As topic says. Anyone got an idea how long they need to answer questions about banned accounts? They banned 2 of my accounts during todays downtime with no reason. I am still waiting here to get any response from them. They didn't even say that they are working on it or whatever. And no, I did not do anything against the EULA. This waiting really ****es me off... |

Everything was perfectly fine before downtime, so I do not really understand what happened there... I changed my passwords and email adress a few days ago. Is that the problem maybe?

Just so you're aware, a guy in my mains corp was offline for 4 weeks, but this was at the time of unholy rage and the hackings.
As for your situation, be patient or get used to eve with out those toons, CCP dont ban accounts for no reason, there must have been some abnormal action on you're account.
Best case you're without the character for a couple of weeks, and everythings ok, worst case that character is toast.
Expect the worst, so when it happens you're not disappointed, and when it doesnt you're relieved.

Everyone who gets banned gets banned for a good reason, its not done lightly. Everyone who gets banned who did break the EULA will happily appeal too and claim their innocence so these sorts of appeals will ALWAYS take time. There's probably a load of guilty players clogging up the appeal process and holding it up for you, so blame them. It's complex to trace why or how you may have been banned, if you want them to rush they will simply uphold their decision, you really do want them to take their time over it.
If you are innocent then it will not be easy for them to prove that despite what you may think. There must have been one or a series of activities you did which triggered the ban, wait for them to check all these.

Actually, that's not strictly true. Might I refer you to that case where a player kept GM Grimmi's (I think it was) corpse and refused to give it back after being harangued quite badly by said GM, and he received a ban. Yes I know I'm being a little sketchy on details - because frankly my memory is terrible - but hopefully someone else will remember the pertinents and come forth. ---

Hopefully you get it sorted soon. Gotta be a frustrating thing to have happen to someone.
I wish CCP's response time for this sort of thing were a bit faster, but forum posts about it arent going to help you or anyone else.
Maybe *wink poke* CCP should sticky a thread and tell us exactly WHAT their standard procedure (including their standards for communication with the players about the investigation) so these sorts of questions have a ready locale containing answers. Space is fun! |

Kinda on topic, in a tangent stylee, would I have a case of libel against me if a CCP employee incorrectly accuses me of being racist in an email? I'll be careful with details but they incorrectly thought I said something but actually it was someone else, and he actually accused me of being racist. I was considering contacting my local Citizens Advice office to see if I have a case for libel as so far no retraction or apology!

They`d probably try to wriggle out of that
However, if you have it in writing, what he said, I don`t think he`ll get away with it

Not sure tbh, it was a personal Email.
I was also accused of a personal attack in an Email, I laughed and respectfully replied that I was actually quoting what someone else had said. I had an apology soon after, and the quoted post was removed.
Do the same, they will correct where they make mistakes.

SImilar thing happened to me. Quoted someone who had evaded the forum filter and got banned for 14 days from the forums once. After a lengthy petition they "agree'd" to "Shorten" the ban by half and spouted some nonsense about how "If one quotes a post with ****ography it is generally accepted that one will get the same punishment as the person he quotes"...
Swearing aint ****.

Wouldn't you have to sue them under Icelandic law anyways? Remember that few contries exept the US would give anything than a symbolic slap on the wrist, if anything, for doing that. Quite a few contries would also require that it was done in public (even if its in writing) to be of any consequence. The logic in that is that it is not the accusation in it own right that is the issue, its the issue of defameing, which only is the case if it is done publicly. In this case you made it public not them, thus the case is lost up front... Anyways, you probably know law better than me since you would even bother to consider this...

Guess you ment it when you said you had nothing better to do. Just write them a e-mail back, what does posting about it here accomplish?
Oh and about that player getting banned that didn't do what a GM said he should... guess what, not following GM instructions is cause for insta ban. So... though luck.

Well, to be fair, I am taking in to account that they are almost certainly snowed under with more important petitions post-dominion. It just irritated me that I was accused for something that I actually didn't write. Wouldn't mind but my quote was of the edited version that had no bad words in it at all!
And you're all quite right that in terms of law it wouldn't be worth it to take action, unlike what someone might have politely suggested in here I am not an expert in law lol.
I will draw a line under it and forget all about it. As you can no doubt see, the forum ban hasn't stopped me being able to post from a different account so I wont lose any sleep over it
Oh, and to the OP, my apologies for what turned out to be a thread hijack.

So far the reply time I've experienced has only been 2-3 days. Unfortunately I think this is because they are not bothering to actually do anything about the petition. After crashing AGAIN and having to dump preferences files AGAIN both of which are ongoing problems as a result of this "upgrade" I finally get back on and find my self in a pod and over a billion isk worth of cargo gone. The response to my petition was basically "oh well, we are sure you will recover quickly, I'm sure you understand how our hands are tied in regards to reimbursements." So if they are taking a little time on yours it may be a good sign...

Yes, it's totally inconceivable that they send you a mail stating why they banned you when they ban you.
It is only natural that they don't come forward with this information at the moment they use it to make a decision and rather make you file a petition, reply with copypasta alla "Petition queue is full", and then 3 weeks later try to reconstruct the circumstances, hints, and conclusions from the original situation.
