Hmm.. we all know that most Companies producing Games are recruiting their Developers from accounting and legal nowadays ..
I still don't understand why the working (IMHO pretty nice) Changes were changed, rolled back a mere two weeks before release.
I just don't get it.

CCP, make a good expansion and communicate with your clients more effectively. Recognize the fact that ****ing off your long-term subscribers, who've been with you for years, can be the ultimate recipe for MMO death. For killing your own child.
Anyway, I could rant a lot longer... I'm under the impression a lot of people know very well what I'm talking about.
Now.. I'm simply calling here that the CSM put forward to CCP AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, the very simple idea of POSTPONING the release of Dominion.
And let CCP developers without - or at least with less - time stress get it right. You made us wait for WiS/Incarna for like 3 years, we can wait for a better 0.0/supercap patch a bit longer...................
Edit: if you don't believe this is not a troll check my posting history. I never speak up on Eve-o unless I have something to say which I deem to be important. So please treat this post seriously. Another edit: this is my personal opinion and doesn't reflect what my corp and/or alliance thinks. This is me, as a PAYING CUSTOMER (I pay for 5 accounts), bringing this issue to the CSM.

"In order to allow the XL Turrets to be viable on other ship classes..." What other ship classes?? Titans?! Get a clue man! No one uses titans when they can do the same damage with 2 or 3 dreads. That is ridiculous!

Just shows that obviously that dev either cannot understand his own changes or that he is just to lazy and doesn't care about them and makes things up out of the blue.
"The explosion velocity is slightly higher than that of the Citadel Cruise Missiles (or 2250) which means target painters will have to be utilized in many situations to achieve full damage potential." Target painters do not work on structures, supercapitals or sieged capitals.
"As we said, roles are what matter." Okay, then tell us what roles you propose for the carrier, dread, mothership and titan. Because I haven't heard A SINGLE word about that so far.
And I don't really want to comment about the fact that we had a nice working solution for those supercapitals thanks to Abathur's good work together with the players. Then suddenly out of the blue Nozh appears, destroys everything, changes everything to the worse and makes everything a complete fail so that a nice part of the expansion must be cancelled (balancing supercapitals). Yeah, great work there Nozh and great game CCP for letting this guy ruin AGAIN (it is not the first time) some interesting stuff. No, I won't comment, I would get only upset.

Doesnt keep you from making changes again in a month or two and everything is better than the situation we have now. Use the watered down version that can launch 10 or 15 fighterbombers and 20 fighters (limited through bandwith). Keep the clone vat bay. Continue the price as it is now and increase the HP suggested. You'll get a ship that ppl will use untill you figure out what roles you want for the different ships.
Same goes for Titans - they are currently mobile jumpbridges that will at most be used in their current form to do drivebys with meds filled with sensor boosters to gank a few capitals before returning to the safety of posshields. There is no incentive for putting them on the field. They need their 200% damage pr level or they will not be used at all on the field, with or without HP boost.
So Motherships - Same cost as today - HP boost - Limit number of fighterdrones to 10 + DCU's through bandwith and not number of drones launched (still 20 fighters / drones) - Keep the clone vat, ECM, EW-immunity - No dock
Titans - 200% damage to guns / level or these ships wont be used for anything but jump bridges and I sure want to see these babies on the field so they can be killed

People complaining that a mothership is too vulnerable to a titan have their priorities wrong im sure. Are capital ships meant to be single player assets? I would say yes and NO. It's ones loss anyway, but that shouldn't be dictating the game mechanics by insisting on the one guys shiploss.
Imo, there is no real scale of balance. And everything should be viewed in context of this game being a multiplayer game, with existing game mechanics and player base. So, one might have to realize that using a mothership in any and all situations might be a bad idea.
I can understand the horrible loss, with having ones expensive capital ship blow up. Time to harden up.
One flaw I believe is there in eve online, is the notion of pitting a ship against another ship for the sake of "balancing" the ship stats.

I don't get this blog. You say your dev team isn't happy with the mom design, but you don't explain why. Why were the original changes and the anti-cap role in any way undesirable. The people doing the fighting with them weren't complaining, so what could possibly be this noble goal that warrants ****ing off everyone involved. You only spout some lame and weak vague crap, that wouldn't even convince a elementary school teacher, that you might actually have some good reasons for your decision. You already had positive feedback and loads of testing, so you should be able to tell exactly what the problem was, if there actually was one.
Whatever comes of this, I suggest you review the whole process and people involved in this capship fiasco. The project manager who authorized last minute changes to approved and tested concept, that was liked by the players, should get special scrutiny. He/She seems to have trouble handling the responsibility given at this time. The comments on the blog even suggest he/she put people in charge who didn't even know how cap warfare works. Identify the problems and remove people to other areas who keep insisting, that no mistakes were made.
You had a plan, you had the support, you had tested the changes and had positive feedback. There was nothing to suggest, that anything was wrong with the plan. If someone in the desing group can't come up with a verifiable game breaking reason why the changes had to be scrapped, you might consider trasferring the cap ship project out of their incompetent hands.

Are you just throwing those numbers together regardless if they make sense with the existing weapon systems? Or is there some deeper meaning?
Because the standard cruise missiles have a smaller explosion radius than the standard torpedos. Same goes with all the other guided vs unguided missiles. They NEVER have a larger explosion radius. Just suddenly those new xl guided missiles have 50% larger explosion radius?
Yeah, makes all so much sense.
Talking about a clear game design compared to just throwing sh!t together in the hope that it will work.

Cruise Missiles V finish training in 28 minutes. Someone please explain to me why did I dump 1.28 million skillpoints (for a total of 4m sp in missiles now - as a pure Minmatar pilot) into yet another skill for a dread that's officially useless?

Because you fail at understanding the situation?
Ever since it became clear that CCP didn't consider reload times as a factor when balancing DPS (like, say, in this devblog where all the graphs happily ignore it) it has been painfully clear that the only solution to CCP ship balancing fail woes is for every pilot to train Amarr.
And that doesn't even take into account the whole "LOL you ran out of ammo?" issue which non-Amarr pilots get to hear every time...
Since you have already spent the SP on some fail race, you are also protected in case CCP some day figures out that yes, reload time and ammo limitations do actually matter when balancing ships.
But until that mythical day comes, train Amarr.

This patch is really going to change the face of this game to Gooooood-Morning-Empire-Online! - where carebears dare to NAP big 0.0 alliances for 2 more anomalies and a lot more mining per day (as long as they pay the rent)!
That's right, its roll the rock time with exciting new changes to all big-bad-ass-ships out there! (no, we don't mean Hulks).
Yeah, titans will now get to kill a dread or two before they are downed! Yeah, instead of wiping out in trios BSs and support, I now see the flocks of titans coming to the field to alpha some dreads and then staying gallantly to die a longer, more full of ehp death. Who will throw a 50 billion worth of ship to kill 1.5 dreads when you can field 40 dreads for that price and kill more? Now that the ship has a much clearer separate role than dreads () it oh so make sense to me now! Its for logistics purposes really... use the bridge module more often folks - it's now encouraged officially.
Hey, don't worry Nag pilots - you weren't worth anything before and now we're making sure of that! Moros pilots, you're gonna love ~hotdrops~ - its the new idea Nozh has for your shiny cap ions, blast a bit further gents and don't mind the drones bonus - you didn't want to play on station undocks with them anyways!
Rev pilots you're nerfed! nerfed! NERFED! oh wait...
So that's how cap sized forum tears look like . Take your moms back to their stable-POSes and don't forget to skill for capital target painting 5! So phoenixes can hit something with their cap weapons as well! And also don't forget that now phoenixes (and nags, but who cares about these) can fit the new capital cruise, which can do even less no-damage at really really far ranges!
But srsly, there's some good in all of this - you can still call those multi-billion isk worth of pixels Moms...
