I have perpetually a chunk shaved off my shields at any given time. Im always looking at them when I leave a station and theyre at like 93% even when Ive taken no damage. Whats up with that? I've only ever seen this happen if you're part of a gang.
When you're in station, your own skills, along with your ship bonuses and attributes are applied. Once you're dumped into space by Eve, gang bonuses are also applied, which can mean that you end up with a chunk of shields missing that needs to recharge, as your max shield HP has increased
If it's not that, then it's probably a good idea to file a bug report

Hope this helps :3

Yeah but shouldnt the bonus be applied only once you join? Not every time you undock or jump?
OK I get the undocking thing but Im seeing this every time I use a stargate too "If the unfaithful would rage-quit, let them do so. And let not the gates of New Eden strike them 'pon the ass ere they leave." Quoth the Hillmar |

You only get the bonus if you're in the same system, in space, as the booster and leader. If you change systems, there will be a moment where you are not. So the bonus is taken away and reapplied.
What would be smarter for CCP to do would be to make it so it adds the same increase to max shields to current shields, the same as is done with armor (and armor modules fitted in space.) |

The way shield bonus is applied gives advantage to armour fleets. For example when both fleets jump to same system to fight, armour fleet is at 100% while shield fleet at ~88%. |

Note to self wait for shitlds to recharge before warping to mission. But thats just annoying lol I was trying to figure out why I lost 7% of my shields after using a gate lol It used to make me worried as to whether Id get podded using a gate in my pod (that was years ago, I have since learned lol) "If the unfaithful would rage-quit, let them do so. Your max shields still increases, so your passive shield tanks still get the benefit... you just lose about 1/10th of a volley worth of buffer by not waiting for the shields to recharge before a mission.
average shields passive recharge rate = max shields / shield recharge time
Since shield recharge time doesn't change with the fleet bonus, only max shields does, your recharge rate is still increased. And recharge rate at the top of the shields is practically nil, so it's not worth trying to let them recharge just for an insignificant amount of buffer (buffer is irrelevant in missions anyway, unless you like to hull tank.) And if you're armor tanking, ALL shields are irrelevant. |

You're also looking at it a bit backwards. Instead of thinking that you've 'lost' some amount of shield, it's more of a 'failed to gain'. When you undock, use a gate, or your gang leader enter system, you get that red section. You still have exactly the same amount of current shield HP as you had the second before. You just now have a higher maximum which hasn't yet filled in.
So you're actually in no more danger than you were the second before, having the same amount of HP, at least. |

It's gang bonuses shield amount added.
To find out if this is the case, simply dock up, open the fitting window and check your shield amount.
Close fitting window.
Undock when you are in a fleet, and open the fitting window again.
See the change?
Bonused shield amount comes unfilled. |

might not be an issue for one or 2 people, but when your shield capitals enter a system (inb4hurrdurrshieldgangs) you can actually end up missing on a fair bit of fleet hp, once you start adding a leviathan or a maxed fleet booster etc. |

Problem is that Shield max HP is boosted but actual HP shield value not. Oposite did happens to armor Armor HP is boosted and actual HP of armor too. So one or second need to be fixed and to be consistent. DEV should consider it harmonize both bonuses.
So it is not bug, it is feature favorizing armor fleet. |

Yeah but shield reppers give hp at the beginning of their cycle rather than the end. So its all good. |

I personally think it is a bug. Shield & Armor HP should behave the exact same. If they are at 100% and I get a boost from a booster, I shouldn't be docked a penalty in my shields (having to recharge to the new max) and my armor is *automatically* set to the new max. They should both be set to the new max.
If they are below 100%, boost them up to the amount being boosted. Katowen |

... and shields regenerate on their own, armor does not.
