The game starts fine, I put in my username and password and it gives me a dialog box stating that I have an incompatible version. Does the Mac clients have to be manually patched, or is the auto-patch thingy hung up because so many people are patching up? Is there anyway to know?
Best Regards, Sylence

Dominion deployment isn't over for another 6 hours. The patch won't be available until then, which is why you're not auto-patching. ---- FREE Explorer Lead Megalomanic EVE Null-Sec Player Influence Map http://dl1.eve-files.com/media/corp/Veritefw/FWinf |

Edited by: Luna Moonraker on 01/12/2009 16:37:17 I see there is already a downloadable pc file available for the patch as noted in another thread (from the CCP file server);
PC Patch Up
I'm assuming when it is available it will be something like this for the link (based on the PC file url and previous mac ones)
Quote: http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/mac/evepremiumpatch_101786_117956_mac.dmg
This does not work, I tried it and some variations, but hopefully there will be one available soon so we can d/l in readiness for when the servers go up.
With slower connection it will take a while being 500mb for the PC version.
Or just wait to d/l from the auto patch like most

For those of you wishing to tempt fate, test your luck and or ride the wind...
There is a download of the Dominion patch for Mac. I make not allowances for it's finality or it's compatibility, but it is their patch.

Thanks, nice digging. Bit surprised if they would use a zipped .tgz file format though for official version? as all before have been .dmg which doesn't need any other application to open it. And at 615MB it's 115MB bigger than the PC version but perhaps it's the different compression. Will check it out.

Edited by: Solana Dal''Annae on 01/12/2009 17:25:43 They specifically say NOT to use those patches in this thread.
If they need to fix something before TQ goes live you will be stuck with a game you can't update from since CCP won't release a patch to a version of the game they never officially released.
Patience! :P

"Must have update..." :)
No, seriously, wise advice.
I will duplicate the EVE Online app anyhow so I have the original there in case, because I simply can't resist the null space feel of unknown patch danger :)

No autopatching here yet, exited the client twice but still just getting the "Incompatible Version" error. Any tips, or should I just wait until uptime? Much thanks!

Hi, can you please tell me what client version you are running. You can see it by opening the client, and telling me the number in the top left corner of the login screen after you have started the client.
If you have 101786, you can download the patch manually here: http://ccp.vo.llnwd.net/o2/mac/evepremiumpatch101786-117956-mac.tgz

How do you apply the tgz patch file to a Mac installation of EVE?

.tgz is a compressed format, much like .zip. What you do it decompress using the Archive Utility by double clicking the .tgz file and then execute the file which comes out of it.

Edited by: Ognor on 01/12/2009 20:10:37 I started the game, the client updated as it was supposed to, now the game will not launch. I click the icon, but nothing happens, it's dead on arrival. What did I miss?

Try logging out of MacOS X and then back in.

Downloaded quickly, installed and in game now (replying via built in Browser which is a little laggy but much more responsive and useable than old one. So, seems OK so far.
Couple of odd things when rebooted had the EULA window and then a prompt saying had incompatible version do I want to download message at same time. Had to quit and open app then was able to scroll down and click Agree for patch to start it's work.
New features seem to work fine atm though not many online to try Fleet etc.
BTW where does the new patch download go on the Mac? ie directory, to back up in case it's needed.

Try clearing your cache and settings folder, it is at the bottom of this Knowledgebase article: http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=371

It will go into your cache folder: "/Users/username/Library/Preferences/Eve Online Preferences/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility/cache"

Hmm... auto-patch worked fine ... but NO SOUND in game. Deleted all configs from old version and started game .. still no sound. Introduction movie has sound and that's it. Restarted my Mac but no luck. When I fire the game up directly from cider I can find some interesting errors:
err:wave_audiodevice:audio_device_stereo_channels device 280 failed to get preferred stereo channels (0x77686f3f) err:wave_audiodevice:audio_device_channel_volume_writable device 280 failed to get volume writable (0x77686f3f) err:wave_audiodevice:audio_device_format failed to get device 280 format inputChannel: 0 (0x77686f3f) err:wave_audiodevice:audio_device_stereo_channels device 278 failed to get preferred stereo channels (0x77686f3f) err:wave_audiodevice:audio_device_channel_volume_writable device 278 failed to get volume writable (0x77686f3f) err:wave_audiodevice:audio_device_format failed to get device 278 format inputChannel: 0 (0x77686f3f) err:wave_audiodevice:audio_device_format failed to get device 282 format inputChannel: 1 (0x77686f3f)
Will start to download full client now and hope I can have my sound back in game
