Virgin Galactic SpaceShipTwo Announced
Sir Richard Branson and SpaceshipOne (SS1) designer, Burt Rutan, unveiled the new SpaceShipTwo design to the world. In a cunning bit of marketing considering it's the first full-blown private commercial space tourism operation, the main rocket has been named 'Enterprise' and in a turn of events sure to warm the hearts of pod-pilots everywhere, the mothership that will carry Enterprise to it's 50,000 feet launch point has been named EVE. This is supposedly named after Richard Branson's mother but I think we all know the real reason is that Sir Richard likes to indulge of a bit of New Eden market pvp in his spare time.
The dual ship setup will undergo extensive flight testing before beginning a life of ferrying space tourists to the edge of the planet.
Mr. Branson declined to comment as to whether the mothership would carry Templars, the Amarr fighters used by carriers (and motherships).

Weird shape ... untill i saw Burt Rutan was involved. :)
For those of you who are still freaked out, the central fuselage separates; the 2 'pods' with landing gears on the side are the 'mothership' which carries the central one to a high altitude where it is let go to ignite it's engines. --- I smack just for myself. Allow faction cap boosters to be traded via normal market ! |

So the VSS Enterprise will be the first ship into space with that name? (The Shuttle Enterprise, never made it into space, it was only ever used for testing the atmospheric gliding system, and is a museum piece!)

It may just be me, but on hearing the vessel was named 'space ship 2', I couldn't help wondering what was wrong with 'space ship 1'. Could do with a more confidence inspiring name tbh.
Although they will probably be on space ship 100 before I can stump up the ú120000 for a flight.

VSS Enterprise... I have to admit that is a good name.
The question is, could you adapt that concept to get us back to the Moon?

It was already used for the test ship?

The first ship was obviously concept, this one is larger and is going to be taking passengers. But yeah, the SpaceShipOne and SpaceShipTwo names leave something to be desired.

This is clear from actually reading up on it, and also it was the second thing that floated in to my mind when I first heard of 'Space Ship 2'
Not knocking the technical achievements, I just thought that a company who came up with 'Virgin Lips' for a soft drink could do a little better for a commercial space liner.
Just saying. |
