All datamining supports the notion that players who join player corps on during their initial experience with EVE stick to the game. It's why we put a tax on the NPC corps, it's why we created the recruiting tools, it's what we're currently looking at trying to ensure people do. Have you considered just doing away with NPC corps and making players individually wardecable? |

Sure we could continue enforce rules about newbie griefing. But the definition of when you're a newbie and when you're capable is highly nebulous. Furthermore we cater to the griefing crowd so it's only natural to expect our players to try and poke at whatever laws we put up. There was a topic here on GD recently which was essentially people trying to get a GM to paint himself into a corner by defining what we consider "newbies" and I see no reason for that to stop.
And if we exclude newbies from this system, what's the point? They'll have quit the game before anyone decs them and thus prompts them to seek protection.

You forget the first rule of the trader club, do not talk about your trading. Just get rich :). And i still hate CCP for killing the contract market that was the easiest ISK i ever made 3b to 6b per week depending on if i "worked" 7h or 14h per week. That was roughly 500m/h, damn CCP.

hey, quit trying to muscle in on his gig
there's decent margins on manual buys/sells, but it takes as much work as missioning or more
The American public's reaction to the change was poor and the new cola was a major marketing failure. The subsequent reintroduction of Coke's original formula, re-branded as "Coca-Cola Classic", resulted in a significant gain in sales, leading to speculation that the introduction of the New Coke formula was just a marketing ploy |

I can't tell you what he did, but what I did with a new char I made with one of them fancy 60 day trials (to take part in hulkageddon). You go to Jita and buy stuff new players tend to fit to their ships. Meta 3/4 small guns, launchers, reppers. Stay away from anything that needs more then 3 days of SP (for obvious reason) and sell it in the systems with the career agents. The turnover is staggering and so are the margins. There are so many noobs that turn a PLEX into ISK who have no sense how much stuff is worth (because they didn't earn their ISK) that you will have problems to supply them all.

You'll go to a 0.0 corp....You'll rat your little heart out until (A) Some cloaky guy parks in your ratting system and you all dock up or (B) You'll get bored to tears ratting your little heart out.....OFC you can do exploration for plexes and sites, but they'll most likely be found and farmed out by the time you go looking for them.
Oh wait, you went out there for the epic space battles! The battles where hundreds of players slug it out for control of a vital solar system!
It does not exist in EVE under it's current mechanics...It's blobbed or be blobbed and 9 times out of 10 these days the defenders would rather pack up and leave if the know that the aggressor is even slightly stronger than them.
Sure, you can go out on a roam with your corp/alliance...20,30 or 40 guys! Personally, I'd go to church first (or whatever religious domination you are,if you are) and pray that you might actually get someone or don't get hotdropped within 40 jumps of your starting point....Oh and take your time at church, it will most likely take at least and hour for a gang to form.
If this is your EVE experience you are doing it wrong. |

Telling this to everybody in a public thread (with dev badges, no less) doesn't seem like a great idea to me - unless it was generic trading. Finding specific items that can be bought & sold for a good profit are better kept private ;) Good times - I remember making my first serious amount of money (back when 100 mil was still a huge amount of ISK) flying my trusty Iteron IV for dozens of jumps, trading mostly NPC trade goods. |

If you do the math, he could have taken 50mil, and rolled it up to 400mil just by flipping items for 10% in under a month. And it could be done during breaks while doing mining/mission/etc. Going from 50mil to 400mil sounds like a big jump, but it can be done fairly easily in lots of smaller but growing leaps.
People think the big secret is what item and where, but really the big secret is understanding compounding numbers, and things that can be flipped for small amounts lots of times can be just as good as trying to do few massively profitable flips. |

Yeah pretty much what he said, I just sold anything that had a decent margin and every week my isk doubled and as soon as I made any money I would put up more buy orders, so I've only been able to see all my money together on rare occasions. |

I joined the game and immediately started doing what the ISD suggested: read Halada's glorious mining guide, buy a Bantam and hauler.
After some guy can flipped me and killed my Bantam I went to take revenge on my powerful first Rifter (had to use MAPC because I could not even fit T1 modules on it ).
The can flipper quickly warped in vagabond + 2 RR ships and killed my rifter (you know, he feared my Rifter).
I started to... let's say it mildly... "speak" in local chat about that guy till a Man, a soon to be Friend called Roful Koptur convoed me and invited me in his corp.
5 mins later I was out with a new bantam and let the flipper do it again. This time when he arrived with his stuff, he found multiple battleships, tacklers and whatever and he lost ALL his ships.
About 2 weeks later I was in 0.0 with them and loved every instant with them till Roful had RL problems with work and had to quit EvE
I then joined Dark Rising (still with T1 fit Rifter!), where more epic moments were to be had, from FW to low to null sec, till my job commitment made impossible for me to stay online and I had to leave them.
If I had not joined those 2 corps, I bet my idea of EvE would have been much different, and certainly worse.

Try that again today - somehow I think you might get a different experience, because a) either nobody will care that your ship got destroyed and just tell you "HTFU" or b) you will get an invite from a corp named "Hard Rock Mining" which promise to revenge you only to discover that next time to undock you get killed by members from this corporation...
