SO there I was, cruising around Lonetrek in my Stilletto, looking for someone mining in lowsec, or someone to can flip, when I entered Kiskoken and found someone can mining in a Retriever.
I bump them, and flip the can into my own. He pulls drones and warps out. I decide to be patient and start orbitting the can at 20km. Less than a minute later he comes back in a Bustard, which I promtly lock and start to orbit. He cruises up to the can, then warps out. Strange, I thought, but oh well, back to my 3km/s circlework. About a minute and a (AFK) smoke later, he comes back and manages to cloak up *JUST* before I get a lock (I was actually trying to work out WTH just happened, as I'm not used to seeing cloaky haulers). He then uncloaks, and just as he cloaks again, I get a lock, at which point he warps out...again.
I looted his rat wrecks to refresh the aggro, and a couple minutes later he's back, this time at 100km in a Raven. "Oooh, goody" I thought, hoping for maybe a failfit mission Raven that I can solo gank with my Inty. But no such luck, he must have decided that my Interceptor was too much for his Battleship to handle, and logoffski'd right there. So I popped the can and went to eat.
No tears, no KM, no LM, just waiting and fail. People need to stop being smart. This was the most interesting can flip I have had in aaaages, when normally people just warp out and alert everyone else in local.
Not crying, just saying that I think I might have to go find some 'consentual PVP' at some stage.

You are very clearly crying.

Edited by: Marko Riva on 03/12/2009 12:04:23 Only thing I find annoying is the damn Orcas, but I counter that by using one myself. And yes, people seem to be less idiotic but they still fall for it and I still have nights with well over 500 mil destroyed and/or a nice ransom.
Besides, I don't need a km in order to have fun. If I got to play out my devious side and had a nic runin with others (be it positive or negative) I had fun, why keep score.

Because for some people the score is more important than the fun.

Perhaps you should swap your ship. People tend to engage a stationary merlin with more eagerness than an interceptor going 3km/s.

Nor can you post carebears to post with their main, apparently.
If you want to fight pirates, bring a small gang and you'll be met with one - most pirate corps will even engage carebears out numbered, figuring experience will make up the difference. If you jump into lowsec with a 20man RR BS gang though, or set out ridiculously obvious bait, we'll just laugh at you and go about our business.

Can flipping is like door-to-door sales. Sometimes you have to knock on a hundred doors before you get someone to let you in.
In this case, though, I'd have never bothered re-upping the aggro counter. If they don't go for the fight in the first 15 minutes odds are another 15 won't change anything. Better to just move on to the next mark.

Yeah, some guy name HotHamSandwich (or something like that) and a little buddy flipped one of my cans last night. Hilarious as hell. He comes in just as I'm finishing emptying everything from a couple hours of a mining operation with several ships, and drops a missile in a can with with about 1k Kernite left in it. Waits as I clean out the last can and a couple other ships leave for the night. He sees that I'm not taking the bait so locks my hauler. There's one can left with about 75% ore still in it, and he heads for it. I lock my tractor and pull it away; he never gets a chance to flip it before I emptry it and -casually- warp out. Hilarious as hell!!
Tip: if you're going to flip someone's can, do it on a can that is full; flipping a can with viritually nothing in it just gets you laughed at!

Actually I found that patience works wonders, very often the "big guy" in hat corp in his uber/faction BS will be like 15 jumps away (because real corps don't need to somewhat stay together) and it'll take him time to change his lvl chain fit to add a point, then feel all important as he makes the trip.
Waiting is worth it sometimes

You are mistaken. Seems there's plenty of tears. Also, you seem to have managed that "stop being smart"-bit all on your own.

Riight, those are diamonds rolling down your cheeks then, are they?
Can got flipped, tears and emorage on forum ensued. Mission accomplished.

In my experience, this rarely takes longer then the 15 minute window. The few times it did, it was usually preceded by the miner trying to take me on 12-13 minutes into his aggression window by himself and finding out it's not as easy a kill as it looked. :P

I don't know, I had fun with the last idiot that tried to flip a can on me. He got about 2/3 of a can of Veld. Whatever. Warped out, got the hauler, came back. Aligned to a planet, grabbed the loot back, and was gone into warp before he could decloak and lock me up. Bounced off the planet to a safe spot and sat there to enjoyed the tears as he cussed up local about "hunting that @#$% Bestower" for the next 15 minutes. They were delicious!

No, I jumped into a 6 man BS pirate camp with a Hyperion and a Maelstrom, they all warped off. Every pirate corporation is like this.

I feel that it is my duty to oppose can flippers and all it stands for. One of my objectives for this post is to teach dotty flakes about tolerance. Can flippers constantly insists that narcissism forms the core of any utopian society. But it contradicts itself when it says that coercion in the name of liberty is a valid use of state power.
Are you beginning to get the picture here? Can flippers's causeries are like a Hydra. They continually acquire new heads and new strength. The only way to stunt their growth is to evaluate the tactics it has used against me. The only way to destroy its Hydra entirely is to provide more people with the knowledge that can flippers uses obscure words like "piezocrystallization" and "transubstantiationalist" to conceal its agenda to commit senseless acts of violence against anyone daring to challenge its contumelious hariolations. I, hardheaded cynic that I am, find that having to process phrases with long words like those makes me feel hoodwinked, inferior, definitely frustrated, and angry. That's why I strive for utmost clarity whenever I explain to others that I like can flippers's disquisitions about as much as I like rheumatism. Do I blame society for this? No, I blame can flippers.
I normally prefer to listen than to speak. I would, however, like to remind can flippers that I don't just want to make a point. I don't just want to defend with dedication and ferocity the very rights that it so desperately wants to abolish. I'm here to give an alternate solution, a better one. I don't just ask rhetorical questions; I have answers. That's why I'm telling you that it promises its loyalists that as soon as it's finished turning hell-raisers loose against us good citizens, they'll all become rich beyond their wildest dreams. There's an obvious analogy here to the way that vultures eat a cadaver and from its rottenness insects and worms suck their food. The point is that can flippers is a viperine grafter. I'm being super-extra nice when I say that. If I weren't so polite I instead would have stated that can flippers has made it known that it fully intends to cement the foundation of our currently metastasizing police state into the law of the land. If those words don't scare you, nothing will. If they are not a clear warning, I don't know what could be. And that, in my view, is our real problem. _
