Matrix Revolutions, when the commander in the mech unit tried to solo 100,000+ sentinels.
Predator, when Mac and the rest of the crew had the minute long scene where they mowed down the forest with a minigun, grenade launchers, and automatic rifles.
Terminator 2, when...well pretty much the entire movie. The scene when the nuke drop's in Sarah's dream is creepy.

Not so much awesome as thought provoking, Rutger Hauer had some great lines in Blade Runner.
"Quite an experience to live in fear, isn't it? That's what it is to be a slave.", also the scene with Tyrell when he wants more time, and the famous end scene with little speech about what hes seen and done.
Loved Empire strikes back generally for being darker than the first, then Lucas p*ssed it away with the ewoks in RotJ.
Some of the scenes in 2001 of Bowmans convo's with Hal when its going **** up.
Theres just a bit too much cheese in the more recent sci fi.

Couple of excellent moments in Even Horizon, but this was probably the best, where Dr. Weir spills the beans:
Miller: Oh. My. God. What happened to your eyes? Dr. Weir: Where we're going, we won't need eyes to see. Miller: What are you talking about? Dr. Weir: I created the Event Horizon to reach the stars, but she's gone much, much farther than that. She tore a hole in our universe, a gateway to another dimension. A dimension of pure chaos. Pure... evil. When she crossed over, she was just a ship. But when she came back... she was alive! Look at her, Miller. Isn't she beautiful? Miller: Your "beautiful" ship killed its crew, Doctor. Dr. Weir: Well... now she has another crew. Now she has us.

Opening Scene in the episode Trash linky . Might not be the right scene but...still.
There are a ton of great SciFi movie scenes.
River Tam's hero shot as the door opens about ready to slaughter the alliance soilders, after killing a room full of reavers.
Christopher's Heroic BSOD in District 9.
"Luke, I am your father" Big NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
the one that I will never be able to shake. Is in the end of the movie the Day After. When the Dr returns to Kansas City to where his house was and he sees two people with visible effects of radiation sickneess. No hair, skin hanging loose, sores all over their bodies, yet still alive. The Dr. chases them off then sits down on the rubble of his house and just cries. Never forget that.

Well I could see with the limits of the technology established in the show that a ship in free fall through the atmosphere would have a hard time launching fighters. The fighters would be falling as fast as the ship. However, when the nose gear left contact wth the ship it would slow down and possibly could destroy the fighter, by slamming it into the launch tube. The only way would be a vertical launch tube to mitigate the atmosphere effects.
Then there is the un-explained effects of jumping in the atmosphere, and while in Free fall. When they come out jump would he still be falling? Or woudl the ship come to a dead stop and kill everyone.
The Falling itself would be changing their location in space at 9.8 m/sec if earth grav. So they would have to be constantly refiguring the jump coordinates. Even if they figure the second jump based off assumed position there is still the possibility of some kind of catastrophic failure and landing in a planet or a sun.
On the positive side, I did look cool. So I would say Rule of Cool and leave it at that.

Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So, now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe." - Marcus Cole
