on people trying to learn the game and try to throw them in.
Adding all three agents to each school was good but the old tutorial was better than what they have now.
I really miss hearing Aura say " ... and let us go."

Aura's voice was removed because CCP keeps changing the tutorials and it's not cost effective to have someone payed to voice over then have to redo it again 6 weeks later.
AFAIK.

Seems like they need to get a TTS license then. The Acapela Telecom voices sound really good. I recorded a couple of my ebooks with "Heather" so I can listen to them while driving. I think I heard that they even custom tailor the voices for corporate customers, so that they sound like whoever the customer wants them to sound like. Would make the translation process easier too :)

Does anyone remember the old Aura voice? There was a period in which the voice files went from the crappy ones near release to a real-life voice actress. During this brief phase, a lot of people posted about how horrible it was, both to understand and how it didn't sound "computer" enough. What we have now is the result of that.
What client was that in, does anyone remember? I'd love those old voice sound files in my storage. ---------

Yeah, I miss her too... I hate how it is actually MORE confusing than it was before.
Yes, I bet the dev who wrote that in the tutorial is the same guy who waits for you to jetcan and grief you.
