In before Chribba...
Love the new system, though. Looks a lot better than the crap we have now.

Finally! A proper notice board for the corp!
Just one thought...
Originally by: devBlaaaag From Dominion all mails will be stored locally on your computer.
Does this mean I can access already fetched mail without logging in? And will I lose old mail if I lose the data (reformat, HDD crash/break, etc.)?
Anyway, looks sweet.

Love it :-)
I'm trying to think of a useful replacement for the "order tracker" use of mailing lists:
There are currently mailing lists what you can join (with appropriate permissions). They have a few posts with pricing information in them. If you want to order something, you post to the mailing list with your order.
It's certainly suboptimal as everyone can see the orders, but it works. The new mailing lists do not solve the problem of everyone being able to see all orders, but remove the ability to have bulletin posts with pricing information.
I guess I better ask for a ticket system for New Eden, though :-)
Anyhow. Awesome work. Thanks a lot. :-)

You can create up to 25 custom labels
Why not more?
Is it correct that the mails won't be automatically labelled with the senders name?
So, to group mails belonging to the same people will be a royal pain and actually impossible with only 25 labels available?
That is the only really BIG drawback I see (and I mentioned it on the test server feedback forum also). I want to be able to group/label my mails so that I have mails from the same sender together in the same folder/label.
Otherwise ... spiffy |

Will we still be able to read the same mails on multiple computers? Or will they be removed from the server once fetched? -- The future is black.

what happens if I play eve in two different locations or on two different computers? Email stored locally sounds like I'm going to get it on once pc and not the other. also, when I reinstall, do I lose all my evemail?

As far as I understood it: With "email is stored locally" they mean it's cached. If you play on two different computers, both need to download the mails, and then they're cached locally, but they remain on the server.

I was really hoping for threads as it's much easier to keep track of conversations in corp and alliance mails. A decent effort though especially sent mails and making the mailboxes local.

A massive improvement, Thanks!
On the local storage aspect of the new evemail, I have 3 questions: 1) Will the emails on the local computer be stored in MyDocuments/CCP as per chat logs etc.? (This is important for the purpose of backup and restore.)
2) What format will the evemails be stored on the local computer eg. XML, txt (ie. can we read them without the EVE Client)?
3) Can we move evemails from the stored local folder out, and then back again, and see them in the game client?

Mails are cached in the cache directory (local settings ...) in a folder called EveMail.

Quote: This removes the Bulletin Board function that many corps and alliances have used their mailing lists to fulfill. In the long run we see this function being fulfilled by corp and alliance forums on the Cosmos Web app. In the interim we have the corp and alliance bulletin boards, more about them below.
Ah... it is not just Corps and Alliances that use mailing lists. How would a Public mailing list recreate this usage with the new system? Ashina Sito for CSM
