I Feel a bit over exposed to my corporation when it comes to my characters information, assets and activities.
Being new. At least there should of been some type of disclaimer shown before actually joining.
Due to this privacy factor I'm considering resigning. But, before I do I would like to know what steps I can take (if possible)to limit this.
So, what could have been a long wall of text cut short. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to be more specific. Did you give API information to them? If so, just generate a new API key via the API key page and it will invalidate previous ones.

Edited by: Mal Lokrano on 02/12/2009 20:23:53 Unless you gave them your API key, they can only really just see (but not take from) your hanger at an station with an office, what ship you are in while you are logged off/on while in station, and your location. Otherwise they can't really know that much more about you than you can learn from most of them.
Even your wallet is kept private from them unless you gave your api key out. The only thing isk wise they can see is if you ran missions and some of the isk was taken for tax. ____________________________________________ When going to a party with wine, women, and song. It's not just the API. But, what items I own and there location, ISK amount in my wallet. What ships I've lost and there fitting info. Mission reward amounts.
I'm uncertain if they have Items sold or bought logs or not or Logg in and out times listed.
I was told it's not possible to play Anonymously. (If you have had one of those days and just want a lil alone time).
Question: Would hanger bay containers keep items private?

Yes, they would, but it's likley that whoever is asking will want to see containers as well. To be honest, losses, API and skills are all cool, as are wallet transactions. Location of assets, however, strikes me as odd. Tread carefully.

That is not possible. Unless you gave them your API key, they can't see your wallet transactions or even the amount in your wallet. Also, having the complete information regarding your assets is impossible, API key or not.

They will have that.

They don't.

Leave the player corp and go back to an NPC corp. That will solve all of your worries.

It does. They can't see in your containers.

Most corporations ask for a limited API to prevent people joining them on alts with dubious purposes. Each account has separate user ID as well as API key. Thus the API measure is not very effective because a good portion of EVE players owns more than 1 account and they don't have to supply info for additional accounts as you might imagine.
The Limited API shows all characters you might have on that account, their skills, as well as ISK amounts in their wallets. Via Limited API corp learderhip cannot look up your market transaction, sell/buy orders, what items you own and where they are. They would need the Full API key for that. Never give out Full API unless it is absolutely necessary (as in you're trying to run a multi-billion ISK IPO on the market forum and need to prove that you're not a scammer or associated with any scammer alts). Both Limited and Full API keys can be changed once you have given them out. If you don't change them corp leadership can continue to see what skills you are training, all characters on that account and their ISK amount.
Possessions. Without API key these can only be seen in corp offices. So if there are 3 stations in system and your corp has office at station 1 and you keep your items in station 2 in same system, nobody in corp would be able to see them (and the third station is in there for the pretty view). And even in the office station they cannot be seen if placed in station containers. CEO, directors, players with security officer role in corp can see what corp members have in their items at office stations, so it's not just anyone in corp.
Transaction and sell/buy orders. Only viewable if you give them your Full API key. Great majority of corps will not request that and will only ask for Limited API. Otherwise no way they can see what you are selling and buying.
Missions. Any corporation with a tax will have a record of tax transactions taken out of your mission bounties and rewards. These transactions will show amount taxed and state which agent has give you the reward. So they will know exactly which agents you are running missions for and when you are running them. The CEO, directors, and players with accountant role would be able to see these tax transaction via corp journal, so once again not just anyone in corp. No way to hide this info except by not running missions.
Your location and ship type. Only corp CEO and directors can look up this one. If they open corp management page and go to member's list they will see a list of everyone in corp, what ship they are currently in, which system/station, and last date and time that members was online. Other members cannot see this info, not even people with recruitment role who are able to accept others into corporation. There is no way you can hide this info either.
All in all I'd recommend feeling less paranoid about all this. For great majority of players you see playing this game having these kinds of info exposed to a small group of people in charge of running the corp works out without a problem.

After you learned what damage a single idividual can cause to his corp you will realise why your concerns are silly at best. When you ever start your own corp and recruite fellow players you will wish you would never have posted here.

Limited API is no prob. Will give out chars on the account, skills and ISK of characters (or other rather unimportant stuff I forgot).
You have to see that corp thieves/gankers and other lowlives (which enrich the EVE universe at the same time) are part of the game and corporations need to take precautions by beeing paranoid..

Using full API you can get this information.

Edited by: Baka Lakadaka on 03/12/2009 00:51:46 As a corporate director I can see this:
1) The contents of your hangar in a station where there is a corporate office. This allows me to see if you've taken all the corp stuff and put it in your own hangar. I can't take it back, but I can see if you have it in your hangar. 2) ISK generated as a tax on ratting or missioning. I see the corp wallet entries, so I can calculate how much you earned (roughly - if I can be bothered). 3) The location of your character when you logged off and the ship you were flying at the time. 4) Your roles in the corporation (stands to reason if I grant corp roles, I can see them). Edit: Using my director's API, I can gain info on corp members ship losses and the fittings of lost ships. This info is used to feed corp kill-boards. I could also get this info from public sites like battleclinic or from kill-boards of the corporations involved in the kill - the info is available to the killers anyway. - I can't see fittings on ships in general, only on losses.
That's pretty much it. I can't see hangars in stations where there is no corp office.
If you gave me a limited API Key I can see: 1) the other characters on your account - somewhat useful for detecting spies, but not really. 2) your skills
If you gave me the full API Key I can see a lot more like wallets, assets, etc. I can't change anything or take anything.
You can easily change your API keys on this website. That will prevent further access. There's usually no cause for giving your full API key, unless your corp is actively investigating a spying/thieving incident.....in which case it might be asked for TEMPORARILY - you can change it again after the investigation. The API only offers limited viewing capability and doesn't allow any changes to be made.
There's a lot I can't see (and don't want to see) about your character and you have quite a lot of control over what you allow me to see. The default corp view is quite limited. It's only directors that see this info, although security officers/personnel officers can see some limited pieces of what directors see.
If you can't trust your directors and corporate officers, then the corporation is probably not for you. You can always move to an NPC corp. I think you're probably misunderstanding what the directors can see. Most directors aren't interested in the day-to-day goings on of their members accounts and are too busy anyway.

I have really appreciated the informative responses.
From what I've learned and seen from the game so far. It is just too easy to simply buy and sell plexes rather than ruining a characters reputation whom has spent months of training.
I simply would feel more comfortable with a bit of privacy. And I would gladly accept limited to zero access to a corporation assets for it. I was not given a privacy option.
My only reason for joining a corporation is mainly for the grouping aspect of it. I don't mind the fee of taxes just for that.
I do not like to link my fittings. Last thing I want to read is "replace this mod for that mod" especially after Ive taken the time to research with emon, eft, Evewiki and BattleNet.
I prefer the trial, error and expermentation with different ships and fittings. Yes, I like to google and read rather than be a bothersome and ask. If I cant find it then I'll post here for help. It's just my preference.
I pay my real life dollars for fun. Not for some one to snoop at my skills and suggestively derail what I really want to do with them or what ship to fly.
My preference is to keep my ISK and items to private. For me, it is just too uncomfortable to let a stranger know this stuff. The action of this just provokes the "uncomfortable" human feeling in me.
And to even narrow that down to something even further. I dont like to voice chat or even hear voice chat. It just ruins the immersion of the game for me.
Unless you have a 3rd party app that makes you sound like an onboard computer advising the best course of actions to take. <-- this idea rocks btw )
Otherwise, just point out my target with the lil F1 thingy and I'll direct all weapons fire on it.
Again, I am grateful for the help offered here and it's probably a noob misunderstanding from my part. But, I've opted to go back to a noob NPC corp. Until I have at least become more familiar with this game.

Really its all down to the Corp you are in rather than what you may want to hide. All Corps are different in how they behave towards their members so you need one that suits your need for privacy.
As people have said though spies are VERY common in EVE as they can give big advantages in any war decs. Therefore most corps will be paranoid and the game does provide some intel on members.
